The Warriors have announced in a press release (Twitter link) that reserve swingman Andre Iguodala had the stabilizing splint removed from his left wrist and is set to be reevaluated two weeks from now.
Iguodala fractured the wrist during a March 13 game against the Suns. Golden State’s announcement notes that the 2015 Finals MVP has begun rehabilitating the wrist and that the team could give him the green light to start shooting drills and light ball-handling activities within the next week.
There’s more out of Golden State:
- Warriors guards Gary Payton II and Jordan Poole have been listed as probable to suit up for today’s critical Game 4 against the Kings, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic (via Twitter). Payton missed Game 3 due to a non-COVID-19 illness.
- All-Star Warriors point guard Stephen Curry indicated that he and his comrades appreciated the urgency of Game 3 against Sacramento, writes Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee. “I mean, pretty bluntly, if we lost this game, it’s pretty much over,” Curry said. “You’ve got to understand the moment and we gave ourselves life. Biggest thing is, we’ve been in the situation where momentum doesn’t necessarily carry over from game to game unless you execute at the same level, so it’s just one game, but it was a big game for sure.”
- Golden State will bring star forward Draymond Green off the bench and retain the Game 3 starting lineup they used while he was suspended, per Kendra Andrews of ESPN. Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of The Athletic tweet that Green proposed the change. Poole will thus stay among the Warriors’ first five, separating the team’s two key shooting-challenged big men, Green and center Kevon Looney, for a crucial fourth game in their series against the Kings.
“Green proposed the change”
That pretty much tells you all you need to know.
Fantastic game so far w 6 mins left from Dray
Say all you will about this guy, but when he’s (active) he knows what it takes come playoff time
Gen Z meet Dennis Rodman
Fantastic last 6 mins from Dray as well-
Nice passes, nice pokes and deflections on D
He was vintage today
Fox is so good they have to put Draymond on him in the last couple of minutes to try to slow him down. What a huge three near the end there. He’s a player. Very underrated.
How was he vintage when he’s never come off the bench in a playoff game before?
He needs to be used less in the first half and go heavy in the second.
So it turns out that the NBA champions are tied 2-2 with the Sacramento Kings, who are in the playoffs for the first time as this group. Tight game and the kings sure look good especially on defense at the end there.
They’re a little young in decision making on offense but I tell you, I wouldn’t want to play them next year. Strong group. Fingers crossed for game 5 back in sacramento.
Impressed with Fox’s 3 point shot which he didn’t have early in his career. Sabonis is looking like a fraud. Keep him more than 8 feet from the basket and he is not that good. I picked Warriors in 7. Knew it would be a battle and a chess game between 2 coaches.
The issue is that the Warriors “best 5” that includes Draymond is oddly overmatched by this Kings best 5 lineup. Doesn’t happen often but will start happening more as Draymond ages. The move is Kerr has to decrease his minutes and don’t start him anymore. Use him in bursts in this series and try him back to normal vs whoever is next, if this “less Draymond” roster cooks the Kings.
Donte is so bad. He’s a big problem tbh. Not a big game player, he’s not a main rotation guy here. Moody is and needs all those minutes.
The Kings have the talent but not the experience…
A team with playoff experience would of capitalised on Draymonds suspension and swept the Warriors…
Warriors are lucky the Kings are inexperienced…
Yes you could say that. But it’s exciting to see them on the verge of something great.
That GM has been nailing it with the different trades free agent signings and hires. Wonder how long he’ll be there before a large Market snaps him up? Amazing job so far.
Lucky? It’s just how things work in the NBA. You pay the price for that experience over a younger team. The Warriors walk away from this sore and hobbled and weary whereas a young team though inexperienced bounces back quicker, will be a little faster in game 5, and are learning on the go. Sure lucky, but paying the price for that luck the last 8 years.
Agree…With experience and inexperience both come with their own sets of positives and negatives..
What does that even mean? Lucky how?
You might as well say “Warriors are lucky they are playing a team that they can beat” well yeah they can beat anyone, what an asinine comment. Just pure haterade and copium.
In a series vs an experienced opponent the Draymond suspension would of been series over…
The Warriors are very lucky to be 2-2 right now…
Draymond was only suspended one game. He came back for this game 4 which of course they won so it would have been 3-1 not a sweep? Are you saying they would have quit if down 3-0? I don’t think so. I would disagree with that.
