Miami will have to try to close out the Eastern Conference Finals Thursday night without Gabe Vincent, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic. The Heat guard will miss Game 5 due to a sprained left ankle, sources tell Charania.
Vincent suffered the injury late in Tuesday’s game when he landed awkwardly after a jump shot. He had been listed as questionable to play tonight, but the ankle apparently hasn’t recovered enough after a full day of treatment.
The impending free agent has been an important contributor for Miami throughout the playoffs, starting all 15 games so far and averaging 13.1 points and 4.1 assists per night. Vincent poured in a career-high 29 points and connected on 6-of-9 three-point attempts in a Game 3 victory.
The Heat are already shorthanded in the backcourt as Tyler Herro remains sidelined with a broken right hand and Victor Oladipo is out with a torn patellar tendon in his left knee. The loss of Vincent leaves Kyle Lowry as the only natural point guard in Miami’s playoff rotation.
If Boston wins tonight, Vincent will have two more days to recover before Game 6, which would take place Saturday in Miami.
B/c of course, right…every. single. time
Since Nnamdi cant go,start Jommy at PG, and use Caleb a lot more, and probably finally time to bring Highsmith out there
Heat can’t catch a break from the injury bug this post season
This? Just this? Not for 10+ years now every single time? EVERY. SINGLE. TIME
Few remember the 2016 East semis, HEAT v RAPTORS …… a post Lebron-HEAT had a great chance to go the ECF (despite losing Bosh earlier in the season) – but lost Whiteside to injuries during a semis game.
It seems to me, the best way for teams to have a healthy season ……. for each NBA team to have a slow 7-foot point-center who can score, pass and rebound and jump no more than 4-inches.
C’s in 7
This is lining up where Boston has a real shot at coming back and winning this series.
Boston has to send a message with a statement win tonight. They are then one win away from coming home for Game 7.
Miami is down Gabe Vincent with Herro and Oladipo already out. Kevin Love is already not giving you much.
That game 4, where it seemed like the Heat let up off the gas pedal and got a little too cute, too cocky with all of the national love, rubbed me the wrong way, and I was rooting for them. They just seemed to have no sense of urgency or to step on the neck of the snake here
I don’t care how Tatum and Brown have played up to this point, they’ll always be a real threat
The Nuggets idea going into their game 4 in LA—“give them no hope”—-should have been the Heat’s battle cry, too
Heat were about to make another 4th quarter comeback before nnamdi got hurt…also, the league called in scott foster trying to extend the series, so to act as though their effort was an issue is crazy. He got hurt on a multiple effort play
I thought they played exactly the same. The only difference is they made fewer shots because Boston played better defense.
Comeonnn heat!
Not a fan of any one team but again, there was a sea change in game 4 and it certainly carried over last night. The Heat left the door opened and at least to me, tried to cruise in game 4. No sense of urgency or intensity
They’re still in the driver’s seat but it would be no surprise to see them blow this
