It seems unlikely now that new Sixers point guard Patrick Beverley will play with James Harden in Philadelphia but he doesn’t blame Harden for being upset over his contract situation, Dave Early of LibertyBallers.com relays. Beverley weighed in on the Harden saga on his Pat Bev Podcast With Rone.
“I don’t think it’s coming from a bad place. I think he understands exactly what he’s doing,” Beverley said. “And like I said it’s a tough one, ’cause I know both (Harden and Sixers executive Daryl Morey)…. I understand both guys…. it’s just so many pieces that we’re not educated about. But we do know there was something in place that didn’t go down and one man feels some type of way which he’s entitled to feel that way. So I’m not here for the bad James Harden press at all. … I hope I’m able to suit up and play with James Harden but from the way things are looking, [it’s] unfortunate.”
Beverley signed a one-year deal with the Sixers in July.
We have more from the Eastern Conference:
- DeMar DeRozan ranks as the Bulls’ most valuable trade asset among the team’s core group of players, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun Times opines. DeRozan, a highly-respected veteran scorer with an expiring contract, could be a hot property for a team with championship aspirations. Nikola Vucevic, despite the fact he signed an extension, could bring more in a deal at the trade deadline than Zach LaVine because of his more affordable contract, Cowley writes.
- In a separate story, Cowley weighs in on five key games for the Bulls during this upcoming season. The last of the games on his list is the April 1 contest with the Hawks, who played three highly entertaining, hotly-contested games with Chicago last season.
- The Knicks are one of many teams monitoring the Sixers’ situation and the possibility of Joel Embiid requesting a trade, Matt Ehalt of the New Yok Post writes. It would be an ideal scenario for the Knicks and New York’s top executive, Leon Rose, has the pieces and assets to trade for a superstar. Embiid, whom Rose represented early in the reigning MVP’s career, would immediately make the Knicks serious title contenders.
LMAO, another fake story about the Knicks and Embiid. The Knicks reporters are trying SO hard to make this a thing.
What’s fake in this story? The only thing stated is that the NYK are one of the many teams monitoring the situation. You know for a fact this isn’t so?
NY media can publish fake stories with the best of them, but there’s nothing here that should even be controversial.
Exactly how is monitoring his situation and having the potential assets to get a deal done a “fake story”? It’s not pretending to be anything other than speculation.
I know the NYPost is generally garbage, but still.
I guarantee you that every team in the league is monitoring the Embiid situation. If Leon Rose isnt than he isn’t doing his job as the Knicks are one of the few teams that could pull it off.
Seen this story about the Knicks maybe 15-20 times. Ok we got it!
In terms of any potential Embiid to Knicks deal.
At a minimum I think it would have to be RJ Barrett, Quentin Grimes, Mitchell Robinson and 4 maybe 5 first round picks.
Brunson don’t really need and he’s so key for you guys. IQ don’t want with Maxey and him needing extension. Randle not the biggest fan, he’s just not going to do enough for us in terms of win now.
Now I know it might sound like a lot but Joel is the MVP and in fairness we aren’t taking either of your current two best players. Meaning you’ll still have a very strong team after this trade.
Brunson DiVancenzo Hart Randle Embiid
IQ Fouriner Hartenstein make up the majority of the depth but you’d also have 2 additional open roster spots. Maybe you get a guy like TJ Warren or Kelly Oubre and drop Hart back into being the bench impact player.
Either way, as a Sixers fan, I’d recommend the knicks make this deal cause they’d be a really good side either still enough depth to make a deep playoff run. Possible title contenders.
As for the Sixers in this situation, it’s rebuild time again. Maxey and Grimes would be something I’d like. Not sold on RJ but he holds value. Mitch just fills the centre void and then he load up on picks. I’m sure we could probably get a better return but it’s not awful and if it’s what Embiid wanted then I’d probably do it
Rather have DeM DeR on Knicks……
I don’t see how Philly would ever trade Embiid to NY. Stay away ……
No.
Love DeMar but if Bulls can get IQ back, please make it happen
The Sixers will never trade Embiid to the Knicks
They essentially traded Tatum and a first round pick to Boston in order to move up two spots, so yeah, they’d trade within division if that’s what your insinuating.
You say that like the Soxers intentionally traded the better player to Boston.
The Sixers won’t repeat the worst trade in Franchise history. They are not trading Embiid like the did Moses. They aren’t THAT dumb.
Pretty sure they’ve already outlined a plan to Embiid. You can’t control other crybabies like Harden or Benjalina Simmons.
They’ll have a ton of cap space, and you bring in OG and 2 other players and you’re good. Maxey gets his money. Hopefully they get some draft assets for Harden, dump PJ mid season, Bball learns to shoot, and you make it work for the following year.
Embiid is 29. He may not want to wait another yr to retool. Why would he trust them now. Moreyon is not a guy who can build a winner. Then to do it in one yr.
Are you sure?
Morey traded for Harden…
Are you sure?
Yeah that’s your answer. Harden ……??
You might want to try the Eagles lol.
Yeah, “for”.
