Free agent forward Davis Bertans has been invited to work out for the Warriors, Marc Stein tweets. Bertans is looking to receive a training camp invite.
Bertans became a free agent when the Hornets waived him in early July. He had a $16MM salary for 2024/25, but only $5.25MM of that total was guaranteed before Charlotte cut him loose.
Bertans, 31, was dealt to the Hornets from the Thunder midway through the 2023/24 season in the Gordon Hayward trade. He saw his role expand on a lottery-bound Charlotte squad, averaging 8.8 points on a .394/.375/.889 shooting line in 28 appearances.
Once one of the more sought-after stretch fours in the league, Bertans signed a five-year, $80MM contract in 2020.
He spent one full and one partial season with Washington after it re-signed him, then was dealt to Dallas. He came off the bench for one-and-a-half seasons with the Mavericks, then was moved to the Thunder in an offseason trade. He saw limited action in 15 games with OKC before he was dealt to the Hornets.
Bertans is a career 39.6% three-point shooter. He’s averaged 7.7 points in 18.0 minutes in 475 career games.
The Warriors have 15 players on their standard roster but three of them have non-guaranteed deals, as our roster counts show.
GET A CENTER!!!!! You have zero on the roster. 6’8 Looney doesn’t count and if you think he should then you are Looney
Luke 207, Since you obviously have never looked at the roster or a box score, hope this helps:
Warriors starting center is 6’9” Trace Jackson-Davis, 7’1” wingspan, 245lbs,
BTW, 6’8” Looney and 6’6” Draymond Green were the only centers on the 2021-22. Looney has a 7’5” wingspan, Green’s is 7’3”.
Got it?
Trace Jackson-Davis was a PF in college. 6’9 is a PF’s height. Who cares about wingspan when your opponent is a 7 footer with more wingspan than a PF. Plus Jackson-Davis is not a full time starter his whole rookie season. Did you look at any box scores?
I don’t care about players lying about there wingspan lol. Stop making crap up.
I look at your picture and think you should know what basketball truly is but you are not wise at all.
I hope this helps
Got it you casual?
A sharp shooting big man wouldn’t be bad. I don’t think he will find a way on the team.
Just turned into a multiple times all star next three years after this signing, ask the GSW fans, lol.
that would be Laker fans you are on the wrong page.
in the history of basketball, has there ever been a substitution that swings your defence from elite to garbage at a single position as much as Bertans > Green?
It breaks even though as Draymond effects the offence in a similar fashion when he’s subbed back on…
Scarlett, Bertan’s shooting should be a pretty positive thing when he’s on the floor. I don’t think it would be negative and opposite of Green’s positive offensive impact.
WhoMeThatGuy, well yes what will come close when Podski Subs out and Buddy Hield Subs in. The defense will go south within the first few seconds of that switch
Bumping Gui Santos off the team for Bertans isn’t the worst move. Gotta have 4 good defenders around Davis for him to be useful though.
All I ask is that you rethink that thought-turned-comment, Davey J. Sit down in a comfortable chair and – with no distractions of note – maybe spend a good 3-5 minutes rethinking that thought-turned-comment.
By far rather have Gui Santos who has a 3 pt shot and can play defense.
@arc89
Davis Bertans…does -not- have a 3 pt shot??? Umm….
No saying Santos can do what he can and is younger with a up swing value.
Please God No! How many bad choices do the Warriors have to make! Buddy Hield questionable…this is just laughable…
Draymond Green will pull the best defense possible out of those with poor reputations on that side of the ball.
I remember Nick Young was an effective playoff performer and his defense wasn’t quite what it should have been during his career. But he found floor time and was a huge part of that playoff run.
I think Green makes that happen out there and in practice.
Just a big nothing burger. Bertrans will end up signing in Europe. Saw him play unless he is the 15th man off the bench he doesn’t make the warriors.
Exactly my take Gary, Jordan Poole stunk defensively too and we won a title with him. It’s who you play with him. Bertans would function well with 4 good defenders out there with him who can space the floor and get him open 3’s.
Jordan Poole could at least drive the lane and attack when needed… Bertans just a one dimensional shooter who can’t defend and is streaky.. unfortunately there are way more bad streaks than good…kind of guy who might win you the odd game, and lose you many.
