12:48 pm: Shams Charania of ESPN confirmed during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show (Twitter video link) that the Warriors have inquired about James and Durant, noting that Golden State is casting a wide net in its search for another impact player.
“The Warriors are legitimately calling about every All-Star player,” Charania said. “Name the All-Star player, the Warriors have probably called about him. (Sixers forward) Paul George, they’ve probably called – they have called – about him.
“They’ve made calls on every star. And that, of course, includes players like LeBron, players like Kevin Durant, players like Jimmy Butler. They are making calls. They are dead set on trying to find another star player – a superstar player – with Stephen Curry.”
The Warriors are among several teams who have asked about Durant, per John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 (Twitter link), but Gambadoro says the Suns remain focused on either acquiring Butler from Miami or – if they can’t get Butler – making other smaller deals.
12:00 pm: The Warriors are “big-game hunting” ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline and have contemplated a strategy to reunite the core of the U.S. Olympic squad by teaming up LeBron James and Kevin Durant with Stephen Curry, sources tell Jake Fischer of The Stein Line (subscription required).
That’s the most audacious of the plans being considered by Golden State’s front office, but there could be a path to making it happen. Sources tell Fischer that the Warriors are among the teams that have made inquiries about whether James could be convinced to waive his no-trade clause and part with the Lakers. Nothing has changed so far, but Golden State will presumably continue its pursuit through Thursday.
Fischer cites sources who say the Suns currently don’t plan to move Durant before the deadline, but they are listening to inquiries. Durant is aware of the situation, Fischer adds.
Any deal with Phoenix would involve “a very high asking price” involving players and draft picks, according to Fischer, who notes that the Suns have “a level of interest” in Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga.
Fischer points out that Phoenix’s grip on a postseason spot is less secure after the Spurs reached an agreement to acquire De’Aaron Fox from Sacramento. That trade should make San Antonio (21-25) more dangerous in the short term without the Kings (24-24), who are acquiring Zach LaVine as part of the three-team deal, taking a significant step backwards. Both teams are hot on the heels of the 25-23 Suns in the postseason race.
The Suns would like to complete a deal for Heat forward Jimmy Butler, but have found no takers for Bradley Beal and may not be able to make it happen without giving up Durant or Devin Booker.
Fischer also reports that the Warriors haven’t entirely abandoned the idea of trading for Butler, despite a report on Sunday that he wouldn’t sign an extension with them. According to Fischer, there are “reservations” in Golden State’s front office about how Butler’s personality would fit with the team considering his standoff in Miami and his history of messy breakups.
Fischer adds that the Mavericks aren’t trying to add either Butler or Durant, although they’re still searching for roster upgrades after swapping Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis.
The current speculation, according to Fischer, is that the Warriors or Bucks are just as likely to land Butler as the Suns are. However, he adds that Milwaukee has been quiet recently in the Butler pursuit and may be more focused on acquiring Kyle Kuzma from the Wizards.

“KD to GSW for anyone not named Steph or Dray or Moody…Warriors will run it back and Steph will have more titles than LeBron and finish up with 8 titles like I proclaimed a year ago”. #StrengthInNumbers
Im not even sure they can match both contracts. Its like 90M+ so you include Wiggins/Dray and still need a ton of money. Also dont think theres any chance they have enough assets to entice both teams. On top of that teams like HOU/OKC/SAS with more assets would get involved in KD at least.
Sounds more like warriors are just doing lip service to make it look like they are trying.
I mean I think they are trying. I still would expect a smaller move for a player making less than 25M where they can add without removing a ton from the rotation.
Im happy they didnt get Lavine and I really hope they dont trade for Butler. Its like even if you dont resign Butler to what would instantly be one of the worst contracts in the league you still have to take back a ton of salary to facilitate a S&T for him. At this point I would say Wiggins as a 3/D wing at 25M is a more valuable contract than Butlers. I would tell the heat that you will take Butler for Wiggins and expiring if they give me a couple top 8 protected picks. You gotta pay to get off a 48M toxic player.
I think after the way so many teams have shaken things up that someone will face plant and some interesting players could come available this summer. I dont really want the Ws doing their big deal for a player over 29 outside KD.
