It’s time for Warriors coach Steve Kerr to let Jonathan Kuminga out of the doghouse, Dieter Kurtenbach of the San Jose Mercury News opines. Kurtenbach argues that Kuminga could provide much-needed size and athleticism against Lakers star big man Anthony Davis.
Kuminga didn’t play in Game 1 of the second-round series and only played a combined 19 minutes in the past two games, but he has looked pretty good in garbage time during those minutes, Kurtenbach adds.
We have more on the Warriors:
- Kuminga is one of a handful of options for Game 4, according to Tim Kawakami of The Athletic. Golden State could also look at a small lineup with either Jordan Poole, Donte DiVincenzo, Gary Payton II or Moses Moody filling the fifth slot.
- The Warriors didn’t seem worried after getting blown out by the Lakers in Game 3 and with good reason, Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic notes. The last eight times they have suffered lopsided defeats in the postseason, they’ve won the next game. That includes their Game 7 victory against the Kings in this year’s playoffs s after losing Game 6 at home by 19 points.
- On the flip side, the Lakers’ home court has become a house of horrors for the Warriors, Thompson writes in a separate story. Game 3 was their fourth consecutive road loss to the Lakers and sixth in the last eight meetings. The last time they beat the Lakers on their home floor was in the 2021/22 season opener.
Please no fouls!!! Curry drops 40
Kerr letting his personal vendettas handicap the team in the playoffs, how the hell can anyone defend the guy? Absolute clown. Unprofessional. Warriors and Curry deserve a HC who wants to win games.
Lacob should replace Kerr with Mark Jackson immediately after game 4.
What is his personal vendetta with Kuminga?
No one knows, but being Kuminga is physically a Lebron clone who is excellent defensively, Kerr is letting Lebron+AD cook undersized guards by not playing Kuminga, who should have had every single minute Donte DiVincenzo has gotten. Donte shouldnt be getting 6th man minutes, Kuminga should.
What’s your beef with Kerr? Besides the myth that you think you’re smarter than a guy with 4 rings as a coach and a few more as a player!
The problem with the Warriors IS POOLE! Not Kerr.
Call fouls for both teams not just 1 team. If you are going to call a tcky tack foul call them on both teams.
It’s the playoffs, dont call any fouls unless its borderline assault.
Just spam Curry/Green pick and rolls and wear Davis out.
Draw up more plays for Wiggins when Curry is sitting.
Dieter should leave the coaching to someone who has won four championships.
I was just talking abt this yesterday… hope they do this coz they lack the size
If Kuminga is your savior, you never had a chance in the first place.
Talking like that about a 20 year old NBA champion, tell me you dont know what youre talking about without telling me you dont know what youre talking about
The irony..
They should have traded Kuminga when they had a chance.
When Davis gets going the only way the Warriors can stop him is foul him. Looney is the only player they have that matches up well with him.
Kuminga definitely isn’t the answer, Davis has two inches and 43 pounds on him. Davis would just body him in the paint and shoot over or through him giving Davis more opportunities for and1’s.
Why is Kuminga in the doghouse?
Steve Kerr is unprofessional. All the over 6’5″ guys hate him for playing these tiny 4 guard rotations that get destroyed. Kerr should be fired and replaced with Iguodala. He kicked Wiseman off the team by himself. He should be fired.
I don’t think he’s really in the doghouse as much as he’s untested in a playoff environment. Most all coaches would go with vets over 1st and 2nd year players in the playoffs.
Yeah he has the skills but he isn’t fully baked. Kerr plays IQ first. Hard to argue with the results.
Well I won’t be Jonathan Kuminga in the starting lineup to shake things up. It’ll be Gary Payton.., who of course is 6-3. But I like it, the guy’s a stud. Brings intensity too.
Please play Kuminga & Lamb or anyone else instead of Poole. Congrats to Jordan Poole. -5 with a couple of terrible shots, a turnover, your typical matador D and some more pouting in 8 minutes. The Warriors were up by one and tied each time you came off the bench in the 1st half. Both times they were trailing when you finally went back to the bench where you belong.
Kerr has 4 rings but you can’t tell it in this series. Looks Like we may have Celtics Lakers for Banner 18. Great trades at the deadline by the Lakers.
Agreed. Falling apart at the end comes down to coaching as much as the players.
Even though this is not over, the Lakers are looking good. Definitely contenders for the championship.
I think whoever wins the Nuggets/Suns series will go to the finals against the Celtics.
