Former NBA forward Guerschon Yabusele, one of the top players on France’s Olympic team, wants to return to the league. Yabusele posted on his social media account that he’s looking for another opportunity to prove himself at the NBA level.
“Been waiting for a 2nd chance. I’m ready,” he wrote on his Twitter account.
Yabusele, 28, has one season remaining on his Real Madrid contract with an NBA buyout of $2.5MM, Marc Stein tweets. The buyout was $1MM prior to July 15.
Yabusele poured in 20 points with two rebounds and two steals in France’s 98-87 loss to Team USA in the Paris Olympic championship game on Sunday. He averaged 14 points per game and earned second-team honors while helping France capture the silver medal.
The 16th overall pick in the 2016 draft, Yabusele spent a year as a draft-and-stash prospect in China, then played for the Celtics from two seasons from 2017-19. He appeared in 74 games, including five starts. He averaged 2.3 points and 1.4 rebounds in 7.1 minutes per contest.
Yabusele has played with Real Madrid for the past three seasons. He averaged a career-best 14.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game last season while shooting 56.5% from the field, 46.1% from 3-point range and 86.8% from the free throw line.
Plenty of undersized PF in NBA. He looked good against USA. He probably will get a call. That’s how you do it. You show up
I remember him being 6″9 with a 7″3 wingspan…maybe I’m remembering incorrectly
He was always undersized. Always been listed at 6’8 or 6’7. He was drafted because everyone was trying to find the next Draymond Green. I don’t know about his wingspan though. The Celtics should give him another chance. It gives them a real PF other than Tillman
I liked Yabusele with the Celtics, felt bad when he was gone, but now happy a few years later, that he might come back to the NBA. I remember his bow & arrow thing after making a three. No announcer could pronounce his name and his hair is different.
Bruno Caboclo is 6’9 with a 7’7 wingspan
Correct… well 7’2 wingspan. Definitely not undersized for the 4.
Position: Power Forward ▪ Shoots: Right
6-8, 260lb (203cm, 117kg)
Born: December 17, 1995 (Age: 28-238d)
Who’s Caboclo ???? long gone. He’s under 6’7” without shoes. Has girth. You can look all this up.

I’m remembering his listing when he was drafted. It might have been before the new rules on that. So whatever; basically the right height/wingspan…that’s not undersized at the 4/5. He wasn’t in shape, and sometimes made poor decisions on both ends, but I thought he would be really good. Now it looks like he has actual man strength, instead of babyfat; it’d crazy he’s 28 though b/c in my head he’s like 25. Guess it has been that long
Now that he changed his body. He probably should get an opportunity with a bunch of teams that could use help at the 4/5
He had a lot of bounce and the dunk on Lebron was pretty cool.
46% from 3PT is wild. NBA needs more fire.
86 percent from the line is pretty good too
Cavssssss
Seems like a no brainer for Spurs
He’s a fit for GSW’s 15th spot, if they want to let Spencer go for Post for the last 2W position.
He’s not coming back to the NBA to be a 15th spot when he’s starting for Real Madrid
I mean signing the 15th contract doesnt make you 15th man. I would say he would be Draymonds main backup including nights he misses. The problem is without waiving Santos or Waters because theyre non guaranteed they dont have enough money for even a minimum deal below the hard cap. They may make him an offer if they do a trade where they ship out GPIIs salary or something.
Another Danny Ainge draft pick
Danny had a thing for power forwards built from a similar mold in Jared Sullinger,Yabusele, Semi Ojeleye and Grant Williams.
Cleveland would make a lot of sense. They needed a forward last year that could guard Banchero/Franz Wagner in their playoff series against Orlando. Not to mention their new head coach Kenny Atkinson was an assistant coach for France at the Olympics. Evan Fournier could be an option for them too.. (Especially if Okoro doesn’t return)
They should have used Marcus Morris and Okoro more
He’s a perfect compliment to Wemby – 15 minutes per game of physical play.
Not a single team is forking over 2.5M to buy out his contract
Utah should
They would . . . if they wanted to win. What they really want to do is tank, and not trading Lauri is already a big step in the wrong direction.
If the Celtics could they should
Cavs, spurs, raps.
Celtics…
Cleveland does make sense since their head coach was an assistant coach on the French National team. Yabusele would have to pay 1.65 million of his own buyout to return to the NBA, due to NBA teams only being able to offer no more than .85 million to buyout players from current deals. He had a decent season in ’23 at Real Madrid, but nothing spectacular. So finding a deal on the coattails of a solid run with the national team would be ideal for Yabusele.
Altman, don’t screw this up. Get yabusele and morris.
Boston and Philadelphia are the only places he fits in age wise, playing time and fit. Not all these other ones. Plus all the random Cleveland fans, GS, Spurs, Utah etc etc etc lololol etc etc
