The Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s NBA G League affiliate, have named Mfon Udofia as head coach, according to a league press release. Brooklyn’s intent to hire Udofia for the G League club was previously reported.
“We’re pleased to welcome Mfon to the Nets family,” Long Island Nets GM J.R. Holden said. “His passion for the game and dynamic coaching style have prepared him to lead our development team on Long Island. Our organization is excited to support Mfon and his staff as they lead the next generation of talent this upcoming season.”
Udofia spent last season as an assistant coach with the Ontario Clippers in the G League. He had prior stints with several other NBAGL franchises.
We have more from the Atlantic Division:
- The Raptors may not be done dealing, but The Athletic’s Eric Koreen examines how the rotation might shake out if the roster remains unchanged. Koreen believes either Pascal Siakam or Scottie Barnes must be on the court at all times for play-making purposes and either OG Anunoby or Gary Trent Jr. need to be on the floor for shooting purposes. He also doesn’t see lottery pick Gradey Dick as a member of a nine-man rotation, given the team’s other commitments.
- With Derrick White the undisputed starting point man with the Celtics, The Athletic’s Jared Weiss breaks down how a pick-and-roll partnership between White and Kristaps Porzingis can unlock the team’s full offensive potential.
- Miles McBride, Jericho Sims or Isaiah Roby could force their way into the Knicks’ rotation, The Athletic’s Fred Katz writes, though if coach Tom Thibodeau goes with his usual nine-man rotation, minutes will be hard to come by for that trio. Katz looks at various lineup combinations and which starter might play with the second unit when the usual four reserves are on the floor.
It would be great if Roby can step up. Since we need a backup to Randle. That’s what all Knick fans are looking at.
McBride is ready imo. The Trade happens. Then I’m sure Quickley is one of players to go. McBride can step in and backup Jalen.
Sims is insurance. He’s the third center. Now Mitch can also be moved. And even Sims could be moved. I like Sims. He’s a solid backup Center. Absolutely can help a team.
Quickley, Fournier, Grimes, #1 pick
DeM DeR >>>>>> to Knicks
As a bulls fan I’d do that
Bulls need a PG with Ball out. Quickley has a chance to be a good starter. His stats as a starting PG.
Immanuel Quickley has averaged 21.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.9 assists in 27 games as a starter in his career.
Grimes is solid and ready for bigger stats. Nice 2way player. Fournier can be bought out. Or showcased till TD for a trade. Plus a #1 pick. We all know DeM is leaving after this yr. So why not get value now.
DeM DeR makes us legit. We will have a lot fun watching playoffs next few yrs.
Still trying to get DeMar Derozan, your key to winning I guess.
No just a big key. I just like the fit. He’s a Thibs kind of player.
Good thing you’re not the GM! Giving up 2 outstanding young pieces, who also effectively shoot 3’s and play solid defense, for a 33 year old guy that does neither of those things well is insane.
First Quickley is not getting mins with Jalen here. Plus he’s do for a contract next yr. Grimes is still a yr or two away. We got plenty of picks …
You have to give up value to get value. We have Donte backing up DeM. DeM DeR makes us top 4 in East . Right Now ….
Winning is what GM does. Next 2-3 yrs we will not win more games with those two than with DeM. Plus we can still add another player. TD or next yr. Knicks are ready NOW. We are not waiting anymore lol…..
Not having Gradey in the rotation is a joke
I don’t understand how you don’t have a 12-player rotation. These players should be the best 500 in the world. There should be very little difference between most of them outside the top 20-30 dude in the league.
