With the 2023/24 NBA regular season around the corner, we’re getting serious about predictions for the upcoming campaign and continuing an annual Hoops Rumors tradition.
With the help of the lines from a series of sports betting sites – including Bovada and BetOnline – we’re running through the predicted win totals for each of the NBA’s 30 teams, by division. In a series of team-by-team polls, you’ll get the chance to weigh in on whether you think those forecasts are too optimistic or too pessimistic.
In 2022/23, our voters went 16-14 on their over/under picks. Can you top that in ’23/24?
We’ll keep our series going today with the Southeast Division…

I don’t understand why more all stars wanting a ring do not go to the eastern conference. 2 top teams in the east and 6 in the west. Seems like all the big name stars are in the west
6 in the West? Nah, it’s Denver and everyone else
Denver lost key players. Now that they are world champs they will find out what GSW went through. When you are the top team every team in the NBA tries much harder against you. Even the bad teams will throw everything they have at Nuggets.
Denver will have a hard time repeating the success of last year. Other teams have improved and Denver has lost several key players without replacing them. Doing it again is always a huge ask of any championship team. Often too much to ask.
Brown and Uncle Jeff were important but replaceable. The youth in Watson and Nnaji should make the leap. Watson in particular will and Brown needed to leave for those minutes to be freed up. Those were the only 2 guys that left.
I wouldn’t say stars looking for rings need to move. I think guys that are nearing a payday should look to move East. The West All Stars are basically locked in due to popularity Curry, Bron, KD, Fattion, Jokic, Booker, Wemby now, Luka, Ja, and Street Clothes will be in due to votes and league. That leaves 2 All Star with Ant likely as one. Jamal Murray never getting in the AS game like Mike Conley back in the day.
East AS locks are Joel, Freak, Dame, Brown, Tatum, Mobley, and maybe Spida. Everyone else like Bam, Butler, Lavine, Demar, Trey, Randle, Brunson, Raptor guys are boarder lines. Whatever team has the best record will get AS so those guys get the special contract increase so Banchero, Cade, Maxey can get their bonus before a Keegan, Sharpe, Giddey, Chet.
