The Bulls have fielded numerous inquiries and proposals regarding guard Alex Caruso, says Will Gottlieb of AllCHGO.com. According to Gottlieb, Chicago was offered multiple protected first-round picks ahead of this year’s trade deadline, with the Warriors among the teams who made a strong offer for Caruso. One of those proposed deals included a 2024 pick that ended up being a top-10 selection, per Gottlieb.
However, the Bulls have thus far resisted moving Caruso, with ownership pushing the front office to continue competing for the postseason rather than undergoing a major rebuild. Caruso is extension-eligible this summer.
We have more from the Central Division:
- The Pacers are holding a pre-draft workout on Tuesday with some potential second-round picks in the mix. They’ll host Nikola Djurisic (Serbia), Allen Flanigan (Mississippi), Isaac Jones (Washington State), Tristen Newton (Connecticut), Donta Scott (Maryland), and Santiago Vescovi (Tennessee). Shooting guard Djurisic is ranked No. 41 overall on ESPN’s Best Available list, with forward Jones (No. 57) and Newton (No. 68), point guard for national champion UConn, also among the top 75.
- Coming off their run to the Eastern Conference Finals, the Pacers now must focus on taking the next step, star guard Tyrese Haliburton told Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files. “It was a great year for us as a team, me individually, of course, but we know there’s another step for us to go, and obviously not satisfied with just Eastern Conference Finals. We want to do a lot more,” he said.
- The Bucks currently hold the No. 23 and 33 picks in the draft. What type of players should they target? The Athletic’s Eric Nehm and Sam Vecenie explore that topic, with Vecenie suggesting Indiana’s Kel’el Ware, Purdue’s Zach Edey and Dayton’s DaRon Holmes could get a long look with one of their selections as the club seeks a long-term option at the center spot. Vecenie also mentions numerous prospects at other positions.
Jerry Reinsdorf is scum. The Bulls need to totally rebuild. But of course this idiot is complacent with being a Play-in team year after year.
Bulls fans need to seriously consider boycotting them to send a message.
How is he scum. Is that because he drives a better car?Two hundred dollar A plate Meals. has the chauffeur.Wears $1000 suits. Why you sit around with your wife beater shirt on behind the keyboard
Reinsdoof burner account….
yes. this is why. very observant of you
Reinsdorf remains the worst two-sport owner in America and it’s not close. Utter imbecile. Leave the decision-making to people who actually know how to make decisions. Better yet, the ones you pay for that express purpose.
John Fischer is worse.
Holmes could be pretty interesting for the Bucks, but his skillset overlaps with Portis a lot. Still probably the best option available from a fit perspective, and I really think he could succeed in the NBA as a primary PF who can play small-ball 5 as needed.
Edey, don’t see it at all. He’s huge and strong but he can’t play off Giannis at all because his only offense is in the restricted area.
How do you turn down a top 10 pick for Alex Caruso in the final year of his contract ….
I know it’s a weak draft and AC is one of the league best defenders but your team sucks, you need a rebuild and someone is offering you the chance to take one of the best college kids this season, you have to take it.
You’ve got Coby White as your starting PG and besides Ayo who I see more of as a bench player you don’t have any long term pieces there.
It wasn’t known to be a top 10 pick at the time it was offered but I think turning down any offer of two firsts for Caruso is a fail by the Bulls FO.
Is that an actual fact that the Bulls really turned down two firsts for Caruso? Seems about 99% of the rumors that I read are just someone somewhere just making up ideas.
Caruso trade
What string offer from Warriors?
Podz/CP3/GP2 gotta be involved. GSW has lots of draft picks too.
Why would the Bulls want those three players? Doesn’t move the needle at all. Just a sideways move at best. Bulls can do better.
Podz would be a good get as an energetic scorer and floor spacer with enough defensive chops to play next to Coby White (also a strong rebounder for his size), but CP3 is just empty calories at this point and GPII isn’t anything (I guess a poor man’s Caruso to replace his role is the thinking?). Not enough by far.
For better or worse, the Bulls already have five guards under contract, White, LaVine, Dosunmu, Caruso and Carter. Podz isn’t going to make the Bulls markedly better if at all better. Bulls need help on the front line more.
Trace Jackson-Davis instead of Podz then. Also Wiggins is on the trading block.
The Warriors don’t even have a 1st round pick this year and they do not have any additional 1st round picks in future years. They also have traded away some of their future 2nds. That is NOT having lots of draft picks. Teams like OKC and the Knicks have multiple first round picks in future years – that is having lots of draft picks.
Everyone in Chicago FO is mental. Multiple FRPs or a Top-10 pick?
You can’t fire the owner. Caruso should ask for a hefty extension… if he’s worth every team trying to trade for him, he’s clearly more valuable than his current contract.
Reinsdoof being Reinsdoof…. The Bulls suck and are going nowhere. He’s just worried about getting ticket money for that one extra play in game. He doesn’t deserve to own a franchise.b
I’d say Warriors and Bulls are definitely potential trade partners, but doubt Warriors give up Podziemski
Warriors have 1st round picks for the next 5 years after this one (2024), and a Top 20 protected pick in 2030. They’ve got 2nd round picks in 4 out 6 years.
Moreover, Warriors have the tradeable $30M Chris Paul contract, along with the awful $25M Wiggins deal. Bulls want to get rid of Lavine’s $42M deal. These are elements of a multi-team transaction where bad contracts get dumped.
Podziemski is a nicer piece than you suggest. Should have been a top 6-8 pick. First team all-rookie, great shooter, great intangibles, makes winning plays. Think Jaime Jaques, Josh Hart, Donte Devincenzo. He’s the kind of (winning) player the Bulls have lacked (other than Caruso). As 20 year old rookie, he pushed Klay Thompson to bench and led team in +/-
