NBA teams must report information concerning player injuries, illnesses and rest for all NBA games. Teams must designate a participation status and identify a specific injury, illness or potential instance of a healthy player resting for any player whose participation in the game may be affected by such injury, illness or rest.
The Utah Jazz were required to include Walker Kessler on the injury report for the seven games after he played in after the opening game. The participation status for Walker Kessler could have been Available or Probable and the identification of the injury or reason for his status could have been Injury/Illness – Left Elbow; Sprain, which is exactly what the Utah Jazz have used as the reason prior to the last 3 games.
Dana Gauruder’s stated, “Lots of guys play through undisclosed injuries. If the team felt he would miss any of those games prior to Nov. 8 and didn’t report it, that would be a violation. Otherwise, don’t see how they could punish Utah.”
Does Dana Gauruder want to amend his answer to the chat question?
If a player, in the judgment of the Team, is expected to be unable to participate in any basketball practice or game due to an injury, illness, or other medical condition for a period of two or more weeks, the Team’s first public statement regarding such player’s injury, illness, or other medical condition may only describe such injury, illness, or other medical condition and the anticipated date when such player will be re-evaluated by the Team. The Team may make subsequent public Article XXII 383 statement(s) with all relevant medical information only after such re-evaluation has occurred.
