The Nets have agreed in principle to trade forward Mikal Bridges to the Knicks for Bojan Bogdanovic, four unprotected first-round picks, a protected first-round pick via the Bucks, an unprotected pick swap, and a second-rounder, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
It’s a stunning development for both New York clubs, who haven’t made a trade with one another since 1983, as Fred Katz of The Athletic tweets.
The Knicks’ draft capital heading to Brooklyn will be their 2025, 2027, 2029 and 2031 first-rounders. The pick that the Bucks owed the Knicks was their 2025 first-rounder (top-four protected). The unprotected pick swap will come in 2028, while the second-rounder will be in 2025 (Brooklyn’s own). The Knicks will receive a 2026 second-round pick along with Bridges, according to Wojnarowski (Twitter link).
It’s a huge haul for the Nets, who acquired Bridges from the Suns in the 2023 Kevin Durant blockbuster. Bridges appeared in all 82 games this past season, averaging 19.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest.
Bridges made a trade request to be dealt to the Knicks, Ian Begley of SNY TV tweets. The forward is entering the third season of a four-year, $90MM contract and wanted to rejoin former Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Hart. He was prepared to tell any other teams looking to trade for him that he’d eventually sign with the Knicks as a free agent, Begley adds (via Twitter).
The Grizzlies and Jazz were among the other suitors who were prepared to offer “significant draft packages” for Bridges, sources tell Wojnarowski. The Rockets also had interest in Bridges, according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, who disputes Begley’s claim that the 27-year-old requested a trade but confirms he was interested in joining the Knicks.
Bridges will take some of the scoring load off of Brunson and Julius Randle while providing New York head coach Tom Thibodeau with another versatile piece on defense. The former Sun and Net will be eligible to sign a two-year extension as of October 1, or a longer deal next offseason.
Bridges is due to make $23.3MM next season. Bodganovic, who has a $19MM expiring contract for next season, looks more like a salary-matching piece than a player Brooklyn is specifically targeting, so he may not be a Net for long.
While only $2MM of Bogdanovic’s salary for 2024/25 is currently guaranteed, that partial guarantee will have to be increased to at least $14.2MM to make this trade work. That means he could end up be dealt again, as his larger partial guarantee makes him less likely to be waived, cap expert Yossi Gozlan notes (Twitter link). Bogdanovic is projected to return in October from the foot and wrist surgeries he required this spring, sources tell Fischer.
The Knicks will apparently still look to re-sign OG Anunoby, who has decided to opt out of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent, Wojnarowski tweets. However, New York is preparing to lose Isaiah Hartenstein in free agency, according to Begley (Twitter link). Hartenstein is expected to be a top target for several teams in free agency, and the Knicks — who only hold his Early Bird rights — can offer a max of four years and approximately $72.5MM.
Assuming the trade is completed as reported, without additional players added, the Knicks will be hard-capped at the first tax apron (projected to come in around $178.7MM) for the 2024/25 league year, since they’ll be taking back more salary than they send out. That will put a limit on New York’s spending power to fill out the roster, though the team should still have enough wiggle room to make a strong offer to Anunoby.
The Nets, meanwhile, are in position to create a new traded player exception worth $21.7MM if they take Bogdanovic into their previously created $20MM+ exception, Gozlan observes (via Twitter). If they go that route, they’d be hard-capped at the first apron in ’24/25 as well, since they’d be using a trade exception created prior to this offseason.
The Nets have also worked out a separate deal with the Rockets involving draft picks, according to Wojnarowski.
In that agreed-to trade with Houston, Nets are trading a 2025 Suns pick swap, a 2027 Suns first-rounder, and a first-rounder and swap in 2029 in exchange for their own 2025 pick swap and 2026 first-rounder from the James Harden trade, The Athletic’s Shams Charania tweets.
The Rockets’ motivation is to use the draft capital to help acquire an impact player. While the Rockets are intrigued about pursuing a Kevin Durant deal, Phoenix is inclined to run it back with its core group. Thus, the Rockets are now determined to use the Suns picks to be aggressive on deals elsewhere, Wojnarowski tweets.

