Because they only hold his Early Bird rights, the Knicks are limited to a four-year offer worth approximately $72.5MM for Isaiah Hartenstein, and Michael Scotto of HoopsHype hears from league sources that New York is expected to put that full offer on the table for the free agent center.
Ian Begley of SNY.tv previously reported that the Knicks are considering other options at center, including Goga Bitadze, in the event that they’re unable to retain Hartenstein. Scotto confirms as much, writing that free agent big man Jonas Valanciunas and potential trade target Nick Richards of the Hornets are among the other fives on New York’s radar. There’s also an “outside chance,” sources tell Scotto, that the Knicks would consider pursuing Andre Drummond if they can’t bring back Hartenstein.
Here are several more highlights from Scotto’s aggregate mock draft at HoopsHype, which features many other items of interest that we passed along earlier in the day:
- Jonathan Kuminga, who will be eligible for a rookie scale extension this offseason, is expected to remain with the Warriors for the foreseeable future unless the team has an opportunity to acquire an All-NBA caliber player, writes Scotto.
- While there have been rumors that Dayton forward DaRon Holmes II received a draft promise from the Nuggets, Scotto hears that there’s no truth to that chatter, adding that multiple executives believe Holmes will be drafted before Denver picks at No. 28.
- Baylor center Yves Missi is among the prospects who have worked out for the Lakers and is someone to keep an eye on at No. 17, Scotto writes.
- Scotto’s aggregate mock draft has KJ Simpson coming off the board at No. 49, but he says the Colorado guard is a potential target to watch for the Timberwolves earlier in the draft. Minnesota currently holds the 27th and 37th overall picks.
- Kyshawn George has some fans within the Cavaliers‘ organization, according to Scotto, who suggests that the Miami guard could be “an upside pick for the future” at No. 20.
- Brendan Sabean, who most recently served as the assistant general manager of the Austin Spurs, is expected to be hired as the GM of Phoenix’s new G League affiliate, the Valley Suns, league sources tell Scotto.
After wasting the pick for James Wiseman, Warriors have to keep every valuable piece. Never give up players for nothing.
Sign and trade for ALL.
Example: 39 years old Paul.
yeah but you’re not paying their tax bill. mistakes happen, but they’ll eventually work towards significantly decreasing salaries
How was it a wasted pick? Nobody could forsee what was going to happen. It made perfect sense at the time. Wiseman is young enough to develop.
Stay away from Goga !
I expect Gogas baseline to be the 5.2 TPMLE and he will prolly have multiple zip codes to choice from
The Warriors have too many payroll issues to trade Kuminga for an all-star, especially when Kuminga might already be an all-star who is about to break out next season.
Huh? That’s bizarre. An all-star is going to be more expensive. Who else would you give up to get this mythical all-star? It makes more sense to keep Kuminga.
That’s what he’s saying.
@padam yep
This is the reason I am done with Mike Dunleavy:
Mike Dunleavy says “internal development” has to be the Warriors’ priority to improve first and foremost “It’s so hard to make a trade in today’s NBA … if it happens great.” Dunleavy made it clear they can’t put all their eggs in that basket.
IMO
Warriors “talents for internal development” are just not good enough to compete for playoffs.
My expectation for next season is 6th seed. After I get what Dunleavy says, my mind falls into 10th seed.
This guy is just not a good GM.
Sullivan you need to stick to what you know WNBA. Mike did not sign a bad contract to Poole and he didn’t draft Wiseman. They had a strong trade offer for Curruso but Bulls wanted Kuminga and picks. You can’t trade for players if you don’t have assets to trade. Playing hardball with Thompson is a good thing. None of the trade proposals you make any sense. That is why he is a GM and you are not.
What are you babbling about? Podz and TJD turned out to be great picks. Getting rid of Poole helped the Warriors. He is right. They have to play better defense than last season.
@Giants74
JJ Redick has championship expectation for the Lakers.
How do you compare Mike Dunleavy to JJ Redick?
What?
@Sillivan I don’t compare the two guys. Dunleavy is the Warriors General Manager. Reddick is the Lakers Head Coach. They all want to win a championship. Each team has a different path.
Best lower those expectations….JJ is getting paid, thanks LeBron James, thanks Rich Paul. Not to worry, we’ll hear this good company man in the near future trying his hardest to remove his tongue from Brons balloon knot for just long enough to get his take on MJ vs LBJ. Total non event that comparison. Man lakers stink….it’s already been utterly enjoyable the last few seasons. May that continue for many years ahead….long live the king lol.
You’re the Terrence Howard of Basketball posts.
You know what I remember !!!!!
All the so called fans. Who didn’t want Kuminga. So called fans who just can’t understand what it means to be 21 and play in NBA. Who just can’t comprehend the time and commitment. It takes to develop real talent. Look at Kuminga and learn what growing up means in the NBA.
Kuminga might very well be an All-NBA caliber player… specially if GSW finally starts playing for him as the main man, as it should have been for a while now!
OG may go to OKC…
