Draymond Green‘s indefinite suspension appears to be nearing an end. The veteran power forward is expected to return to the Warriors’ practice facility in the next few days, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Green will need to ramp up his physical activity and get in some practice time before he suits up again. He will miss his 11th consecutive game on Thursday night, when Golden State faces Denver.
Rejoining the team and working himself back into playing shape is the final step to getting back in action. NBA commissioner Adam Silver will determine when Green will be reinstated, but sources told Wojnarowski that Green will have satisfied the league’s requirements to return once he’s ready to play again.
Green was suspended on Dec. 13 for repeated violent acts, most recently when he struck Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the head last month.
He has been participating in individual counseling sessions and virtual meetings that include team, league and union officials designed to chart his progress toward reinstatement, according to Wojnarowski. Green’s agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. and team trainer Rick Celebrini, along with NBPA and NBA officials, are part of these ongoing sessions.
Green is in the first season of a four-year, $100MM contract and is losing $153,941 for every game he misses during the suspension.
The Warriors are 6-4 during Green’s absence but are still one game under .500.
What are the chances Green can even finish the season and the playoffs without another incident?
The inner Draymond hater in wants to say 0 but realistically pry decent only because losing the money of being suspended the rest of the year will keep him in check.
I think 0 is probably correct (depending on your definition of “incident”).
Right now I wouldn’t be sure that the Warriors make the playoffs.
Draymond Green is a player to watch during the next month because he can be playing his last month with the Golden State Warriors. Trade deadline February 8th so it’s a chance Mike Dunleavy Jr. will look to trade him.
50/50 His return will show his IQ level. Other teams are going to go after him and try to get him kicked out. It has worked before because he can’t control his anger. He needs to keep his mouth shut and not complain about fouls or if he gets pushed on purpose. He better know he has a target on his back and just take it. If he doesn’t he learned nothing and will get suspended.

trade him to Lakers
The rest of the league just needs to stop being soft and calm down draymond didn’t hurt Nurkic or Gobert they are both awful actors that everyone bought into
So we’re supposed to wait until after he ends someone’s career with his crap, hm? Nah. Green’s a good player, but he was also being a jackass. Earned every second of that suspension.
Hopefully he settles himself and doesn’t keep clowning himself and his team.
Nah Draymond needed to calm down…
Let’s see if he stops acting like a 5 year old on the court…
We all saw the choke hold and we all saw the unnecessary karate chop.
League isn’t soft. There’s 0 reason to put someone in a choke hold and 0 reason to turn around and karate chop a dude guarding you.
Gobert especially he is a clown
He wasn’t suspended, Rudy Gobert obviously gave him COVID
Natch, Golden State wants to make the playoffs. Still, Green is out of control.
Green is an ass. Somebody is going to body slam Him. I hope Adams plays super hard against him next year.
I suggest you watch a sport you have more knowledge about
The day he is retaliated against will be hilarious…
Adams would just be able to man handle him like the child Green acts like…
Dray looks like he has a roid rage issue. Google George Karl steroids NBA. A lot of juicers…
Dray is an ass. Nobody should deny that. But ending someone’s career come on? NBA is soft.
What other basketball league is deciding its games at the free throw line? Stop rewarding these gimmick offensive players (Jocker… ect ) they live at the foul line I for one agree with Steve Kerr
It’s a good look for everyone involved and all, but less than a month of counseling changes very little and likely nothing.
I disagree. The light coming on and going cold turkey is a real thing. There comes a time when a man says okay enough. And turns the corner and good things happen.
I’m hoping for the best for Draymond Green for his sake and the Warriors sake. I believe the light will come on for him at some point. He’s approaching his mid-thirties it’s about time.
Far too short to be meaningful…
It’s just going to be another round of “Let’s see how long Draymond cares about losing money”…
Oh well… At least the NBA made it look like they tried… Adam Silver needs to stop being soft with the discipline… It’s the whole reason Draymond and others are out of control…
Far too short? If the purpose is Rehabilitation and restoration, time has nothing to do with it. It’s a decision by Draymond Green to turn the corner.
Not always but hopefully the case here is that the light has come on, he’s decided enough is enough, and the immature actions on the court ends right here.
Yeah Josh Gordon had plenty of chances too. Just couldn’t stop smoking. Suspension after suspension. Substance abuse after substance abuse programs.
A dude going as far as Draymond has gone choke holds karate chops nut kicking stepping on opponents and shows little remorse for his actions isn’t suddenly gonna stop after a few therapy sessions.
Teams know his weakness. Anger. So they’re gonna push on him and make his life hell on the court till he snaps cause then he’s done for the season. Ain’t no secret he has anger issues. And his next incident should be a life time ban. Guaranteed teams are gonna frustrate him and he will snap like he always has.
Completely agree…
Someone who is that easy to trigger needs a lot longer to be able to handle a competitive environment where they will constantly be targeted…
Whilst it’s good that he didn’t fight that process he’s going to be a former alcoholic sitting at a bar with his best friend offering a beer every 5 mins…
Another wrist slap.