THEY DIDN’T EVEN HAVE TO GIVE UP ANY OF THEIR 3 PICKS THIS YEAR WTF
The draft sucks this year
Well yeah, but it was reported Brooklyn wanted to get into the first round this year. I assumed the Knicks would’ve wanted to give those picks up
Knicks are looking for cheap backups now. OG is out, IH is in, and Robinson is most likely staying now is my guess.
They’re going for it now so they have to keep OG. He’s Young and he’s their own free agent. This will be the team they have for the next 4 years.
Can they afford OG now?
Yes. This trade only adds 4 million in salary
No room for OG. Assuming they sign Hartenstein for $18M x 4 yrs, they have 7 players under contract for the next 2 years at $155M without OG.
That leaves $20-$25M for the remaining 8 Players.
OG will get at least $35M per year, likely $40M, from Philly..
Knicks have 3 wings: Devincenzo, Bridges, Hart.
They can go over the cap to sign OG.
How close are they to the second apron? And will they be willing to pay it? My guess is yes.
138.2M without OG on the books yet. That’s 40M under the first apron, which was triggered by taking back more salary in this trade. They need to trade one of their 1sts this year to create room. Can’t trade Mitch because you’ve lost I-Hart to the apron.
Rumor has it they are “confident” that they have a deal to move up in the draft. Maybe they package 24 & 25 to MIA or SAC ?
Amazing how they don’t know. What your FA means. Or how much money Knicks got. Dolan prints money
No he doesn’t. He’s nitbezos or bill gates
All three can play either position, SG or SF. Hart has done both during the same game while Donte was starting at SG, so Bridges for now is at the SF position.
@gary – oh, I agree and would prefer if they can. Would be an ideal lineup, but not sure if they have enough room, even if they love Robinson.
Move*
OG is gone.
Mitch is going. They rather IHart. Can’t afford both. OG must be signed.
Let’s think in this way
Annual Salary
Bradley Beal = $54 million
Bridges + Brunson = $48 million(totals)
Annual salary
Bridges $24 million
Brunson $24 million
What’s your point, or is there one…
They have just pivoted to full tank this season for a shot at Cooper Flag. They probably are still looking to sell other players like Cam, DFS, and any other vets.
The Nets don’t even have their own pick, tanking for a shot at the number one pick is going to be hard unless they can talk the Rockets into giving them back their own pick.
@Chuck that’s already happened. Nets get their own 2025 and 2026 back for the Suns and Mavs picks either outright or via swap.
I wasn’t aware of the Rockets trade. So the Nets are going after Flagg and the Rockets are going after Booker or KD? That’s very weird and convoluted on the Rocket’s part.
The Rockets think they’re ready to take the next step, but I don’t know if this year is the year. But it might be their last chance before they have to pay Sengun and the rest of their youngsters follow. It won’t be possible to keep everyone.
Knicks can do both – Bridges and OG
Highly likely
Knicks will sign and trade OG.
Knicks won’t give up OG for nothing.
OG is a FA so unless they work a sign and trade he’s walking for nothing.
This team gets really expensive after this season when Brunson and Randall both need to get paid, and your adding the money OG will get prolly 35-40 since he has other suiters. So this team will be rocketing over the second apron for 25-26, and because most are young almost all of these players will be looking to get paid quite a bit more whether its Bridges the next year or McBride a year later so this doesnt get cheaper anytime soon if you keep it together. If they dont salary dump and get Hartenstien back they may hit the second this season…
Not sure if they keep Randle after this trade. If they keep OG, then they can trade Randle and try to get some draft compensation back while splitting his contract in to 2 or 3 contracts to fill the backup PF/C roles on declining or expiring contracts.
If you keep the money your still in tax hell. My point is either you start letting pieces go after this season, or before really with IH, or your in the second apron from then on.
With Knicks 5 yr starting with Thibs and Rose. I’d say Knicks are doing great.
Please don’t run and hide Haters. Knicks board needs your GeNiUs insight …….
