The Sixers are hiring Mike Longabardi as head coach of their G League affiliate in Delaware, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweets.
Longabardi has been an NBA assistant since 2003. He spent last season with the Hawks.
Longabardi will replace Coby Karl, who is expected to join Nick Nurse‘s staff in Philadelphia, Kyle Neubeck of The Philly Voice tweets.
We have more on the Sixers:
- Center Paul Reed weighed in on James Harden‘ trade request, saying he hopes the disgruntled guard remains with the Sixers, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes. “James Harden, that’s like my big brother, one of the coolest vets I know,” he said. “I hope he comes back. But I understand business is business. And sometimes you got to do what you got to do. But like I said, that’s like my big brother. I hope he comes back.” Reed stayed with Philadelphia this summer when the Sixers matched Utah’s three-year offer sheet.
- President of basketball operations Daryl Morey hinted on a radio appearance that he tried to swing a trade on draft night for Cam Whitmore, Sean Barnard of Philly Sports Network relays (Twitter link). “There was another prominent player who fell in this year’s draft that we were trying to move up for,” Morey said in a wide-ranging interview on The Anthony Gargano Show. “I couldn’t understand why they were falling because I’ve seen him play live multiple times here in town.” Whitmore, a Villanova product who was selected by the Rockets at No. 20, was named MVP of the Las Vegas Summer League.
- In case you missed it, Harden weighed in on Damian Lillard‘s trade request. Get the details here.
Why does Harden think the grass is greener in Los Angeles?
He knows the Sixers are jammed up by the CBA and so is he
I have no idea, maybe because there will be more blame to go around when they fail in the playoffs??
Harden might be tired of always getting the blame for his team’s failing to make a title run…
Even though any blame he gets is rightfully earned..
Honestly though, I have no idea why he’d want to go to the Clippers. The only thing I can guess is to play with Ty Lue, and I imagine he probably has a few friends on that roster maybe?? IDK…
lol he is from LA. Let’s start there.
Then that would mean Lakers are an option? I am curious to know how Harden and James relationship would go.
Classic Daryl – “Hey everybody, I tried to draft the guy who was really good in summer league”
Well it was reported they were trying to get into the 1st round or 2nd round a week or so leading up to the draft.
Would’ve loved it if we traded into the 10-19 range and grabbed Cam Whitmore, he’d be such as excellent fit with Tyrese Maxey. Harden wants out and who really knows with Embiid but Maxey and Whitmore would give us a young core.
Imagine then swinging a Harden for PG deal, PG would be the perfect co star to Embiid and mentor for young Whitmore.
However Morrey never traded up so that’s all irrelevant. Ofcourse it good to say after he wins summer league MVP oh yeah we tried moving up to get him. Like obviously you didn’t try that hard cause he went from what 5 to 20
Good things are coming from my beloved Houston Rockets. I can’t wait for the day where we are relevant again. The guys that dragged the organization down, now are dragging down Philly. I wonder how Morey got Harden to come to Philadelphia anyways. Was it an exclusive VIP pass to the best strip clubs in Philadelphia? I hear Miss Piggy does a great show! Just ask Kermit
