JUNE 23: The Warriors and Wizards have completed the Jackson-Davis trade separately from their larger Paul/Poole deal. According to a press release, Golden State acquired Jackson-Davis’ rights in exchange for cash considerations.
As noted below, Baldwin will be included in the Paul/Poole trade rather than this one.
JUNE 22: The Warriors are acquiring the No. 57 pick from the Wizards and drafting Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis, Shams Charania of The Athletic tweets.
The same two teams agreed to a much bigger trade on Thursday, with the Warriors trading Jordan Poole and future draft picks to the Wizards for Chris Paul. The Wizards are also acquiring Patrick Baldwin as part of that deal, according to Charania (Twitter link). It’s unclear whether Golden State’s acquisition of the No. 57 pick will be folded into the larger trade as well.
Jackson-Davis, a 6’9” forward, was one of the most productive college players in the nation last season, averaging 20.9 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists for the Hoosiers.
Baldwin Jr. was Golden State’s first-round pick last season and appeared in 31 regular-season games.
Good spot for him. Now trade Paul for a center. Sign a undrafted PG
This is a team with championship aspirations. You don’t run a undrafted backup point guard out there. Chris Paul is perfect.
The undrafted PG would be third PG off the bench. I didn’t say anything running a undrafted PG out there. Relax and don’t assume stuff.
Obviously he will get as much time as Rollins did last year. What’s wrong with you lol.
Then who’s the backup point guard? What’s wrong with you? What kind of question is that? You relax, or don’t post if you don’t want questions to your statements.
When have I ever written anything about your posts in a negative way? You’re coming down the wrong alley here pal.
There goes last year’s draft picks … Baldwin and Rollins… just like that… whew… no more youth movement… wow
Didn’t the Warriors have 2 draft picks this year. Funny, I could have sworn they did.
They traded 2 seconds in 2019 for the opportunity to draft Alen Smailagić
Full lord of the rings recap in this article: link to goldenstateofmind.com
“Just for a fun little detour, here’s the history of the Warriors second-round pick this year: they traded it, along with their 2021 second-round pick (which eventually became David Johnson) to the New Orleans Pelicans on draft day in 2019, in exchange for the No. 39 pick … Alen Smailagić. A few weeks later, the Pelicans sent both picks to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Derrick Favors. On Christmas eve, the Jazz sent the 2023 pick, along with another second-round pick and Dante Exum, to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Jordan Clarkson. At the trade deadline that year the Cavs sent John Henson and Brandon Knight to the Detroit Pistons for Andre Drummond, and also agreed to send either their own 2023 second-round pick or the Warriors’, whichever was worse. The Cavs had a better record than the Dubs this year, so they kept Golden State’s pick, which will be No. 49, while Cleveland’s own pick (No. 55) got sent to Detroit, who rerouted it to the Milwaukee Bucks, who passed it on to the Indiana Pacers.”
Ok, salary dump. Whatever you want to call it. Just like Wiseman…. Yet, Warriors still havent solved their luxury tax issues. There’s no way they will keep Curry, Klay, Wiggins, Draymond, and CP3 unless they also get rid of Kuminga, Moody for minimum vets … And we all know Donte is not coming back.. it’s a major mess to say the least…. No wonder Myers is gone.
They’ve had luxury tax issues for quite a few years now. Why are you all of sudden concerned about it? Getting rid of Kuminga and Moody won’t solve the luxury tax issue.
Michol, they’re running it back this year. Next summer Klay comes off the books so does Chris paul. That’s 70 million dollars. They’re going to be fine.
Yes, most likely Green will sign heavy back loaded contract bcause numbers just wont work even for this yr. His salary this yr could be in the teens. $70m coming off the books is great, but where is the future? I fear ugly trade deadline next season. It will implode.
Yeah sure Michol, GSW is only allowed like $50 to spend on players, and the entire roster has to be traded. You’re totally right dude (eyeroll)
Pocket watching GSW is the final boss of pathetic NBA coping. Just admit you hate GSW and want to see them totally broken up and in last place. You likely are a hurt Lebron fan who is big mad Steph went 3-1 vs him in the Finals.
The dumping of Poole is to be able to spend on Green. The warriors got screwed on the new CBA and can’t just keep spending over the cap. Meyers had a completely different vision than Kerr. So now we can watch who is correct since 3 of them is with Washington now. The question going into the season is will CP3 stay on the team or flip for another player?
@Giants74 no you were right, GSW got the #19 and #57 picks in this Draft.
They bought the 57 late last night. It was a secondary deal with the Wizards.
GUI santos still there
Lester Quinones is going to have a spot on the 15-man, according to insider reports.
Are you stupid??
Rollins = Podziemski
Baldwin = Jackson-Davis
Literally 1-for-1 replacements.
Idk how I feel about losing both Rollins and PBJ. Would have been nice to lose just one of them
What is it about Ryan Rollins that you’ve liked? Every time I see him play he gets into trouble and he’s over his head. Turnovers Etc. I think they were tantalized by his physical gifts such as quickness longest arms I’ve seen in my entire life, and can score it a little bit.
But he went to a tiny school so he’s a project that will take a while. Warriors unloading that guarantee this year of too much money for a guy who will sit on the bench is a good move.
Both Rollins and PBJ were already instantly replaced, who cares? They are all “last men on bench” roles, on a contender, they will be garbage time only.
Wait I thought the Warriors were sending Ryan Rollins (not Patrick Baldwin) to Washington in the Poole-Paul trade.
Sounds like it’ll be both.
I wonder if they can trade CP3 and Wiggins for Lebron + whoever makes up the $?
Poole = Paul
Rollins = Podziemski
Baldwin = Jackson-Davis
Plus GSW gets open space on the roster to sign a FA NBA player, and not have to use the 2-way spots in the regular rotations, which is why they lost last year.
so the two end of bench guys are gone in favor of two end of bench guys and then Poole’s dribbling and incessant turnovers while Curry is on the bench getting a breather are replaced by someone who can actually control the floor?
Am I missing something here with all the negativity coming from above in the comments?
Last year’s Warriors draft was questionable at the time and now it looks horrible. At the time they took Baldwin, Jaylin Williams (Arkansas F/C who went to OKC) was the obvious pick as a big who could play inside and instead they rolled the dice on soft playing PBJ. Then they spent 2 million to buy the pick for Rollins and wasted part of their mid level exception to sign him to a guaranteed contract. Lacob/Myers were drunk on the 2 timelines hooch instead of using the draft to find immediate inexpensive bench help (e.g. see Nuggets and Braun).
in fairness, they had Wiseman at the time of last year’s draft
Exactly. They spent all resources, money, and draft picks for what? They have nothing to show for except for Kuminga and Moody who arent developed and currently have low value. Warriors had so much assets 1-2 yrs ago, but basically only have cp3 to show for. Very poor job of maximizing all the great assets we had. I remember then when everybody in the league coveted our draft picks and young players. :(
