Heat guard Tyler Herro is ramping up his workouts and is aiming to return to action during the NBA Finals, according to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and TNT, who tweets that Game 3 on June 7 is the likely target date.
Herro’s season appeared to be over when he broke his hand during Game 1 of the first-round series against Milwaukee. He underwent hand surgery on April 21 and was expected to miss a minimum of six weeks.
Miami’s stunning run to the Finals as an eighth seed has provided Herro with an opportunity to contribute in the Finals. Game 3 is slated for Wednesday, June 7.
However, Herro indicated after Miami’s Game 7 triumph in Boston on Monday that he’s still experiencing post-surgical pain in his right hand, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel tweets. While Herro believes he’ll return in the Finals, a Game 3 comeback is no lock.
Herro was the team’s third-leading scorer during the regular season at 20.1 points per game. He also averaged 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 34.9 minutes per game. He’s a career 38.3% 3-point shooter and 87.5% free throw shooter.
If Herro can return to action, coach Erik Spoelstra will have the pleasant dilemma of how to work him into a rotation that has proved so successful during the postseason.
Nuggets in 5. I became a big fan of Jokic since he sent LeRetire packing.
Cuban must learn from the Nuggets front office on how to assemble a winning team instead of clinging to worthless bums like Kleber and Powell etc.
Crazy how Westbrick denied Nuggets playoff spot a few year ago with OKC and now they on verge of wining a championship. Malone is a very underrated coach.
Denver has size across the board, but I think it’s a doable matchup that will likely come down to make or miss. Hopefully health isnt an issue, as I know the Heat are still super banged up. As a Heat fan, I’m most worried about Aaron Gordon, Porter jr, Jeff Green, and KCP in the matchup. I think Kevin Love becomes super important in the series, as is Kyle Lowry, Strus, and Duncan
I would start Highsmith, and bring Love, Caleb, Duncan, Lowry off the bench, although I could see this being a series where the Heat could use Zeller/UD/Yurtseven for post defense vs Jokic for some minutes (maybe 5-8)
You can never discount the Heat, but the truth is they haven’t beat Denver in the last three seasons.
We’ve historically never played well in Denver
Jokic is Bam’s assignment, period. Spo should sync their minutes, Love spells Bam when Jokic sits. If Bam gets in foul trouble, have UD beat the hell out of Jokic for a few minutes. No way stiffs like Zeller or Yurtseven should sniff the court.
Bench Martin? The deserving ECF MVP? Keep the starting lineup as is. Lowry, Robinson, Highsmith, Love off the bench with Haslem in an emergency.
Denver is obviously and deservingly the favorite. However, playing against the Heat isn’t just about playing against the players on the court. You also will be playing against their coaching staff and culture. The Bucks and Celtics have more talent on their rosters, but were beaten by everything the Heat bring.
This should be an interesting series.
My advice to Denver would be to win the first 2 games at home. A split makes this into a tough series that the Heat stride in.
With this said, go Heat! And go Panthers! South Florida would love two parades that shock the world.
Spo zone vs euro Jokic … Mamamia
And congrats to Udonis Haslem for his 7th trip to the NBA Finals. That’s all about that Heat Culture!
I hope he retires after this. I’m tired of him. Dude is like a mascot, being hogging a roster spot since 2016 when he could’ve retired and let some youngsters get opportunity!!
he announced his retirement before the season started… glad you’re tired of it. The fact you don’t get his importance is your problem not the Heat’s…. since he was a “coach on the bench” they’ve played in 3 ECF and made the Finals twice… maybe Spo knows something you dont? Maybe?
Haslem is undoubtedly the most impactful 15th man in the league. I hope my Knicks can get DRose to stay in that role on a minimum contract.
If actual depth is needed in the regular season, play the two-way guys. If you need your 15th man in the playoffs… well, you’re probably gonna lose anyway, but you’d rather have a wily vet in that spot than a green rookie.
Someone clearly doesn’t know a thing about building a winning culture. Haslem enforces the Heat Culture…always has. That’s why LeBron, D-Wade and Bosh gave up money to make sure that Haslem got paid during their years together. D-Wade is the Heat franchise, but Haslem is the Heat Culture having received that torch from Zo, and he’s going to sit by Zo on the sidelines starting next year to make sure that every incoming player continues to know what Heat Culture is about.
And what is lost on many who don’t understand our franchise, Haslem is our local guy and bleeds Miami and Miami Heat. He is also the perfect guy for someone like our owner Micky Arison, who is a fan of his own team. When you share something like that with the owner of your team, that is something that bonds in ways that people don’t get. And Zo is a part of it, and sooner or later, when D-Wade is tired of ownership elsewhere, he’ll be back here too…like he already is when he can.