Oh oh Oh Oh Oh my God ………
No pho king quay
All these draft picks just killed the trade market lol
Done. Perfection!
Villanova Knicks finally complete
Nope, they need to do a poison pill offer for Gillespie and force Denver’s hand or talk them into a sign and trade.
The infinity gauntlet
I guess the Nets decided to go for a rebuild…
WOW!!!
Speaking as a Celtics fan, the Knicks are neck and neck with the Cs (in the east), if everyone can stay healthy and they bring back OG. I can’t believe they swindled the Nets like that.
WOW!!
Not sure sending out four unprotected 1st, another protected 1st, a pick swap and future 2nd is considered a steal for the Knicks. This is more than Milwaukee gave up for Dame.
It’s a steal because they didn’t have to trade any players and added a corner stone piece to their team. Who by the way is an IRONMAN who never misses a game.
Thibbs guy all the way
Bridges is younger and a budding superstar. The 2025 and 2027 1st rounders will be very late and the 2025 2nd rounder will basically be useless. The 2028 pick swap may even be null.
I think Bridges is closer to becoming a fringe all star than a superstar. His numbers were down last season on a bad Nets team. Also you have no way to know where future draft picks will land because players get injured, request trades, etc. I doubt anyone thought Memphis would’ve been a lottery team
this season when they just finished up as the #1 seed in the West.
I agree @bdpecore.. while Bridges is good he’s nowhere near the level of player Dame is. 19.6ppg being the #1 guy on your team doesn’t scream 4 unprotected first rounders and an unprotected first round pick swap.
So 4 picks that are all gonna be in the mid to late twenties is 2 much? Not at all. Those picks are worthless! Knicks still have their picks in 2026 2028 amd 2030 plus this year
lol things happen quickly, guarantee some lottery picks in that haul
They will only be mid round picks if the Knicks are actually good they had a decent season last yr a season that fro some reason the Bucks went backwards but will be a hell of a lot better next yr and team like 76ers and Heat who all dealt with major injury issues Bridges won’t make them that much better then they were last yr u also have teams like the pacers cav’s and magic that are going to be better after a full yr together the
Bridges actually plays defense. Dame doesn’t.
Bridges has fringe all star potential. Dame is a superstar.
Bridges is in his prime. Dame is getting old and can’t defend so…
The Knicks are setup much better than the Bucks were in the long run. 2025 and 2027 will probably be late firsts, even 2029 is more likely to be late since the core is on the younger side. 2031 is the one pick truly too far away to predict. And Bridges is on a much better contract that Dame.
@bdpecore: “This is more than Milwaukee gave up for Dame.”
Hard disagree. The Bucks sent out an unprotected 1st and two pick swaps and Jrue Holiday, who is one of the best defenders in the league and just helped the Cs win a championship. They also sent out Grayson Allen, who is a pretty valuable player as well.
Knicks have the 25th pick in this year’s draft. Next year, they should have as good of a team. If the core stays in place, the 2027 pick could be in that range as well. The 2029 and 2031 picks might be valuable, but that’s five and seven years away. Tons can and will happen between now and then.
This is true but you’re simply speculating. I doubt anyone would’ve predicted Memphis would have the #9 pick in this year’s draft based on them finishing 2nd in the West the previous two seasons and having a young core. But injuries are a part of the game and happen unexpectedly. If Brunson goes down the Knicks could very easily end up in the play in. One loss and they’re now a lottery team with increased odds (new CBA) to get a top 3 pick.
Sure, but that’s part of the job. Front offices have to speculate and weigh the likelihood of different scenarios playing out, then distill that down to a single decision to make. Still think it was the right call.
Thus was a good trade. Let’s be honest any trade today in the NBA for good players you have to give up usually Draft Capital and players. We only had to give up a bench role player who wasn’t in our long term plan . And honestly Leon Rose has been hoarding these draft picks for years and now he finally pulled the trigger sending picks that go all the way up to 2029 . We are in win now mode witj this Jalen Brunson led band of Villanova bullies we can’t draft and wait for players to develop. This squad got better and deeper and with OG Anuaby resigning today time to trade the often injured no offense having Mitchell Robinson so we can free up money to resign Hartentein. Hats off to Leon Rose for not being asleep at the wheel anymore. Mikal Bridges and OG Anuaby will have opposing players in jail with their defense at the wing positions.
