After the first pick, u can put this draft to bed.
They’re all adults, they can stay up little later tonight.
Phoenix’s pick at 52 is important.
I would say they’re all important.
1st deviation from the consensus – Ausar at #5 to Detroit moving up 1 slot from the consensus #6 slot.
Stephan A Smith has to be the most irritating person in sports television. He just talks to hear himself talk and now that the Pistons have made their pick I’m turning his annoying ass off! Bye-bye!
I’m watching the ESPN+ presentation. So much better
Kinda weird not seeing Woj tip these on Twitter.
Greatest twins ever Van Arsdale twins .
link to indystar.com
Amen n Ausar will be better …….. history
Among top 5 picks, there are only 2 San Francisco area Residents
Thompson Brothers
2nd deviation – Anthony Black leapfrogging two wing players to #6 from #8.
Magic LOVE guards and now have spent a lot of draft capital on the guard position.
Black #6 overall. Suggs #5 overall. Cole Anthony #15 overall. Gary Harris, and Fultz on the roster.
Black is kind of a reach at 6. Has the potential to be better than any other guard on their roster though.
He’s not a true PG. Magic are lost. He’s more a combo guard/wing. Has big potential though.
Bad draft pick. Not impressed with Anthony Black.
And Howard.
Rockets are fools . Should have traded for Scoot …
You assume Portland had any desire to trade. They would have wanted stars and Houston doesn’t really have anything that would fit that or would be available.
You ever hear of a three team deal. Nobody is getting a star for the third pick. You get assets ….. moving up one spot is not a mountain to climb.
And I never assume. I intellectually opine
Alex, you ever hear of AA?
They let you back out ????
Rockets should have traded up for Victor too! Why didn’t they????
Portland is delusional. You don’t get a star for a third pick.
Scoot would have gone #1 in many recent drafts. Better prospect than Cade or Fultz. “#3 Pick” doesn’t have static value.
I agree. The Rockets should of
Too many folks here don’t really get balling.
Scoot is a SERIOUS PG Talent. Rockets biggest need. He’s perfect for them. How many chances in life does Perfect come along lol.
First substantial reach of the draft. Bilal going from consensus #12 to #7 overall.
Mavs crossing their fingers that Whitmore falls to them.
Darn, I was hoping Walker drop to 9th.
So Walker slides back 1 and the Pacers get their guy + 2 2nds
Hendricks goes right where he was projected to the Jazz.
Mavs get their man Whitmore.
So Wallace jumps up a spot and Whitmore is on a freefall from projected #5 overall to…. 11..12?
Walker is a 4 that can start from day one. Reminds me of Dra. Smart player who plays both ways.
Hendricks has big upside. He’s got big upside imo. A true 4 that can shoot.
Jett Howard at 11? Orlando is really doubling down on tweener guards.
Jeez…. that looks like a huge reach… Jett Howard consensus #21 overall.
So… how man guards are the Magic taking now? He’s 6’8″ so they’re going to obviously play him at the 3 more than the 2 and back-up Franz.
Black #6 overall. Howard at #11. Suggs #5 overall. Cole Anthony #15 overall. Gary Harris, and Fultz on the roster as “guards” now.
The prospect don’t look too good after top 3
So biggest question of the draft so far – what did Cam Whitmore do or not do to fall from 5 to potentially out of the lottery?
Lively to the Mavs. Day 1 starter with the current roster right? A defensive Center allows them to feel better about bringing back Wood right?
The medicals on Whitmore must be really worrisome.
Apparently his workouts were subpar and lacked effort.
Too high for Howard ……
Rather have Clowney ……
Wats Up with Withmore ??????
Mostly what I found:
“At the Hoops Summit, Whitmore was not a practice-type player and didn’t look very good during the week. But once he played, he was one of the better players in the game. That’s going to have to change at the NBA level. He’s going to have to exert some effort, some ability and skill level in practice for a head coach to put him in a game. He’s not going to be guaranteed minutes like he probably was at Villanova.”
“In recent days, sources have begun to discuss a potential fall for Whitmore in part due to poor workouts,” O’Connor wrote in his draft.
Raptors take a knockdown shooter in Grady Dick. They were the 3rd worst shooting team from 3 last year, and 4th worst overall.
Big time shooter ….. gets a tighter handle. Watch out
So 13/14 projected lottery players selected. Whitmore could end up on the Lakers.
Wood is a FA …. he’s not coming back.
He’s falling since he left Pistons .
I like Cason Wallace ….. He’s a true PG.
But why when they have Giddey.
Thunder and Magic are clueless …..
As a Magic fan I can confirm this.
Giddey is 6’8″ he can play SG or SF.
He’s not a good shooter, yet. He’s a true PG. He’s got best vision in NBA. You don’t move him. I’m sure they can play together. But why. Whitmore, Hawkins, even Lively would be a better fit.
Best vision in the NBA? Every time you post it becomes more obvious you don’t know anything about basketball. Well, how could you, you’re a Knicks fan.
Lively is a solid center prospect. He’s for real a Real big. Will be solid 2way.
I guess Wood is gone. Wood has really turned teams off it seems. Unfortunate
Heat can right the ship for Whitmore
Damn! Cam!
Those workouts must have been BRUTALLY bad…
Lakers would have loved Hawkins dropping to them. I wonder if they even looked at Whitmore ……
Hood is nice 2way talent. But he’s not much help next yr.
Knicks get in on Whitehead …….
May drop out of first. Buy into end if first rd.
They should…..
Gotta wonder how bad can it be. He’s going to be motivated
Brandin Podziemski should demand a clause in his contract that if Draymond Green punches him in the face it triggers a rookie super max extension. Work place hazards.
