The Bucks‘ conversations on the trade market leading up to the February 6 deadline have centered around Khris Middleton, Bobby Portis, Pat Connaughton, and MarJon Beauchamp, along with their 2031 first-round pick, league sources tell Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Middleton, Portis, and Connaughton hold player options for the 2025/26 season worth $34MM, $13.4MM, and $9.4MM, respectively. The expectation, Scotto writes, is that Middleton and Connaughton will pick up their options, locking in those cap hits for next season. Portis’ intentions aren’t known, per Scotto, but if he opts out, he’d presumably do so in search of a raise.
With Middleton having battled injuries, Portis potentially a free agent this summer, Connaughton having a down year, and Beauchamp not in the rotation, the value of the Bucks’ top trade candidates is limited, but that 2031 first-rounder would certainly be coveted on the trade market.
According to Scotto, in the two weeks since the Suns traded their 2031 first-round pick for three less valuable first-rounders, a handful of NBA executives have expressed interest in trying to work out a similar deal with the Bucks.
Here are a few more rumors of interest from Scotto:
- Scotto checks in on Bulls trade candidates Nikola Vucevic and Lonzo Ball, writing that there’s a “growing sense” that Vucevic could be on the move this week, with the Warriors and Lakers among his rumored suitors.
- As for Ball, the Grizzlies, Pistons, and Timberwolves are among the teams with interest, Scotto writes. Minnesota, a second-apron team, likely doesn’t have a realistic path to acquiring Ball in a trade, and Scotto does note that some clubs are monitoring the situation to see whether the Bulls guard could end up on the buyout market. Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported earlier today that Chicago is resistant to the idea of buying out Ball.
- In general, Scotto says, the Bulls want to avoid taking on long-term salary in trades as they look to create more cap flexibility in the coming years.
- Besides Milwaukee, whose interest was reported earlier today, the Lakers and the Nuggets are among the teams with some trade interest in Hornets wing Cody Martin, league sources tell Scotto.
- Meanwhile, the Lakers, Clippers, and Bucks are among the teams to register some level of interest in Knicks center Jericho Sims, while Hawks forward De’Andre Hunter has drawn interest from the Cavaliers, Scotto reports.
Bucks- Bogdan Bogdanovic, Dean Wade, Kobe Bufkin, Jose Alvarado, Mo Gueye
Cavs- DeAndre Hunter, Larry Nance
Hawks- Brandon Ingram, Caris Levert, Isaac Okoro
Pelicans- Khris Middleton, Cody Zeller, David Roddy

Pelts will need some picks back
NOP would laugh. Ingram isn’t a bad contract. At worst he’s an expiring deal with a heavy asking price, and they lose him for nothing (unlikely, more likely is a S&T where they get a protected FRP). Why would the NOP even think about taking on the toxic Middleton contract? He’s also too old to have a future with the NOP even if he got healthy after so many years in street clothes. Giving up their popular backup PG for what exactly?
Lonzo to grizz works.
I don’t trust the wolves as long as Randle is there.
In summary, the Bulls are finding that other teams don’t value their players as much as they do and so they won’t get anything of significance for any of them just like with LaVine.
Foolish to trade for Ball. Hes on restricted mins still. You can just wait till he gets bought out. Bulls are not resigning him. They’re not that incompetent.
He won’t be 100% till next year. I sure wouldn’t want anything to do with him.
Hunter is a nice get for Cavs. I still see Williams as best deal. Cheapest too.
Sims probably gets moved. Hes a decent backup big. Still young enough to help a team. Hukporti is the backup now. I dont see value coming back for Sims. Unless another player added like Kolek. Or get a 2nd rd pick to use. Knicks need bench scoring. Have to address that.
whoever trades for ball won’t do it to get a starter but a reserve for 20 mins to help a contender
why would the bulls buy him out instead of getting 1-2 second rund picks?
Best Warriors can do now. Is trade for Vucevic. He’s a good fit there. Wants to win and compete. Next yr you can go for a bigger trade. With Kuminga back.
Wiggins, Dra, Vucevic. Looney, TJD, Anderson their front court is set for a playoff run. Rebounding and making stops. Is the kind of D you need in playoffs. Vucevic lets the others pkay their natural positions. Plus I would go get Mamba too.
How many high scoring bigs the Warriors had in their championship years? How many shooting bigs they had? The best bigs for the Warriors were rim running guys that could protect the rim, Vucevic is nothing like that.
Better catchup lol. History is for daydreamers.
Its today and forward. Only thing guaranteed in life is Change.
Oddly prophetic Al. I completely agree.
They probably won’t go after Vucevic. But, a Portis-for-Shroder trade seems likely. Kerr has worked with Portis before and likes him. Shroder hasn’t worked out. It would get them under the cap. If the rumors are true, Lonzo Ball would be a nice pickup from the buyout market. He could fill the integral role Sean Livingston had back in the day.
Still, would like to see them miss the playoffs. They need an upgrade in young talent.
Al, Kuminga is back in 2 weeks.
Who’s Mamba?
Mo bamba probably ari
* I like your Portis target 74 .. wondering what his cost would be myself
Scalabrine making a comeback
Rebounding and defense haven’t been the Warriors problem this season. They have struggled to shoot the 3.
Bucks should move Middleton and Connaughton to get better and I think if they have a good playoff run then Portis either opts in or opts out but resigns.
Moving Portis I don’t think helps cause he’s such a big contributor off the bench and I don’t think they get back anyone who will help them anymore than he already does.
Middleton and Connaughton on the other hand don’t provide as much impact and Middleton in particular could hold some value to some (stupid) GMs.
I like that idea with Kuzma especially if they tied in Connaughton and brought back Brogdan.
Brogdan and Portis off the bench would be huge and Kuzma I think would turn his season around and be a very valueable third option and wing defender
