The NBA has elected to postpone the game between the Warriors and the Jazz that had been scheduled for Wednesday night, the league announced in a press release (via Twitter).
The postponement is due to the medical emergency affecting Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic. As we detailed this morning, Milojevic suffered a “sudden and serious” health issue on Tuesday during a private team dinner with Golden State coaches and players.
The exact nature of Milojevic’s health issue isn’t known, but the postponement of tonight’s game is a clear indication of how significant it is. He has been hospitalized in Salt Lake City.
[UPDATE: Milojevic has passed away at age 46]
According to the NBA, a new date for the game between the Warriors and Jazz will be announced at a later time.
The next game on Golden State’s schedule is a Friday contest at home vs. Dallas.
Prayers for Milojevic…
Wow he must be in very bad shape for them to postpone the game. prayers for him and his family.
Ive never heard of anything like this. Teams play all the time while theyre head coaches are out with medical issues. Hope hes ok this is a weird one.
Like outside covid postponements I cant even think of the last postponement…
With most of those, it’s either medical procedures or not anything particularly serious. From the reporting around Milojevic’s health, it seems likely he either almost died or could still.
Pretty wild considering he’s just a assistant coach.
Prayers for him but pretty ridiculous to postpone a game because of something healthy wise that happened to a assistant lol
Sounds like whatever happened to him was in front of the team at the dinner and is life threatening. Absolutely appropriate to postpone the game give the circumstances.
I guess you would go to work after someone in your family or friend group had a medical emergency. Heartless
He died
Bad take of the year.
Sounds pretty serious, either a stroke or a heart attack, either of which are scary and life-threatening.
Hopefully someone on the scene provided medical attention quickly or they got him to the hospital fast enough to save him.
I don’t want to read too much into it but perhaps they’re canceling the game because he’s unconscious right now and in a touch and go situation? If he was resting comfortably and awake they’d probably play?
Count On Me for prayers for him and his family during this difficult time.
Suspect he had a heart attack at the team dinner and was rushed to slc hospital. The team is suffering from the impact of the event. Haven’t heard specifics but we know he is in slc hospital and the game post poned to address it.
The cynic in me feels like they are just buying more rest for Curry and ramp for Draymond. What is the precedent for this? No games were postponed when they had to watch another player get assaulted in front of everyone.
Not everything is a conspiracy.
No conspiracy. Warriors are a premiere team and the league treats them accordingly. It’s no conspiracy to think they’d get preferential treatment. They’re a moneymaker. Like I said, what’s the precedent? When this happens in Detroit I’ll eat all the crow you got.
Maybe when one of the Pistons coaches dies at a team dinner they will postpone their game. Hope they never have to find out.
Agree I hope so too
Well he died so don’t you look stupid
Lol how do I look stupid? What did I say that wasn’t true? Condolences to him and his family. The two are not mutually exclusive.
I award you a star for your virtue though.
You said it was to buy more time for Steph and Draymond.
I said “the cynic in me feels like”. That is 100% different than saying the league definitely did it for that reason. Just saying it wasn’t out of the realm of possibility — which it’s not.
In this case there was a death, unreported at the time of my speculative comment (on a website with “rumors” in the name, by the way).
So congratulations. A man is dead but you really stuck it to me. I bet that feels great.
Doubling down on your ridiculous comments just confirms who you are
Yeah and who I am is right. Anything else?
If anything ever happens to you make sure your family posts on here so we can just accuse you of trying to get a day off work
OK I’ll get right on that…
Hope you eat crow now that it’s confirmed he died.
Wow you seem almost excited he died just so you could rush to tell me I’m wrong. Very sad.
It’s hard for the team to be focused under the circumstance, but at the same time what about all the people who are working at the arena that day, businesses, and people who have planned in attending the game? It’s a tough call, but nba is always worried about their image. The assiatant coach will be well attended to no matter what. Hope he pulls through.
He did not pull through. Dead at 46.
So sad. Only 46. RIP Coach.
