Undrafted DePaul forward Javan Johnson has reached a contract agreement with the Warriors, Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and TNT tweets. While contract terms were not specified, it’s likely an Exhibit 10 deal.
Johnson had a winding journey through his college career. He played two seasons at Troy, sat out a season after transferring, then played one year at Iowa State.
He spent the past two seasons with the Blue Demons, though his first season with DePaul was limited to 10 games due to a hand injury. Last season, the 6’6” Johnson started 33 games and averaged 14.2 PPG, 4.3 RPG and 2.4 APG while making 41.2% of his 3-point attempts.
Assuming he’s inking an Exhibit 10 contract, Johnson could earn a $75K bonus by joining the G League Santa Cruz Warriors and spending at least 60 days with them if he’s waived by the NBA Warriors.
A 6-6 “forward” you say? smh
Really wish the press would start calling out the Warriors explicitly to ask them why they are allergic to players over 6’9″. We need height, every team with 3 talls absolutely cooked GSW last season.
Besides Lively there was not any good centers in the draft. I looked at the centers and none of them besides the top 10 picked were any good. can they flip CP3 for a center?
I agree there wasn’t many bigs avail in the draft, but this is post draft. I’m not even talking positionally, GSW straight up doesnt acquire anyone tall, period. Ben Simmons will never play here as long as they keep thinking small like this.
Poole for Kristaps would have made me very happy tbh
Watch us get Davis Bertans next, the worst defending big ever – UGH.
But he’s 6 10. And I hear Latvians are good with grammar.
Do you not know how logic works? I am despairing that the one time GSW -does- get a big, it will be someone like Bertans.
Reading comprehension comes before grammar policing others, little guy!
Man, I knew that would fire you up. Thx for making my day. Have a good day in the UK A’s fan.
cant admit to coming here to specifically bait and troll someone on purpose lil bro – that violates TOS – bye bye!
I am hoping Brooke Lopez since he is a free agent. You can’t go into the season again with 1 short center. Kerr is definitely running the show now so he needs to get away from his stubbornness on play a small lineup.
Lopez would be a DREAM sign.
I’d love Naz Reid but he won’t sign for minimum. Thomas Bryant? Jock Landale? Mamukelashvili? Mason Plumlee?
There were three undrafted centers but were all picked up
GS needed help at the 4, with an adequate-better defender that can space the floor, as well as a playmaking wing that can defend multiple positions to replace Iguodala (though I expect Kuminga, Moody, and Payton to have opportunities in that spot), and a replacement guard off the bench that can score/defend adequately.
They actually have a couple of internal possibilities at that 4 spot I mentioned too, even though they moved off Baldwin. Santos could take that next step, and I’m curious to see who they bring into summer league
I think they added an interesting smallball 5 option at the end of the draft as well.
Agreed, I think Lester Quinones is definitely going to be on the 15 man, so Ive heard.
I liked him in summer league. Plays hard. Potentially useful at the 2/3 spots. If he can be more consistent defensively, he will get chances. I think strength will help him there b/c I felt lile he crumbled against screens a few times, and then I need to see him more against quicker guards. I’m a little foggy on last year’s summer league though, b/c I had a lot going on at that time, so I could be misremembering. They had a couple of interesting guards the last couple of years
95.7 and KNBR don’t actually know, they just talk to talk
Patrick Gardiner C, Justin Johnson SG, Yuri Collins PG and more are still out there. Tysaun Crawford division 2 C. All undrafted players out there.
Taylor Currie overseas. A young center anywhere. What about the Alec S guy they had or jessup
Bogut can you help a little bit
I like this signing though
Missed out on Liam Robbins