Um no. You should have more faith in what Brad Stevens created.
Speaking as a Celtics fan, I’d wait until the Knicks played at a 64 win pace before I’d say that.
Four unprotected 1st round picks. Did they get Giannis?
This is the problem with the market value of Bridges, people are too high on 2-way role players(Knicks now have two with him and OG). Rumours were Houston offering 4 of nets own picks and Jalen Green for Bridges. Those picks should all be good picks without bridges on nets and Green a former #2 and highest overall scoring player from 21 draft and is still 22 so could still be a star. That is a high value trade(which I thought was a massive over pay).
That level of assets would be for a perineal all star, at worst player. Not a 3rd option shooter who can defend. The market is a mess RN. B/R reporting Lakers can get Mitchell or Trae for trash assets but Bridges goes for nearly double value according to them? The same guy plus Cam, Crowder and x4 picks for KD. I just don’t get it.
It’s not “the Lakers can *get* x guy for x assets”, it’s what they’re pursuing those guys for. Word of tweet, word of mouth, word of repost sites constantly twists stuff like that around.
That’s the issue here it is journalists “claiming” they can get A+ for C but other teams have to pay A+ just to get B-. The point I am making is the media influence the value. There have been too many players going for too little or too much due to media influence.
Like I said, “reporting they can get”. Not that they can. But the influence of the journalists and agents either increase or massively degrade value. The amount being traded for players is extremely erratic. If you want an example this trade is including 5x picks 1 protected and bojan. Remember Gobert going for the same plus additional filler? Had it not been for the #22 pick Kessler blowing up the trades would be similar. Is Bridges the same value as a multiple AS & DPOTY, even with that contract? Definitely not(yet the Gobert deal was a massive overpay?). But the media influence his value, they have been over valuing Bridges since he got to Brooklyn. No twisting just pointing out the fact of the market influence.
It’s exactly what messed up the Dame trade his agent and media “don’t trade for dame he won’t play unless it’s for Miami”. Meaning Hest offer trash with a grin on their face.
Granted Bucks took a swing and paid 3 picks Jrue and Nurk for him. Had the media and agents not kicked up a fuss and created this narrative the value would have been higher in the market for a HOF level player.
Seems like way too much to give up for a 2nd/3rd option type of player.
His contract is way under his value the next two seasons
Does this means Ben Simmons is available lol.
After they stretch his money and cut him
The Illawarra Hawks may be interested…..maybe?
His spot is secure, padded seat, sideline view.
Hahaha don’t forget the get up like a character out of zoolander. A stylist on how much? The world we live in….seriously.
Steep price but hopefully at least the first two of those 1sts will be in the 20s.
Isnt that a bit much for Bridges? He wasnt very efficient last year
You try playing next to Cam Thomas lol.
Lol looks like BKN going to trade for the 1st back from HOU too
Didn’t see that coming ! Love it !!
It’s no longer the New York Knicks, they’re now known as the New York Wildcats.
Burger King Rose has run amok ….. jeeze , what buildings adjacent to MSG were included in the deal ? This is the ultimate example of an NBA ‘executive’ seeking his/her highest level of INCOMPETENCE …. Rose just end up on the roof.
The only thing to consider here is what were the components of this ‘deal’ (CASH , SUV’s , Hookers….) were not disclosed to the league office?
I dislike the Knicks but this is a great trade for them and Brooklyn. Its a lot for a guy whose number don’t scream star, and Bridges is probably more very good than a star, but the fit should be seamless and there’s the obvious built in chemistry with most of the core roster. Realistically there’s either (A) not another “star” player available or (B) the ones that might be available are probably awkward fits around the current core besides the fact that they’d have to buy into the system. With Bridges they’re getting a close to star player that seems like he’s gonna buy in. Bridges will essentially be the Khris Middleton to Brunson’s Giannis…a guy who will defend the opposing team’s best wing player and probably get you 20-5-5 each night.
