Knicks forward Josh Hart sat out Thursday’s victory over Washington due to left knee soreness, which the team referred to as patellar tendinopathy, writes Peter Botte of The New York Post.
Hart, who described himself as day-to-day, said it’s an issue that has affected him in past seasons, but that it popped up earlier than usual this year after a shortened summer that included a stint with Team USA.
“I’m not surprised with how it feels. Normally, once you get later in the season, Game 50-ish, 55-60 you start kind of feeling it,” Hart said. “Then you have a little All-Star break so you can kind of rest for some days and then get back into it. So I’m not surprised with the shorter summer that it’s kind of starting to bite me in the butt a little bit a little earlier than it normally does. But it’s not something that is too serious.”
Here’s more on the Knicks:
- With multiple reports indicating that the Knicks have made Quentin Grimes available via trade, Ian Begley of SNY.tv (Twitter video link) identifies a few of the teams that have expressed interest in the third-year wing, suggesting that the Jazz, Hawks, Rockets and Grizzlies are potential suitors for Grimes.
- Barbara Barker of Newsday argues that Tom Thibodeau has earned a contract extension from the Knicks, not only for the success the team has had on the court in recent years but for the way he has helped change the culture around the franchise.
- Former teammate Fred VanVleet views OG Anunoby as an “absolutely perfect” fit for the Knicks, he said on Wednesday, according to Botte. “Thibs is gonna love him, obviously. But I think more than that, with all those Villanova guys you got over here, he fits right into that mold, a similar type of personality and player,” VanVleet said. “I think he’s a great fit for their team, and you could see it right away the way he plugged right in and was able to have success. Definitely, I think New York is gonna love him.”
- Former Knicks RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, who will face their old team on Saturday for the first time since being traded to Toronto last month, spoke ahead of their return about how much their time in New York meant to them, per Steve Popper of Newsday. Barrett said he’ll have “mixed emotions” being back in Madison Square Garden, since it was “definitely difficult” to leave the place where he spent the first four-and-a-half NBA seasons, even though he’s enjoying playing for his hometown Raptors.
Someone here told me Knicks are worse after OG trade. I’m still waiting for and explanation…….. ?????
You’ll never hear from him….bench scoring is what we lost but what they got in defensive intensity beats that by 10 fold…the bench scoring is available a dime a dozen and they will definitely get some before the deadline any of the guys that have been mentioned will be fine but Knicks seem to come out of nowhere with trades I wonder if your favorite Bull player is the next target because nobody is talking about it.
Yeah even though I want DeM or Murray. I believe they are going to spruce up the bench. Wait for Mitch and go for the big trade next yr. I agree it’s about the bench now.

Hold my coffee. It happens here all the time somebody who doesn’t watch a team thinks they know what that team needs. I hear it all the time the warriors need this player when they multiple players.
Knicks no alpha dog, no honcho, no shining star for playoff game. Becky is right
Lot of people eating some humble pie. Name em shame em

“Anunoby has been a strong contributor on both ends of the floor for the Knicks, and he’s made a historic first impression on the fan base. According to basketball writer Tommy Beer, no player in NBA history has recorded a better plus-minus than Anunoby (+170) across their first 10 games with a team.
The previous best mark was held by Pau Gasol in his first 10 games with the Los Angeles Lakers, when he registered a plus-minus of +151. Anunoby cleared that mark by a significant margin, as he’s wasted no time adapting to his new surroundings.”
8-2 since trade. And that’s with bench troubles. Knicks seem like they are looking to strengthen the bench. Then go after a big name next yr.
DeM to >>>> Knicks …..
Interesting that Hart concedes All-Star is always a ‘break’ for him…
OG presence has ignited our team definitely on the defensive end but on the offense the court is spaced out for Brunson and Randle to operate. I like Mcbride but we need another guard that can brake down a defense and overall start the offense make sure people are in there spots.
I’d still like for the Knicks to hold onto Grimes. Good D, sweet shot, he just needs to let it loose more often and be more aggressive on the offensive side.
I have always said that. Get his handle tight and be more selfish. Cause that shot is sweet. I think Thibs wants to move on.
Knicks have to ask themselves if they didn’t move him for Mitchell, then why would they give up now, one year later. They need to make adjustments to his mindset, that’s all. The talent is there. He’s right for the team, and between McBride and Grimes, that can be an inexpensive, yet effective backup backcourt.
I always liked RJ. Still do. He is still getting better. He will a top 2way player one day. Have to admit didn’t know OG as well. He absolutely is a perfect fit here. Quickley was never going to start in NY. So he had to go elsewhere. I’m rooting for both of them. NY will give them a standing O …..
I saw an article about Mavs wanting Grimes. Hardaway and Powell to Knicks. Mavs also get picks….. that’s not a bad deal. Hardaway can start here. And Donte to bench.

NYK shouldn’t trade Grimes. Real 2-way SGs on RSCs aren’t hard to replace, they’re impossible to replace.
What team, in recent years, has traded a 3rd year guard (with salaries of 2.3 mm this year and 4 mm next year) who’s already a defensive ace and shoots close to 40% from 3-? I think the answer is none. Sometimes being the first works out, but most of the time it doesn’t.
Thibs and Rose want results now. I think that’s why they are shopping Grimes. Guys like Brown, Rozier, Dinwiddie, Clarkson, Sexton even. Are ready right now. Knicks looking to strengthen bench with players that can give production now. That’s what it looks like to me.
Well, that’s how NYK teams (and other teams) of the past have produced losing teams year after year. Wanting something now, even though it couldn’t be smartly put in place now. So they stupidly put it in place.
This NYK FO has avoided that trap for 3 years, and I hope they continue to. I generally trust them. But I’m honestly not sure what’s going on with Grimes. Linking a Grimes trade to getting another bench piece doesn’t make much sense to me. We have other assets that can be used for a bench piece. Trade deadline rental pieces trade for SRPs, not guys like Grimes. We’ll see what happens. I don’t trust media reports.
It’s just the bench DXC. Seems they don’t want to overpay for a player now. Strengthen the bench now. Then you can trade next yr. Any player they get now. They can move for a boot name. Grimes has regressed. He had his shot. I like him. I just think his time with Thibs has run out. Grimes one day could be better than Dinwiddie or Terry. But right now they are better. Personally I have always like Terry and Dinwiddie.
Grimes seems to be overpriced for a guy that isn’t aggressive and wildly inconsistent. Sounds almost exactly like Agbaji. Although, Ochai is at least a physical specimen and a great person. What’s Grimes like?
IMO Grimes is a keeper. Are the Knicks a desirable destination yet to possibly get someone in the buy out market?
