APRIL 17: Williamson is believed to have suffered a left hamstring injury, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link). The Pelicans star wasn’t walking with a limp when he exited the arena on Tuesday, notes Will Guillory of The Athletic (via Twitter).
APRIL 16: Zion Williamson left the Pelicans’ play-in game against the Lakers during the fourth quarter on Tuesday with what coach Willie Green described as “left leg soreness,” ESPN’s Andrew Lopez tweets. Williamson will undergo an MRI on Wednesday.
The Pelicans lost to the Lakers 110-106 and will need to win on Friday to grab the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference playoffs.
Williamson made a tying basket with 3:19 remaining with a drive into the lane. However, he felt pain in his leg immediately after scoring and had to be removed after that play. The former No. 1 overall pick went to the bench briefly, then slammed a towel onto the floor while retreating to the locker room.
Williamson had played arguably the best game of his career until that point, pouring in 40 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing five assists in 36 minutes.
Williamson, whose career has been marred by injuries, appeared in a career-high 70 games this season. He averaged 22.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists per night.
You don’t leave a playoff game suddenly for being sore. Next
What’s your diagnosis then, doc? I’ll wait.
Bad case of the softies.
Yes, he became soft with 3 minutes to go…lol
Makes him soft that he refuses to eat, and train like a professional athlete that relies on his athleticism to make him millions of dollars. The guy is notorious for eating the table and refuses to change anything he does for his conditioning. What are we suppose to feel bad that he can’t stay healthy? Guy literally does it to himself.
Im feeling pretty confident that whoever wins this Kings/Dubs game is gonna end up being the 8seed… Trae Young to NO sounds good to me
I know Trae averages a high assist…but he still does not make others better. He wouldn’t be a good PG for Nola. Why whould ATL want CJ who would have to be in the deal for contract reasons. Ingram and Zion wouldn’t be traded.
smh.
Trae doesn’t move the needle.
Hawks are a below .500 team and they have talent in Murray, Hunter, O, Johnson, Bogdan,
Empty stat guy.
Hopefully just cramping. It was a great performance, but not truly efficient. He missed 10 shots for a guy that does not take 3s and has all inside game he should have 5-6 misses. Zion balled though and got no help from Ingram, but teams maybe fine with Zion doing all that if the others are shut down. He only had 9 fts so he was not getting them in foul trouble.
He shot something like 18/27 which as you said was all inside the arc which is even more impressive going against one of the league best defenders in Anthony Davis. Surprised he didn’t miss more having such a tough match up.
CJ shot 1/9 from 3 which tells you all you need to know and Ingram was cheeks yet again…
Been very critical of him of the years but he’s shown his season he can stay on the court and produce good numbers. This game he was insane against LeBron and AD he was the best player on the court and got little to no help from his co stars CJ and Ingram.
I always said the pelicans needed to give up on Zion and cash in on their asset before he falls apart now I’m of the kind they need to build this team around him so he doesn’t have to do everything and run himself into the ground to get results. They run AD into the ground and force him out of town and they need to learn from that.
Trae Young might hit the market, CJ and 3 or 4 firsts for him?
Maybe if you don’t want to give up as much Zach LaVine?
Cleveland may also be shopping Donovan Mitchell if the rumours are true.
Maybe you’d rather give up some of your younger talent (Trey, Herb, Hawkins, Dyson) or picks to Portland and try take their more ready to win contributors like Brogdan, Grant and Rob Williams.
It’s not like there isn’t talent available it’s just about being brave enough to make the moves.
*Me Personally*
I’d be looking to try get Brogdan and Rob Will from Portland. Malcom’s can play either guard spot, is a decent defender, can play on ball and off ball and contributes to winning. Rob Will coming off an injury, your buying low and hoping for the best. Back in Boston he was a beast at protecting the rim.
After that I’d be going for a top tier guard like Trae or Donovan with Zach being the fallback option.
You have 2 late first this year, 2 first next year, 2 in 2027 and haven’t traded any of your own picks. Just go for it!
Somebody needs to bubble wrap zion bef each games
