10:45pm: The Wizards have officially waived Rollins, the team’s PR department tweets.
10:17pm: The Wizards are waiving guard Ryan Rollins, Josh Robbins of The Athletic tweets.
Rollins has appeared in 10 games with Washington, averaging 4.1 points in 6.6 minutes per night.
A second-round pick in 2022, Rollins played 12 games for Golden State last season. He was included in the trade that sent Chris Paul to the Warriors and brought Jordan Poole to Washington.
Rollins had a $1,719,864 salary this season. His deal wasn’t fully guaranteed beyond this season, but it included a $600K partial guarantee for 2024/25, according to Spotrac. The Wizards will be on the hook for that money unless he’s claimed on waivers.
Rollins hasn’t appeared in an NBA contest since Dec. 27. The Wizards are planning to replace him on the roster soon, perhaps with a player on a 10-day contract, according to Robbins.
He’s going to thrive somewhere
A Rollinstone gathers no moss…just minutes
I’m not disagreeing but may I ask you why you think Rollins will thrive somewhere?
He’s young and raw and unknown. Thrive? Words meaning is open to interpretation when it comes to basketball but the kid has something. Looks like a good rotation piece few more years down the road. Needs to bulk up though. This ain’t college
Should get picked up as a 2 way player.

Did he do something wrong? Why release a young talent with guarantee contract?? Just send him to GLeague and have him play everyday. Very confusing unless the player refuses to go to G League.
That’s why I asked the question above. I don’t think he can play. I think the Warriors drafted him on his body not his skill. You can’t do that in the NBA.
Just because he has long arms, he’s fast, and can jump, doesn’t necessarily mean all that will translate. Same thing with the kid Jacob Evans they drafted. Great body but can’t play.
But this is just my opinion Michol. When you say “young talent,” may I please ask, what is his talent? What is he specifically good at right now? Serious question Michol.
No need to over-analyze. The guy is 22 and has GUARANTEE contract for this yr and partial for next yr. You are the worst team in the league, so why are they in a hurry to release him? So they can sign Diello for 10 day contract? It’s bizarre to say the least. This is not about talent or about wins and losses. It’s some off court personal issues. Maybe he offended someone in FO. Doesnt make any sense. He has played very little in nba but he has had some solid gms in G League. Maybe they are hoping someone will claim him, but it’s the weirdest move. It’s like Warriors releasing Santos who has guarantee contract except they are the worst team.
This is another great reminder that the Warriors Bob Myers sucked at evaluating College talent. He was great at many other things but drafting the kids was not one of them.
In the same boat as the others is Lester Quinones. The guy’s just not a player in the NBA. He’s not good enough.
The skill that most stands out that he lacks is ability to create for others and Court vision. He can shoot a little bit, he can score a little bit he’s pretty athletic he has good range, but he cannot set others up and make them better. Just doesn’t have it.
But the Warriors insist on keeping guys like this around whereas most teams see a guy has talent or not and let him go if it’s not there.
Sort of like mac mcclung. You don’t see teams hanging on to him for 3 years. He gets an opportunity they take a look and determine very quickly, usually 1 G league season, that he doesn’t have it and he moves on. Lester Quinones has been with the Warriors 3 years lol
Ever since Myers hit jackpot with Green in 2nd round, they have been trying to find another one. They finally got another one in Trayce Davis.
