Knicks guard Jalen Brunson broke Bernard King‘s franchise record on Sunday with 47 points in New York’s Game 4 win over the Sixers. Brunson didn’t shoot well in the first two games of the series but has averaged 43 points and 11.5 assists in the last two games.
“You expect him to make every shot. He’s a great player,” Knicks forward OG Anunoby said. “Even when he was cold the first couple of games, you knew he was going to turn it around. Just ’cause we see him every day. It was going to turn around eventually.”
We have more from the Atlantic Division:
- Josh Hart didn’t have a field goal in the Knicks’ victory but he made his presence felt in many other areas. He grabbed 17 rebounds, dished out five assists and blocked three shots, Peter Botte of the New York Post notes. “I mean, I had to do something,” Hart said. “I had five turnovers, didn’t make a shot, didn’t hit any free throws, missed two free throws late that were big. So offensively it just wasn’t there today. But when you have that, you have to try to figure out ways to still make an impact in the game. And for me that was rebounding and pushing. Offensive rebound, trying to get extra possessions. Looked athletic on a couple of blocks, so that was nice.”
- Sixers star Joel Embiid called out Philadelphia’s home crowd after the loss, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic (Twitter links). The arena had plenty of fans rooting for the visitors. “Obviously you got a lot of Knicks fans and they’re down the road and I’ve never seen it and I’ve been here for 10 years. Yeah, it kind of pisses me off, especially because Philly is considered a sports town,” he said. “They’ve always shown up and I don’t think that should happen. Yeah. It’s not okay.”
- Knicks center Mitchell Robinson sat out Game 4 due to an ankle injury suffered in the previous game. Robinson warmed up prior to the contest but couldn’t go. Afterward, he was spotted leaving the locker room in a walking boot, Katz tweets.
- Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis has scored 18 points in each of the team’s first-round victories over Miami. He was held to six points in Boston’s Game 2 loss. Getting Porzingis involved in the offense is crucial, Jayson Tatum told Jared Weiss of The Athletic. “He’s probably our most important guy on our team for what we’re trying to accomplish,” he said. “So no doubt in my mind, I knew he was going to have a better game and bounce back.”

Sixer fans wanting a reb in last few mins ….
Let’s get this over and rest.
‘It pisses me off’. Joel Embiid rips Sixers fans as visiting Knicks fans are louder in Philly
More crying …… Waaaahhh wiiihhhhh
pisses me off you didn’t get swept …
In 5 will do. Tuesday night
Made a bet with a good buddy soon as I heard Embiid is playing for the states that Embiid will ask for a trade this off-season. Run out of scapegoats and excuses, a projected gold medal should soften the blow a bit. That protected species numbers have always been deceiving in my opinion. Dining out at the line off so many calls he doesn’t deserve. Turns to water in the 4th. May have a game in a series and that’s about it. Doesn’t handle getting doubled in the post well, turnover king.
Ahahahahahahahaha. You’d need about 9 first rounders and 2 budding all stars to get Morey to say yes. Only way Jo is leaving Philly is if he hits the open market. An oft injured guy who qualifies for a supermax is probably not going to hit free agency until he’s clearly declining.
While Embiid might fit that bill mentally, his physical ability is not in question.
Your price tag for a guy who absolutely stinks in the clutch. Blames everyone but himself who’s body will fail him any second may be a little high. I did see Embiid in the second round once though. Joel will be wheeled in on a wheelchair by the team physio next press conference in a full body cast. MVP suppose to be clutch winners, this dude stinks. Never seen a bigger protected species cry baby in my life.
If Embiid wasn’t threatening to act like Harden then maybe. If he does pull a Harden it will lower his value. How that affects the market? Who knows?
Can Morey’s tenure as an owner survive back to back stars trying to force a trade and games being played without it affecting their ability sign free agents? Again who knows
Better to trade early rather than too late. Embiid is 30 and always hurt. He came in the L hurt. He’s too sensitive for me. See what Philly does with cap. He might ask out.
very strange to hear Joel put the blame on others those Philly fans better bring their a game since the better team is down 3 to 1 I typed all this with my head down
Joel blames the refs for 2 games, had a great game 3 and now blames the fans.
Bro you was yo 10 after the first quarter I don’t want to hear about who was in the crowd.
I’ve been saying it, this dude ain’t getting us no where
Ahh, angry Philly fans turning on their best player.
What a nice way to wake up in the morning.
Embiid is a joke. The Process is now officially over.
Buddy the process has been over for at least 2-3 years now…
Process was over before it even started. Philly fan just has nothing so they latch onto “the Process” is a lame attempt to make their team relevant.
Knicks Jalen Brunson is a closer! That he isn’t up for Clutch Player of the year is ridiculous! As is Celtic’s Coach Joe Mazzulla not up for Coach of the Year.
Yes, Celts didn’t post Kristaps Porzingis in Game 3 as they did in Game 2 loss. Thank goodness and what an important adjustment by Mazzulla! In Game 2 the Heat stripped him each time we tried to get him the ball in the lane. Go Celtics!
Mazulla was up for it, the other coaches just got more votes. Think he finished 4th or 5th.
He is not up for Coach of the Year bc just telling a team to jack up 40+ shots and hope the other team misses is not really a coaching strategy.
Mazzulla is a Junior college coach who barely understands NBA offenses. His teams settle for poor shots because Joe believes he understands analytics and everyone else is just foolish.
Top 2 both sides of the ball.
He was though…

CF believes she understands analytics and everyone else is just foolish. But actually can’t even read good.
How can you not love Josh Hart? Goes 0-7 with 5 TOV and he’s still a +2 in 45 minutes because he just goes so hard every single game. The prime example of “surface stats don’t tell the full story”.
He’s the guy when choosing sides you want on your team. His motor will win it.
And he’s involved in winning plays. Offensive rb and second shots. Won the game lol.
Never seen anything like this.
The question for this coming off-season is whether Embiid wants to prioritize winning, or attention
Sixers have cap space to retool nicely. Buddy and Harris are gone. Resign Ubre and Lowry. Let Lowry retire a Sixer. I really think Fultz at PG is a good fit. Lowry can mentor him. Plus they can get him cheap. All about next yr for Philly.
Embid is a child of tanking. On top of that, he’s been damned, throughout his career, with some of the worst mentors/ role models imaginable. Not a backgound that would suggest championship level success. Although he does have his remakable talent to pit against it, so far, its been a no go. But no child of tanking has ever really led a team to a championship, so if he does, he’ll be the first. After this Knick series is over, I wish him well in that. On a certain level I do consider him a victim.