Assuming they go all-in to try and resign Hartenstein you’re already talking about a pretty deep roster with Hartenstein/Robinson, McBride, and Hart off the bench. They need to add another big or two to spell Randle and act as insurance for when Robinson gets hurt. If they bring back OG then that’s an even deeper roster as DiVencenzo probably gets kicked to the bench.
For the Nets, I think they might regret sending Bridges to their crosstown rival but it seems like their hands were tied if he was telling other teams he was going to sign with the Knicks anyway. Given that, they made the smart move asking for future picks as opposed to the picks the Knicks have right now as you’re banking on the Knicks having to blow up the core of this roster at some point…tougher with the young-ish roster that the Knicks have but if the Knicks don’t make at least a conference finals appearance in the next 2 seasons they’re probably going to have that discussion anyway (Brunson, Bridges, Randle will all be free agents if Randle doesn’t decline his PO after this season; DiVencenzo and Hart the following year).
This could be one of the biggest overpays in history. Boston getting unprotected picks for Pierce and KG is my most overpaid trade ever.
I mean 7 FRPs and SGA for PG13 is up there.
That one might be worse, but until the Thunder win a title it should be 2nd or 3rd to this one.
I thought he’d resign with the clippers, that trade is worse now title for the thunder or not. A superstar and 7 1st rounders for 4 years of playoff disappointment and the guy to leave is worse.
Overpays in history? Bruh lay off the pipe lol. These picks will be in the mid to late twenties every year. Who gives af
Isnt that the exact same logic the Nets said after the Celtics traded them Garnet/Pierce?
Just saying…Tatum and Brown are agreeing with your statement.
That Nets team was old and both Garnett and Pierce were on the brink of being sunset. Bridges is 27 and joining a team that doesn’t have anyone over 30 if I’m correct.
That’s a very unequal comparison.
The Knicks were already a top team and have now added a very good, young player who compliments the rest of the roster. The version of the Nets you’re referring to was not good when they added two over-the-hill vets. It makes sense while it’ll likely work for one and not the other.
Pierce was 36 years old and Garnett was 37. In no way is that comparable.
They’re 2 New York basketball teams trading everything in draft picks. I don’t think this is even an apples to oranges bad comparison. It should take 20 years to truly compare any of the trades brought up, but as time goes on some look even worse. This season highlighted how awful of a trade the Nets/Celtics was with Boston winning it’s 1st title of a possible many to come.
He is the man who will fit with knicks. I said it. I think knicks should trade randle and og for him and nix, but with this move they can keep randle.i hope they can keep hartenstein or maybe trade him to the bulls. Always love thib..cmon thib, you can go, at least, to ecf.
Knicks went all in. My guess they already have a deal with OG and will soon give Hark a max too. Its going to make them the team to beat in the East if all 100% healthy during the playoffs next year.
OG is gone
I love that people think OG is just going to sign to be the 6th man. He is going to Philly to start. Villanova has its team, they need to figure out if they can sign a center since Hart is going to the Thunder.
He’d still start. Donte would take the bench.
OG is gone
Even if OG stays, they still do not clear the Celtics.
They don’t clear them, but they could beat them in a random 7 game series for sure. Let’s not act like the Celtics are unstoppable.
It’s funny how the narrative went from “Mavs suck, Celtics championship isn’t legit” to “Celtics will never lose another game again, so no point in upgrading the roster” lol.
V’s up… now go get Gillespie to be the new Arch
I saw how it said that Bridges basically forced this, but I wonder how much say Brunson had in it too. There have been rumblings that he’d sign an extension this summer, which would save the Knicks a lot of money long-term… maybe figuring out this trade was one of his terms for signing that extension.
An interesting start to the Knicks offseason for sure.
Lmao at the peanut gallery thinking the Knicks wont sign OG as well
They will since the money was a pretty even trade.
OG is gone
Knicks will be serious when they bring OG back. Randle is still the #1 or 2 option depending on match up.
I think Hartenstein will be gone though.
