The Grizzlies have signed second-round pick Cam Spencer to a two-way contract, the team’s PR department tweets.
Memphis acquired Spencer’s draft rights in a four-team swap that featured the Pistons, Timberwolves and Raptors.
Spencer played a major role in UConn’s second consecutive national championship after transferring from Rutgers.
The No. 53 pick in the draft, Spencer started all 40 games for UConn last season and averaged 14.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.5 steals in 32.8 minutes. The 24-year-old, who was selected First Team All-Big East, shot 48.4% from the field, 44.0% from 3-point range and 91.1% from the free throw line.
Spencer fills the Grizzlies’ final open two-way slot. Scotty Pippen Jr. and Trey Jemison occupy the other two-way spots.
National Champ, great shooter, passer, higher pick than Bronny but willing to sign 2 way contract. Good for him!

Speaking of Final Four heroes, the boy Zach Edey is lookin really good early on his 1st summer league game. It’s only about halfway thru the 1st qtr but he’s outplaying Walker Kessler so far & looking like a guy that can be a real difference maker as a rookie (which is obv rare).
So did he make the right decision to skip the Olympics?

LOVE Edey standing up for his guy (Jake LaRavia) & nearly starting a brawl. This guy isn’t very athletic & can’t shoot but other than that he’s exactly what I want in a big. Elite rebounder & rim protector, has good hands, he’s physically strong & tough as nails mentally as well. He’s serious, he’s productive, chip on his shoulder, etc. I could def see this kid being a big time NBA player & that’s not something I was saying this time last yr

Zach is back & he continues to impress. Nobody been more impressive in this 3rd qtr than Isaiah Collier tho. I’m really hype to see who ends up winning this pg battle for Utah bw Collier & Keyonte George

It’s gonna be hard for any summer league game to top this Memphis/Utah game in terms of quality, intensity, drama, etc… Zach Edey just sent us to OT & these last couple mins been sorta crazy overall
