The Pistons, who have been hit by a wave of injuries in the early going, got some more bad news on Tuesday. Joe Harris has an AC sprain in his shoulder and will be reevaluated in 10-to-14 days, James Edwards III of The Athletic tweets.
Detroit had six other players out on Monday against Golden State due to injury or illness. Harris, acquired from Brooklyn during the offseason, has averaged a modest 3.4 points in 14 minutes this season. He’s in the final year of his four-year, $75MM contract.
We have more injury-related news:
- Hornets starting guard Terry Rozier will miss at least the next two games. He underwent an MRI which confirmed a left adductor strain, the team’s PR department tweets.
- Bucks forward Khris Middleton will have the night off against the Pistons on Wednesday due to right knee injury management, Eric Nehm of The Athletic tweets.
- Clippers backup center Mason Plumlee has been diagnosed with a left knee MCL sprain, according to ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk and Adrian Wojnarowski. Plumlee is undergoing further evaluation, but he’ll miss at least the next two games.
- Derrick Rose has missed the last three games due to left knee soreness and he’s “week-to-week,” according to coach Taylor Jenkins, as Damichael Cole of the Memphis Commercial Appeal relays. He’s among eight Grizzlies players who will be sidelined when Memphis faces Miami on Wednesday, the team’s PR department tweets. John Konchar (hip strain) is listed as doubtful.
- Rui Hachimura is listed as probable by the Lakers for their contest against Houston on Wednesday after missing four games while in concussion protocol, Khobi Price of the Orange County Register tweets.
Dang, ever since he turned 30 its been a tough slide for Joe Harris.
Plus, having 8 guys out for the Grizz this early is crazy.
I really like Bane and J.Jack, as players, but they can’t be their only main cogs if they want to have a successful season.
I imagine once Ja comes back things will get a heck of alot easier for Memphis, but it’s been a tough start for sure.
Yeah, Smart hasn’t worked out too well so far. But I think even with Tyus back, they’d have issues. The perimeter defense now looks way more limp than it should, even with Brooks gone. A ten spot slide in overall defense and twenty spot one in 3pt defense should NOT be happening given that Smart and JJJ are both former DPOYs, and Bane is an excellent defender relative to most SGs. They’re currently the worst team in terms of opponent’s 3pt attempts per game, and 29th of 30 in opponent’s 3pt%. They just aren’t contesting shots well at all. Their defense inside the arc has dropped off too, but nowhere near as drastically.
Idk Smart is doing his job defensively. He never was a true PG. He isn’t shooting great from 3. But overall I think they are getting the same Marcus Smart the Celtics had.
They just have a glaring hole at Center and Ja is out, who dominates the ball typically.
They could end up with a Top 5 pick this year. I don’t know that they make too many moves this yr. I would move Kennard for Wiseman and try that out or Gafford who is signed for 2 more years to try and sure up Center and backup C if or when Adam’s returns. They aren’t a contender this year, so I think any real changes ultimately happen in the offseason.
What if Clippers signed Demarcus Cousins? That would really make them an if only this was 10 years ago team.
So I guess Middleton simply isn’t going to play more than half the games this year..? Or possibly the rest of his career.
Looking like an even worse investment than I thought when he signed the deal..and I sort of assumed he was going to be healthy by the start of the season.
Don’t need him vs Detroit.
Not really my point, but maybe they did need him just a little bit.