Hartenstein is gone. IMO
Knicks have full bird right of OG.
Knicks can give OG huge max contract, unlimited.
OG is gone.
So is Sillivan.
OG is gone
If the Knicks are going for it and the price they paid for Bridges says they are, they will resign OG. No doubt about it.
OG is done
Og at worst is sign and trade. No ficking way he walks for nothing
I hear crickets. We got the Villanova 4 and OG is back so your comment didn’t age well champ. OG ain’t going nowhere he is still donning the orange and Blue. You need to change your name to Queen Buddha who is bad on predictions. GTFOH
Nets got 3 1sts in a loaded draft next yr. And right when Rutgers has a couple of blue chip prospects. Interesting to see if they can get another 1st for Cam Johnson &/or DFS at the deadline… I highly doubt Claxton returns unless he gives them a hometown discount. Bringing home a NYer like Drummond could help fan interest during this tank season… Jalen Wilson gotta be a early MIP candidate. He’s actually pretty similar to Mikal in a lot of ways… link to m.youtube.com
Next yr is a better draft. Smart move.
Knicks are setup to be good for a long time with this youngish core, so most of these firsts will likely end up being late. That’s unfortunately (and fortunately) what happens when you have a competent front office which turns an organization around, thereby devaluing its own picks in the process. In that context, it’s a fair price for a very good player with a perfect fit, and all the other possible moves they could’ve made with those assets would’ve likely featured a worst fit and/or required valuable players going back the other way for salary matching purposes.
Well done.
If I’m NYK I’m hiring Jay Wright as associate head coach & giving Thibodeaux 1 more yr
Only knicks fans could say maybe this is a good trade for the knicks…
What did mikhal bridges do to be priced like this? Lol
Agreed
The price of 5 first-round picks is an incredibly expensive cost
Clippers traded SGA, Jalen Williams and 5 First round picks for Paul George.
Note: Thunder use Clippers draft pick to select Jalen Williams in 2022 nba draft.
Cam Thomas team now. Kobe 2.0 (sarcasm). Ice that elbow young man.
Brunson Bridges OG Randle Robinson
With a bench of Hart, DiVicenzo(?), 2 1sts- backups to Robinson and Randle like Kyle Filipkowski C and DaRon Homes or Tyler Smith PF
Knicks roster shaping up nicely if everyone can stay healthy.
Definitely think they need a veteran PG still
You forget McBride?
I like it. Win now move.
Go get OG.
Pg Brunson
Sg Bridges
Sf OG
Pf Randle
C Robinson
They have Hart and DiVincenzo on the bench and should add backups to their front court
Kyle Flilipkowsi, Tyler Smith, as back up PF/C with their firsts
I’d add someone like Tyler Kolek as a backup pg with their 2nd rounder and shoot to add a veteran pg behind Brunson. Kris Dunn has revitalized his career in Utah somewhat. Think he’d be a great back up.
Still doesn’t clear the Celtics
Some of you goofies feeling the need to comment the same thing over and over is weird. Congrats to the Celtics. Doubt they repeat.
McBride?
OG is gone
Highway robbery; Congrats to the Knicks
I get the assets, but I honestly don’t get what Brooklyn has done to waste some amazing rosters the last few years, with abhorrent coaching/rotation decisions with no basis in reality
They’ve had a bunch of wing depth, and they now have all these assets, but Mikal Brodges is they type of player, used right, that you’re hoping any asset becomes..again, I’m not suggesting it’s terrible, but I just think they can do better overall
Again, super congrats to the knicks…assuming they keep Anunoby, they’re now a real contender (assuming they add a floor spacing big off the bench)
Bridges is weak
NYK paid a superstar price for a great complementary player. But with the dearth of available talent, and the new CBA rules, it can be justified IF they re-sign OG to pair with Bridges on the wings. Otherwise, no. With or without OG, they’re at the first apron, so there aren’t going to be many opportunities to upgrade from here. At least at the top of the roster. With OG, they may have enough going forward for awhile. Without him?
