The Warriors are planning to hire Terry Stotts as Steve Kerr‘s lead assistant coach, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweets. Jerry Stackhouse is also expected to join the staff.
Stotts, 66, has a long career as an NBA head coach and assistant. Stotts was the Trail Blazers’ head coach from 2012-21 and was also head coach of Atlanta and Milwaukee. Stotts was hired as Adrian Griffin‘s lead assistant with the Bucks last offseason but abruptly left the organization before the regular season started when they clashed over scheme and philosophy.
Stotts will take the spot previously held by Kenny Atkinson, the Cavaliers’ new head coach. Stotts was also on Cleveland’s radar during its head coaching search.
Stackhouse, 49, interviewed for the Hornets coaching job that eventually went to Charles Lee. Stackhouse was hired as Vanderbilt’s head coach in 2019. The school parted ways with him after last season. The former All-Star guard was previously an assistant with the Raptors and Grizzlies and was also the head coach of the G League 905 Raptors.
How long does Stotts last?

Why would he leave? He doesn’t have to deal with Adrian Griffin.
Since the warriors can’t spend on payroll they hire the best asst coaches.

Hey it’s Highway Menace he just likes to agitate and prod and disagree. It’s not really about basketball it’s about saying you’re wrong.
I don’t know how much Klay has left. And appreciate all that he brought to the team. But, between the two, I would much rather Dray. The Warriors are a much better team with Dray on the floor. They play much better defense and the ball flows more. The numbers show it.
because they think the reason they lost to the celtics is they couldn’t make threes. not sure Klay helps them much in that regard. this year in the most important game of the season he went 0-10 and then didn’t talk to the media post game. btw the reason they lost is the celtics took 2x as many 3FGs as dallas, that’s on luka and kyrie.
last year he was getting cooked by Lonnie Walker IV and failing to score in double digits games 4-6. He’s a volume shooter than can’t guard the wing anymore. Is that worth $17M a season and sacrificing the wing defense that got the Mavs to the finals?
Luka, Kyrie and Klay on the court at the same does not scare opposing offenses, it may even excite them.
