Bulls guard Zach LaVine and Raptors forward OG Anunoby continue to be two names to watch as possible trade targets for the Sixers, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, who said during an appearance on FanDuel’s Run it Back (Twitter video link) that Philadelphia has monitored both players and has “a level of interest” in them.
The Sixers have several expiring contracts that could be used as salary-matching pieces in a deadline trade. The biggest of those expiring deals belongs to Tobias Harris, who is earning $39.27MM this season before reaching unrestricted free agency in 2024.
According to Charania, while the 76ers value Harris and want to keep him around, there are “a lot of teams” keeping an eye on the veteran forward, whose scoring output has slowed down recently (11.3 PPG in his past 11 games) following a hot start (19.3 PPG in his first 16 games).
Here are a few more trade-related notes from around the NBA:
- Zach Lowe of ESPN (Insider link) is the latest reporter to confirm that the Cavaliers have shown no inclination to make Donovan Mitchell available via trade. That stance may not change unless Mitchell expresses unhappiness in Cleveland, Lowe adds.
- Within the same ESPN story, Lowe makes a case that the Thunder should be active on the trade market this season, pointing out that there’s plenty of middle ground available between standing pat and trying to land a superstar. Oklahoma City is good enough that even overpaying for one starter-caliber player could make the team a legitimate title contender, Lowe argues.
- In the third article in a series examining the Heat‘s trade options, Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald takes a closer look at 10 Eastern Conference rivals, exploring which of them might make the most sense as trade partners for Miami.
Gordon Hayward to OKC
Micic, Davis Bertans, Poku & Utah’s top10 protected 2024 1st to Charlotte… or…
Lauri & Jordan Clarkson to OKC
Ousmane Dieng, Micic, Bertans, Poku, Phi’s 2025 1st & Den’s 2027 1st to Utah, plus Utah gets their 2024 1st back
Hayward is not worth the salary dump let alone young players and a 1st
Hayward to OKC? Nice, put the two diddlers together
I would throw up if the Jazz made that trade. Nasty work
76ers not getting OG with Tobias as a centerpiece. They can get Lavine but I don’t know if the Bulls would want him so a 3rd team is needed.
As a Bulls fan I’d absolutely take Tobias expiring for LaVine. Harris can play the backup 4, which the Bulls don’t have right now.
OKC trade pieces Poku, Mann, Bertans for cap, the center pieces can be either Dort or Giddey. I would like to see them get a big, names that come to mind Capela, Turner is Indy finally wants to trade him, Lauri, Mark Williams. Non bigs OG which would need to involve Dort and only if a contract is set up for OG.
What package could OKC give ATL to make us give them Clint Capela?
The Thunder could use some more size but I don’t think Capela fits. Chet looks as if he’s going to be a phenomenal rim protector. Shai is a slasher. He needs guys that can that play on the perimeter and play one on one, Capela and Williams can do neither. If they’re willing to go all in, Markannen, Turner and Siakim make sense. Dort and a lot of picks could get them Markannen. I don’t think Turner or Siakim are available at a reasonable price. They can then slide Jalen Williams to SF on offense and have Giddey defend SFs on D.
Thunder better off going after Okongwu. He’d look nice next to Chet. Imo still had upside. Atlanta has not helped him.
Okongwu should be playing over Clint.
The constant Donovan trade talk seems desperate. He still has years on contract and he gets more money by waiting. They are a good looking team on paper, unless he complains they won’t trade him. They have a strong 4 although a small back court they just need to be healthy.
one year left on his contract after this season, Allen and Mobley both can’t shoot which is a bad combo and they don’t have a legitimate wing
So trade Allen, not Mitchell. Sports media is pushing this agenda of Mitchell to the Knicks and while I’m sure he’d love to play there, when it comes down to it I think Mitchell just wants to win.
Meh. LaVine is a ball hog and OG doesn’t provide enough offense.
Sixers don’t need a scorer. They need a worker who plays great D. OG also rebounds and passes the ball. A steady 16-18 pts a gm is all they need from him. This is Embiid and Maxeys team now.
OG is a great fit in Philly. He does not need the ball. And will still get you 16. Plus he’s a top D player. This is the guy that changes everything in Philly. Sixers should be making offers.
Harris will play out his contract in Philly. Sixers with right trade (OG). Could be in East Finals. Then it’s just 4 wins away from NBA Finals. Sixers have a big opportunity to get better. They like Knicks have to make a trade. It’s the right time.
LaVine does not fit in Philly. He needs a passer to really pay off. Bron will always find him. So will Reaves. My guess is if Zach gets traded this yr. It’s to the Lakers.
Here’s the problem though Al, Philly has absolutely nothing to give up for him. The only young player they have that is signed past this year is Jaden Springer, who is a fringe NBA player. They can trade OG for expiring deals and picks, but Philly can’t send out a 1st until the Clippers 2027, and can only send out two in total.
Raps will get better offers for OG than that.
You do know that the Thunder have a guy named Chet Holmgren on the team, right? There is also Jaylin and Poku on the roster, so I don’t understand why they would want a guy like Capela to back up Chet.
Personally, I think that they have enough talent at every position and crazy draft capital that it’s swing for the fence time. They’ve got to be Superstar chasing now.
Yes I agree ….. but who.
A superstar needs the ball. They don’t need another one of those they need a guy that can protect the paint and be tough in the post. If they hope to win the title they would need to face some combo of Joker, Sabonis, AD, Embiid if in finals, Towns. Chet is good and will continue to get good, but he does not have the strength. When the Kings plays them Sabonis attacks through Chet and others just drive right at him. The good smart teams are going to do that in a 7 game series. They need the other big to take that while he can rim protect.
No superstar because SGA has the ball a lot, Williams is good with the ball in his hands, you want Chet to continue developing his offense, Giddey stays he is more of a PG minded player so he needs to set guys up.
Mitchell isn’t going anywhere. He’s in a great situation. That Cavs team healthy, is a top team. Plus it’s one that is getting better. Young and still learning team chemistry. I don’t see DM wanting to leave. He’ll resign .
Sixers should scoop up project Kenny Lofton Jr and roll the dice with him
Makes no sense why Tor would give up OG unless it’s a pretty good return