This is one of those “player-driven” trades that everyone online hates lol *popcorn.gif*
To be fair, if the Knicks weren’t inept, they would have drafted him when he fell to them back then…though they weren’t the only team to drop the ball on that
Great deal for the NETS, good deal for the KNICKS.
The NETS are not going anywhere with Bridges, might as well get as much picks for him, which the NETS did ……. now let’s see who they can fleece for Ben Simmons.
Good (not great) deal for the KNICKS ……. I’d honestly prefer a healthy Bojan during playoffs, for the KNICKS – but completing a Nova quartet was just a no-brainer for the KNICKS.
Besides, this is what those picks are for – you use them when the right opportunity arrives.
If the KNICKS somehow retain both OG and IH, then they’re clearly right up there with the CELTICS.
As always I feel like this is just the start of a few more dominos falling into place.
Knicks
Brunson Donte Hart OG Bridges Randle Robinson Hartenstein McBride and this years two first round picks.
Not everyone can stay, Obviously Hartenstein is the likeliest to go but in all honesty you think how good he was for the Knicks down the stretch, is he really the guy you want leaving?
Call me crazy but I think I’d rather see Randle leave, bring in a guy like Kyle Kuzma, retain Hartenstein and let OG go…..
As for the Nets, where are you going?
Great rebuilding package but you still don’t even have a first round pick for this year. Do you trade Bogdan again in another move? Do you still retain Claxton? How much of a role does Cam Thomas play now? Do you look to replace Mikal with some other star?
This is a very interesting trade, I definitely like the idea for both sides but I don’t think either side is finish yet either. Love NBA offseason
I love this trade for the Knicks (I’m a Lakers fan). It definitely seems like a steep price to pay, but the only player they sent out was to match salaries and he didn’t play much anyway. I like Bogdanovic, but he clearly wasn’t in the teams plans. Bridges plays every game and is great on defense. He’s also best suited as not the top option, which he won’t be with the Knicks. If they can re-sign OG and I Hart they’ll be very versatile, especially with a healthy Randle.
Giving up those 2029 and 2031 unprotected first round picks would make me very uneasy. Those picks are so far out. Who knows what the Knicks will look like by them.
Giving up that many picks is a HUGE a risk. I wonder if Booker comes if NY offers PHX the same package. IMO. I wanted either Booker or Bridges. I’m happy and if Knicks somehow get a championship. I don’t care about a pick in 2031.
They need to trade Randle ASAP for whatever gives them more flexibility to sign OG and IH. Knicks flourished since he was out, he clearly disrupts their offense, this is Jalen’s team and the Nova boys. If they can get something for Robinson trade him too but that’ll be tough. If OG plays hard to get just let him go, they are covered with Bridges and they can use that money for somthng good
Ryan Archie. You are next.
You don’t know much….. Thibs loves Randle. He’s their hardest worker. You really should inform yourself.
Wow .. four unprotected .. an unprotected swap .. and another pick .. then they gain control of their own pick in a much stronger 2025 draft .. could be a huge price if the Knicks don’t win .. all for mikal bridges .. the player the sixers traded for the illustrious zhaire smith
Damn sesame seeds
Knicks not afraid to make moves unlike these cowardice GM’s. Now trade Randle.
I think that is too much for bridges. But I am glad Villanova guys will be together. The Knicks were 20-3 with OG in the Lineup. You would think they would lock him up first. They gave up some great talent to get him.
Sure, four unprotected picks seems like a lot to pay for Bridges, but I still like the deal for the Knicks.
They did not have to give up anyone off the roster effectively as we all Knew Bojan was going to be used as trade fodder this year. This deal doesn’t affect the Knicks ability to re-sign OG or offer the 4/$72.5M to IH. The 2025 and 2027 picks likely will be in the 20’s, and Rose/crew don’t really care about 2029 and 2031. Either this deal works and the Knicks become a true contender, or Rose/crew won’t be around in 2029 to worry about those picks.
The Knicks still have picks this year to fill out the back end of the rotation, or can use them as additional trade bait.