If Brandin knows to not talk about another mans wife and kids, he won’t get punched. This is common sense to everyone but Jordan Poole.
Yeah, that never happened. But nice fairy tale.
Nets should be looking at Clowney ….
Brooklyn ……. yes
Like it
At #22 —. Murray is good fit here
Kerr influencing GSW’s roster to be made up of like minimum 12 guards I hate it here
Would have made more sense for the Nets to take a guard since they are Forward heavy. Instead they take two forwards.
Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Royce, DFS.
Clowney is a 4. They need 4s.
Great pick imo. He and Claxton are serious. Very athletic bigs
Murray to the Blazers makes a ton of sense esp if they don’t keep Cam Reddish.
Fiuuuunk Nets jumped me lol. Imo this kid is going to be a star. Great pick for the future.
Heat with a great pick. Jaime can help next yr. I like this pick.
Murray another guy who can help next yr. Nice pick by Blazers. Dame is staying it seems ……. There are some decent FA available. Don’t know how much cap space they got. But they be a formidable team.
My cousin lives in Houston. Big Rockets fan. Scoot was perfect for them.
But I believe Scoot can play with Dame. Now I want to see what else Blazers do.
I don’t know all the news here …
But Cam is going to get people fired lol. Rockets with a coup right here.
Facts. News I’m hearing is a very happy draft in Houston, how Cam fell to 20 is insane. Even with red flags in medicals and poor work outs/interviews. I’ve never seen a top 5-8 prospect fall to 20. Seeing the kid in his seat watching every payer go before him was hard to watch, I felt for him.
Half of the argument pre draft was do you take Amen Ausar or Cam with #4. I get a lot of teams we’re drafting fit. But if a player with the current talent and upside that Cam has is available beyond #10 you draft him no doubt. Unless there is a huge issue No one is saying, he’s worth the risk 10-20 no matter how bad his workouts and interviews, with ease. Few questionable calls in this draft.
Yeah I want to see what the real story is. But right now it looks great for Rockets. He’s a starting 3 right now. Already has NBA body. Big ups for Rockets fans.
Fischer tweeted, they even tried to move up to 17,18 and 19 to acquire him. But none of Lakers, Heat and GS were looking to take him…… sounded like by #10+ Houston were calling everyone seeing who they’d take just to get him and wound up giving nothing. That’s crazy. I do see a few young guys moving now though. Too much young wing talent.
Miller supplied a murder weapon and moved up the draft! Cam slipped more than 10 places 15 if you count the pre workout projections. Either Rockets are oblivious or all the other teams screwed up. I’ve never seen that much of a slide, fit or not. ESP with no real reason.
Wow Sasser went 25. Nice
Another who can come in right away and help. Solid 2way guard. Clutch scorer guy can flat out get buckets. Good for a young team.
I think Pistons move Hayes …. Rockets should be calling lols.
Nick Smith is a nice pick. Penny of upside
That Gobert and other moves really set the Jazz up well… pretty dang good 2 year haul.
23 – Hendricks, George, Sensabaugh
22 – Kessler, Agbaji, Fontecchio, Juzang, Sexton, and Markkanen
Out of all those guys the only keepers are Hendricks and Kessler. Hopefully they can flip Markkanen and Sexton next season.
Leonard Miller is still there. Solid long 4.
Wouldn’t mind Knicks trading in for him.
Rockets and Dallas and of course Spurs.
Texas did well tonight ……
Mavs addressed their D. And Rockets loaded up. Udoka would be wise to sign Brook.
Well I guess Knicks aren’t getting in on this.
Is bates good? Know cavs need wing depth but I don’t watch college ball.
Bates is a score-only guard with height, but a short wingspan and no muscle. He’s also had legal trouble. So no.
Man…a lot of teams got significantly better/perfect fits tonight. Was kind of a weird night for me, so I have to catch up a lot the next few days, but I see a lot that catches my eye from several teams
Dallas won I guess. Pretty disappointed in alot of teams
Utah did well too
LOVE the Gradey Dick pick for Toronto.
Orlando is hoping that Jett Howard becomes in some kind of player like Klay Thompson, fun fact Klay also was drafted #11 in the 2011 draft.
This league is totally ridiculous and is in need of a major overhaul with respect to off court rules and all of these many contract conditions and salary cap exemptions. Also permitting the trades of draft picks up to 6 years in the future is a JOKE !!
In this year’s draft:
16 out of 30 First Round picks were TRADED.
22 out of 28 Second Round picks were TRADED.
This comedy that is the random collection of bogus NBA rules, exemptions, exceptions, etc. is in need of a complete overhaul.
Why come here ….. go watch cricket
Stern rolling over in his grave. Fire silver. Ruining the credibility of the NBA to a circus. No dribbling violations and no defense at all. Maybe 8 players playing defense out there
There used to be a rule that was (supposedly) enforced by game officials called “Traveling”.
Just when was the last time you saw it called ??
I’m 64 years old. When I was in high school the referees called steps or traveling often. Don’t remember what is called ‘Euro stepping’ being legal.
Sleeper of the draft, Tristan Vukcevic to the Wizards, 2nd round, pick 42 !
With the “feeding frenzy” of NBA teams going after UDFA players after the present TWO ROUND NBA DRAFT; isn’t it about time that the NBA at least added a THIRD ROUND to the NBA DRAFT? With all of the High Caliber College Basketball Programs in the USA PLUS all of the international players available, there are at least 30 more NBA level players available in the world.
Taevion Kinsey and Justin Johnson need teams
Kings picked some ballerz :0
