The rebuilding Wizards are off to a 2-7 start, but rookie Bilal Coulibaly continues to impress. The No. 7 pick of the draft, Coulibaly scored a team-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a loss to Brooklyn on Saturday. He also knocked down a season-high four 3-pointers.
“He was really good,” Wizards head coach Wes Unseld Jr. said. “He looks really calm out there, very confident. He’s aggressive. He’s got a pretty good read on when and how. He looks comfortable behind the three-point line, which is I think a bright spot. I just think [he needs to] continue to build.”
We have more from the Southeast Division:
- Miles Bridges‘ court hearing scheduled for Monday in Charlotte was continued to a later date — Feb. 20, 2024, ESPN’s Baxter Holmes tweets. Bridges was scheduled to answer a summons tied to a violation of a protective order from January. The Hornets forward’s 10-game league suspension to start the season will end this week and he’s expected to play a significant role once he’s eligible, beginning on Friday against Milwaukee.
- With guards Tyler Herro (sprained ankle) and Kyle Lowry (rest) sitting out, the Heat got a major contribution from Duncan Robinson on Sunday. He finished with a season-high 26 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, along with five rebounds and four assists in a win over San Antonio. Robinson has expanded his offensive game, making half of his eight buckets inside the arc, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald notes. “Duncan was so good (Sunday) at all levels, his ability to put the ball on the floor, his play-making, off-the-movement stuff,” coach Erik Spoelstra said. “And then not letting people forget what he’s here for, also, which is beyond the threes-point line, but it’s not based just off of that. And it just shows you how much his game has grown.”
- The Hawks might play their in-season tournament opener in Detroit on Tuesday without their top player. Trae Young is listed as questionable for personal reasons, Lauren Williams of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution tweets. His wife just gave birth, Williams notes (via Twitter).
I’m sure if I did what Bridges did, my court date wouldn’t be getting pushed back and I’d be in the slammer. This man should be in hail and the NC legal system is a joke.
Coulibaly the future of wiz
Washington’s rotation should be slightly different b/c they should be at least a couple of games better than they’ve been and fighting in that 7-12 range.
Duncan Robinson has always been able to do the things he is doing, but he has more opportunities with Herro out, as the balloons better and leads to more touches for everyone else, with less guys that need the ball in their hands out there. I also think he has slightly improved with his handle getting a little tighter, and honestly, I think his confidence around the rim is a lot more. I think he used to get to the rim, and sometimes would crumble in those situations, but now he has more confidence when he gets there, and also, his finishing is slightly better
You say a lot of strange… and false things about the Heat.. often. Why? Duncan was a 3 or nothing player for the first 3 years of his career.. 2 years ago (after the big contract) he started driving and moving without the ball… it was niche but it was nice to see. Last year was a massive step back in that progress… so far this year, it appears as if he’s 100% figured out how to drive to the basket and move without the ball to get himself open inside the 3… these elements are new and something he’s been building on.. no, not something he’s “always been able to do”… I have to question if you actually watch the heat play with some of the weird things you say at times.
Roflmao…comprehension is hard for some people. Duncan can put the ball on the floor. Just b/c you don’t know that doesn’t mean that wasn’t a thing the last couple of years. He should have been playing the whole time, just like I said Highsmith should have been starting the whole time. It’s fine. I say a lot about a lot of players here over the years, and eventually, when those players get opportunities they should, people start to see it one way or another. Austin Reaves is one example
I backed up what I said with stats and facts.. you reply with “roflmao” followed by insults…. are you a child? Cleary you know nothing of what you speak.. it would make sense.
I shouldnt have just said Roflmao…What i actually meant is Learn2basketball
I guess Eric Reid and John Crotty don’t know wtf they’re talking about either.. they made the exact statement and point I did during tonight’s game against the Nets… everyone’s dumb but you eh buddy.. keep living on a message board lil fella.
for further context… the first three years of his career Duncan took 80-90% of all his shots from behind the arc… so far this year that has dipped to about 65% from 3…. if you don’t get the MASSIVE difference that is for a player like him.. I can’t help you.