Finally, and most importantly, Bridges (and hopefully keeping OG) is exactly what the Knicks need to compete with the buzz saw that is the C’s. You need big defensive wings to guard Tatum, Brown and White. A combo of Bridges, OG, Donte, and Hart gives the Knicks the ammo to do so.
Four that are high in draft (20s). Gotta pay if you want to go big. Whole point of accumulating picks was for this.
The copium from some people in these comments, lol.
This is a high price for Bridges, but like OG, it’s a fit trade. Bridges is exactly the kind of guy the Knicks needed. Great defense, good spacing, can handle the ball and score for himself in addition to being the 3rd option, hasn’t missed a game he was eligible for since high school. No way they don’t re-sign OG, given that they only have 4 million extra in salary in this deal. Might not resign I-Hart, but OG is staying. Bridges plays the 2, OG the 3, DDV becomes the 6th man, which lets the Knicks fill the bench gap that Duce and Josh Hart basically had to bridge themselves. The team’s balance is restored and they’re way deeper now. 1-4, this is one of the best teams in the NBA.
Could see the Knicks trading Robinson to, say, the Grizzlies or Thunder to recoup a pick or two, then re-sign Hartenstein and maybe add Andre Drummond as the strong backup.
Actually gotten better when it comes to Knicks. Half the haters just hate NY. Don’t have a clue of Knicks history.
Great Day ………. Now I really want to see draft. Mitch could be next.
Never been a hater, just not a fan. Always thought the Knicks were good since 2021, though I was (rightly) iffy on FA that year. Still turned out well since they’ve turned those guys into players that help them. Happy for you fans that you have real, sustainable success in place now.
I did express some doubt they could add a big talent without RJ Barrett to dangle after the OG trade, but I also thought there wasn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that the Nets would trade Bridges to the Knicks. Turns out, he told Marks and Tsai “It’s the Knicks or nothing”, so they decided to capitalize. Worked out really well for the Knicks and the Nets get to jumpstart their rebuild.
Didn’t mean you.
Great trade for both teams. Nets got guts trading with Knicks.
Don’t think the nets had a better option. Apparently he asked for a trade…to the Knicks and said he’d tell teams he won’t sign with them and intends to go to the Knicks. The nets could’ve traded with other teams, but not sure they’d give up what the Knicks did knowing his potential intent.
Yeah makes sense. Still Nets and Knicks don’t really do this. Cause if the guy turns out to be a monster. He’s in your city every yr lol. Reminding everyone
For all of you who don’t understand. Bridges is best 2way player right now. He is that good. And will show it on this team ……
It’s amazing so called basketball fans. Don’t see this team building. All Thibs kind of guys. All Jimmy type players …..
I’m so glad we signed Thibs. This is what I expected. Year 5 of Knicks rebuild ……
DONE DEAL …….. In “Thibs we Trust”
I’d say Knicks are CONTENDERS now ……
Nets in full rebuild. They will be fine. Took guts to trade with Knicks.
I want to thank Danny Ainge. For being the Aole he is towards Knicks. Upped his price for Mitchell. Then took less from Cavs.
Thanks Biter ……
This is a really big trade. The Knocks may have given up draft capital but they just made 3 people they intend to build around very happy. What’s the value in that? Kind of legendary stuff to have 4 people play together from college. the main success stories for their Villanova team are all together. If I’m a Knicks fan this is awesome
This is understandable for the Knicks. They so rarely field a legit contender that they’d be desperate enough to go all in when they finally get one. I expect they keep Anunoby as Dolan has the deep pockets take any tax hits. Anunoby and Bridges now gives them two ideal defensive matchups for Tatum and Brown.
Now the Knicks just need Mario H and Fredric Weiss(Vince Carter jumped over me in the Olympics) to come back and finally come over. Isn’t Weis the Knicks draft rights? Jk. Have Frasier on the bench telling Brunson some info. Then Willis Reed comes out limping and inspires NY.
Resign Sims and Toppin. Draft well. Amy ideas ? They need a backup C. Sign a veteran C too. They need to draft older players with their three picks
This could be the strongest Knicks team since Ewing…
I have my reservations about Thibs, but with this much talent to share the ball… It might just work…
