The Pelicans should take the Laker’s 2025 unprotected pick.
Correct, it’d really mess up the Lakers flexibility to move draft picks in a trade
Plus their going to suck next year with or without LeBron. Might be a top 5/top 10 pick.
Its also likely to be higher in a better draft since AD and LBJ were really healthy this season
Sarr to Atlanta Capela traded. Far better situation than Detriot or Washington
With Knicks at 24 and 25. I’d be ecstatic if we got
Kyle Filipowski 7-0, 250 Center
and ———-
Tristan da Silva
6-9, 220 Power Forward
This affords the luxury of trading Mitch. Or Hartenstein. Depends how you want to go. I like both these players as rotation pieces. Get younger and deeper.
As a Nets fan, can I just say THANKS, JAMES HARDEN.
If you’re blaming anyone for that situation blowing up it should be kyrie.
was half a season of siakam worth 3 1st rd picks for indiana? i know the plan is to resign him to an extension in the offseason
this lottery is a joke
hawks won nearly 3 times as many games as detroit
how they gonna do pistons dirty like that
how is a tm struggling to compete supposed to rebuild when they lose nearly 70 games and end up with 5th pick?
silver has destroyed the nba
1) They had the number one overall pick 3 years ago.
2) It’s not like the 5th overall pick is completely worthless. That still gives you the opportunity to pick ahead of at least 25 teams.
3) Maybe Detroit would be in a better position if they didn’t draft players like Killian Hayes and Sekou Doumbouya with top 15 picks or give Marvin Bagley $39 million. The Pistons haven’t exactly been doing themselves any favors
The league is doing the Pistons dirty by not rewarding them for being a total disaster for several years in a row? Maybe the league is trying to send a message..like: win some games already. It’s not our fault you can’t draft or assemble a competitive roster.
so the message the nba decides to send instead is, if you finish at or close to 500 thats deserving of a top 3 pick, usually reserved for the worst teams so they can have some hope for the future. spurs drafted the biggest nba prospect in decades and they did not improve by a single win. what message was sent to san antonio as a result? neither of the 2 worst tms in the nba got the #1 pick and thats just wrong. and im not a pistons fan. i just dont like what the nba has become the last few years. players are soft, the refs are incompetent, the play-in is a joke, and this lottery is terrible.
Nah, the message they’re sending is ‘we need to prop up Atlanta cuz we thought T Youmg was gonna be a huge star, but the team can’t even make a playoff run so let’s see if we can get them over the hump’…or something.
The Hawks had a 3% chance of earning the number one overall pick; it’s not like this happens every year. Not to mention, the NBA didn’t “decide” anything. Unless you’re proposing the lottery is rigged, Atlanta received the first pick by chance.
To rebut your point, what message does the NBA send if the absolute worst team is guaranteed the rights to the best player in the draft? If that were the case, why bother trying at the end of the season if you’re not eligible for the postseason? Nobody “deserves” a draft pick for being bad.
Finally, the lottery predates Silver by decades. If you’re mad about the changing of odds, that’s a different story, but the NBA draft hasn’t been dictated by reverse standings in forever
Just gonna say, yeah sometimes it’s rigged(the Ewing was an obvious one).
But let’s be honest, Pistons had #1 in the “deepest draft of the last 2 decades”. They had #7,#1,#5,#5 and now #5. That’s a dream for most rebuilding teams.
The problem is pistons, fans and journalists all deluding themselves thinking this roster fits and will come good, they won’t. Smart option would be tear apart their “young core” and try to build something worth watching. I see no player that should be kept on that roster to progress. Not even Cade, use assets to build in trade as the draft plan does not work.
1. So the Hawks should be taking Sarr. Which puts Capela in play this year. Okongwu on the block soon after.
2. Wiz take Risacher. Which means Deni or Kispert could be moved.
3. Houston isn’t taking a Center. I would say they go Topic – they have FVV and can afford to take a high upside guy here. Could be a huge reach tho.
4. SAS has to be going PG here, and I think it will be Dillingham.
5. Pistons – well 5th may not be the worst spot. Matas would be my selection here. Or they could go Sheppard.
6. Hornets – If Sheppard and Matas are gone think Ron Holland or Clingan would make a lot of sense for them. They are probably going to lose Bridges to FA. They also seemed on the verge of moving one of their centers anyway.
7. Portland – So they probably trade Simons right? Ron Holland, Matas, or Dalton Knecht would make sense for them and are likely the best left on the board. Depending on who you ask, Cody Williams should be added to this best on the board list.
8. SAS again – I think the best player available outside of Center unless they haven’t taken a PG yet. Then it’s a PG.
9. Memphis – Clingan shouldn’t make it past Memphis. Neither should Reed Sheppard. If both are gone, they may look for a back-up PG.
10. Utah – I’m going to assume that Matas and Holland are gone. Williams or Knecht.
