Don’t believe the rumor that Suns All-Star guard Devin Booker wants to be moved to the Knicks, Gerald Bourguet of PHNX Sports reports.
ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith claimed on an episode of First Take that Booker “wants to be in New York.” However, a source in Booker’s camp told Bourguet that these rumors are unequivocally false.
The Knicks have been interested in acquiring Booker since Leon Rose became their team president. Rose would like to pair him up with Jalen Brunson, according to Bourguet, and would be willing to do just about anything to make it happen. But the Knicks’ interest in Booker is one-sided, Bourguet writes, as the All-Star guard is loyal to the Suns and likes the idea of sticking with one team his entire career.
We have more on the Suns:
- Several Phoenix players hold contract options for next season and none will be watched more closely than Eric Gordon. According to the Arizona Republic’s Duane Rankin, Gordon hasn’t made a decision on his player option. “There’s no way I’m going to make a decision right now,” Gordon said. “Just enjoy the offseason, watch a lot of these games, see what everybody is doing. We still have a talented team. We just got to jell and mesh together, but I’m not going to make a decision right now.” It’s generally expected that Gordon will decline his $3.36MM option and look for a more lucrative deal.
- Bradley Beal fully expects that the team’s big three – himself, Booker and Kevin Durant – will be more dangerous next postseason, ESPN’s Baxter Holmes relays. “We didn’t look at this thing as a one-year thing and we’re going to come in and just, we only got this year to figure it out,” Beal said. “No, we’ve got time. You don’t want to use that as a cop-out, but the reality we live in, that’s the game plan. We have a window. Yeah, it’s a short window, but we have a window, so we want to maximize it as much as possible. And obviously, we still have a lot of room to grow.”
- In case you missed it, Booker and Durant spoke about the value of continuity in the aftermath of getting swept in the playoffs.
SAS talks out of his u know what. He just likes to hear himself talk
Stephen change the channel A Smith.
Knicks would be worse with Booker. He takes time from Donte and Hart who hustle and do more little things that help win.
None of Hart or Donte are better than Booker. Booker flat out is a baller. You know dam well if the Suns traded for Donte and Hart for Booker you would nut in your pants bro.
That’s why they’re still playing and Booker is booking tee times. And while Boogers is the better shooter, no way would the Knicks break up the Villanova trio, not does he play any defense at the level they do along with the other intangibles. Phoenix can keep him.
Booker would be a huge upgrade. Watching the end of tonight’s game made it obvious Brunson needs someone else with some offensive firepower to help out. Yeah he dropped 40 but at the end of the game the 76ers were keying in on him because they knew the Knicks had no one else to go to. Still think the Knicks take this series, it took two clutch threes from Maxey to send it to OT but if they had Booker instead of McBride out there this series would’ve been over.
Randle is suppose to be that guy, if he played he might be the difference. They may try to trade him, but they would need the size back in return.
Randle, McBride and some picks may do it for Bridges. Make it a quartet as the defense just got even better.
Ridiculous.
Suns need to blow it up and get a massive haul for booker. They’re not winning with what they have.
Suns will run it back. Too much invested in it.
Suns need a real PG ….. disappointing season if you ask me.
Booker trade would take too much. I doubt it could happen. SAS is just making noise. Click bait
I wish this site didn’t bother mentioning “rumors” from the perpetual clown SAS. We all know he has zero credibility and is just trying to stir the pot. I know it’s probably hard to when others of stature may address his nonsense, but a line should be drawn somewhere.
Not sure we’ve ever passed along a rumor from him as if it’s fact — only reason it’s mentioned here is in the context of it being shot down.
Yeah, I get that. But part of his popularity stems from people wanting to shoot down his awful hot takes. He’s like the article that’s so outrageous or terrible you can’t help but click on it anyway, thereby generating more clicks and ad sales for the hosting site.
Didn’t mean for this to seem like an attack btw. Just wish no one would give that man an ounce of oxygen and starve him of attention. It’s the only way to combat his nonsense.
The only continuity the Suns will have is first round exits until Beal and or Durant are gone and they are back under the tax apron.
Booker is a great player in his prime. But there is no rational path for the NYK to acquire him. Even if the NYK stupidly decided to pursue an asset depleting trade for a star (despite the history of such deals), it’s very unlikely to be with PHX for Booker. It would most likely be with a team that’s in or about to commence a rebuild (tank). I could count on one hand (without using all the fingers) the number of trades over the past 20 years where a win-now team moved a prime age star under a long term contract. Not counting deals proposed on message boards, or in the minds of media members.
Agreed on Booker. Bridges is the deal they need to make.
Knicks fans are delusional. As much as I love this team of grind and grit players we tend to over value the talent. For Knicks fans to say Devin Booker isn’t better then any Knicks players not named Jalen Brunson get off the Crack. Devin Booker is a flat out scorer and is a lethal shooter. Even with Brunsons heroics he is going need a Robin to his Batman or vise versa. I would trade Randle, Mitch,Picks and Donte for Devin Booker ASAP in the off season if the Phoenix Suns blow it up. I would keep OG ,Mcbride who looked like a season veteran in his first sniff of the playoffs unlike Quickly who went from a Prince to s pumpkin with his enept playoff run last year. And Knicks fans and Knicks haters Jalen Big Bucket Brunson is a Bona-fide Superstar and Franchise Player who is now 1 of 7 NBA players to score at least 40 points in three consecutive playoff games in NBA playoffs history. I remember people saying we overpaid him when we signed him in NBA free agency. This dude last night scored with three Philly defenders hanging all over him like a cheap suit. This dudes footwork and herky Jerky moves would have Hakeem the Dream smiling from ear to ear. Brunson dances on the basketball court line he is at the Roxy,The Fun House,The Roof Top or like he is that infamous Hip Hop club the Tunnel the way he does defenders dirty. Brunson and Devin Booker would insane but I won’t dwell on that until after our magical run is over. Hats off for all the moves Leon Rose made. Signing Brunson, Devo,Hairston and trading for OG and keeping Mcbride who is turning into three point sniper and mid range assaian while locking down opposing players. And Thibs did a good job and certain players have evolved under him but he is still stubborn ad hell with him using a 7 man rotation which is shorter them Gary Coleman may he rest in peace. If he does this the next series I will be lived because if this team reaches the eastern conference finals they will be gassed from this Thibs Marathon that makes no sense and will come back to haunt him. But if we get to tbe eastern conference finals the season will be a bug success. This Randle injury has been a blessing in disguise meaning the role players and supporting cast improved in his absence.
