The Jazz are hiring Rick Higgins as an assistant coach, Kelly Iko of The Athletic tweets. Higgins has been a member of Stephen Silas‘ staff with the Rockets since 2020. It’s part of a retooling of Will Hardy‘s coaching staff. Former Salt Lake City Stars head coach Scott Morrison was recently added to the staff.
We have more from the Northwest Division:
- Chris Finch maintains strong support from the Timberwolves front office and key players, including Anthony Edwards, according to Chris Hine of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Finch and his staff have done a good job developing the team’s young players, but he will be under pressure in his third season as head coach. He must find ways to generate more offense and improve the team’s rebounding, among other issues.
- Speaking of Edwards, the Timberwolves star is expected to sign with global entertainment agency WME, Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and TNT tweets. Edwards has reportedly committed to playing for Team USA this summer.
- The Jazz will continue to focus on player development next season but their primary focus this offseason will be working on extensions for Lauri Markkanen and Jordan Clarkson, Yossi Gozlan of HoopsHype writes in his offseason primer. Clarkson holds a player option on his contract for next season, so he may be on track for free agency. The extension rules in the new CBA will make Markkanen eligible for a three-year, $81.9MM deal.
Twin towers 2.0 needs to be coached into rebounding more? Not a great look
They barely played together and almost none of it was when they were healthy.
Ant’s villain in that Juancho/Sandler movie was magnifique & sorta reminiscent of Big Boi’s villain in ATL. Hopefully Ant being down w/ William Morris means we get to see more of him on the big screen
If he repeats last off season he ain’t got a hollywood career…
“Finch will be under pressure in his third season as head coach. He must find ways to generate more offense and improve the team’s rebounding,”
And it will have to be done without benefit of new talent via meaningful draft choices since Connolly gave away the farm to get Gobert, (resulting in substantially less than the expected results.) and stripped the team of draft capital for years down the road. Doubtful that there will be a meaningful addition with pick #53. Besides the Timberpuppy organization throughout their history has demonstrated time and time again that they are completely incapable of drafting and developing NBA talent through second round draft choices choosing to instead use them for trade fodder for money, trade fodder for future second round picks, draft and stash prospects that never see a glimpse of NBA court time and just in essence giving them away in trades of bigger, more involved player moves. GOOD LUCK !!
Lay off the meth buddy.
Lol this dude been having problems for years. Since the “timberpuppies inception” to be exact.
They still have second round draft picks they could package with players in trades. Plus, they got a few more at the trade deadline.
Keep in mind, the Bucks were able to trade several second round picks for Crowder. Their draft picks are always at the end of the draft, too. Minnesota’s will likely always be towards the middle or so. Much better value, but not ideal. At least it’s something.
I could draft better than the Wolves with a eye patch on my good eye and 5 ounces of booger sugar on the nightstand.
Where is David Kahn anyhow???
The Wolves are in a bit of a mess…
Neither of their young stars have the work ethic to be great…
KAT used to be the picture of durability and is now headed towards having the nick name street clothes…
Whilst Ant can’t last a quarter of the season before looking worn out… With constant reports of a fast food diet that is not surprising…
Might be time to see what the market can bring and build around Naz and McDaniels…
Trade KAT, and Gobert, but atleast 1 and deepen the Wolves roster.
They had so many let downs with players not playing up to par last season…
Its either coaching, or personnel
Maybe both?
Ever notice that regardless of whether the Timberpuppies are ahead or behind coming out of halftime, they are usually FLAT in QTR #3?
Don’t know if it is a physical player issue, a heart player issue, an emotional player issue or the inability of the coaching staff to make meaningful, on-court adjustments to counter their opponents first half performance.
How could you expect puppies to maintain their energy for 48 minutes? Rest is an important step in young dogs growth! I like to feed my border collie pup organic chicken meat.
I thought the TWolves were one of the teams that actually needed a new coach. Who they have might be well thought of. However, if you look at the constant turmoil, then this team is showing the classic signs of a team without true leadership.
They’re not getting that leader through the draft so they should bring in a better coaching staff with a true leader at the helm. That or make a trade for Draymond or bring back Beverly.
“Chris Finch maintains strong support”.
He purchased new jock straps !!