True
Warriors fans need to prepare for suffering.
They probably would get the Nets involved, etc. I see it being a 4-5 team trade honestly. Even including CLE. There’s a lot of teams that sort of want to have an eye on their lux tax situations and future resignings.
That said, I’d give this entire possibility a 1% chance LOL
Its roughly 100M to match KD/LBJ. In order to match that its Wiggins/Dray/DS/Loon/Hield/Anderson/Kuminga/GPII. Its an 8 for 2 even more if they want Podz since you cant swap him for any of the others since he doesnt make enough. Your then taking a 7 man roster of Steph/KD/LBJ/Moody/Gui/Waters/TJD. I mean maybe in the summer when you can fill out your rotation, but I dont see them building a title team around that in the buyout market…
I think this version of LeBron would not take as much as you would think..A first and a young player if LeBron asks out is reasonable. He’s very obviously almost done playing, and this is Luka’s team now.
Davey has been talking about Lebron to the Warriors for a while. Watch, it actually happens and he looks like a genius.
Things that will not happen for $1000 Alex.
Going to be completely unsufferable.
I just want to go straight forward.
It’s all smoke. Warriors will do nothing this week. Warriors fans will be suffered.
Acquiring Vucevic = do nothing
There’s literally no possible was Davey could look like a genius.
LeBron is tight with Steph and even closer with Draymond. He can opt out and get their on his own after the season. I think we all know what one of the main sticking points is ………. Bronny
Bronny would be in any trade due to roster spot issues. The Lakers will have to cut or trade min level guys to make roster counts work. It is better to trade them so you don’t have to have their dead cap on your books.
One reason LeBron will not leave the Lakers this year is Luka. LeBron only goal is a ring and right now Lakers give him a big chance to win one.
If it doesnt work I could see him leaving in the summer. I only think he would leave if the team misses the playoffs. Like if Luka and him dont look good together in a dozen games and then Luka gets hurt and things all fall apart.
It would be likely he would only consider LAC/PHX/GSW since he can stay in LA mostly and just get a place to stay if theyre playing a bunch quickly. Like Dray mostly lives in LA.
Another year or two and I think he would just hang it up maybe, but he may not want to just call it this summer even if he thinks the lake show dont have it.
Don’t think lakers have a great shot tbh, I don’t think Luka raises their ceiling a ton compared to AD. Weird fit w Bron and no bigs. Long term is a dif story
Midseason trades are hard for this reason. In the offseason you can build your roster. Thats the crazy thing with DAL they had actually built a really well fitting roster around Luka with the right players as threats and to make up for his deficiencies. Like the LAL defense is going to be sooooo bad now having traded the two best defensive players on the team. Like AD was the backbone of the defense and now theyre playing Hayes/CWood…
I actually think Luka Lebron is a really bad pairing since both just take possessions off and dont get back. They both also notoriously argue with refs while the team plays 4 on 5.
Lakers have too many holes to win with Luka and LeBron. Kyrie is the rare guy who can play alongside of guys like Luka and LeBron and still eat. Don’t see it working the same way with Luka and LeBron. On paper, Lakers may now be worst team in league defensively not named Chicago. Luka, 40 year-old LeBron with Jaxson Hayes in the middle. Lakers will be rebuilt around Luka. You can put a bunch of role players around Luka. You will still win before his next SuperMax running mate magically arrives.
I mean I think you stagger them so that you never have min without one on the court. The opening and closing lineups are going to have some kinda stupid bad defense.
If I’m lebron I stick it out with luka and the boys. I like the lakers aside from needing a big. Lebron is more of a 4 at this point in his career. Reaves fits better at the 2. Lebron and Luka pick n roll should be nice. Rui, finney smith, Vanderbilt are all quality defenders. Luka has a history of working with other ball dominant players in brunson and kyrie and same for lebron. They have a couple assets to address center and get a guard who can play defense. No reason not to try and get those by deadline and see what happens. I feel the argument for laker having too many holes is the same for warriors except they have a worse record and a older roster.
Rui is your main salary matching to get a center. DFS is a decent defender but not point of attack. Vando is so offensively challenged he doesnt really work with the Luka goes in and scores or kicks to a 3pt shooter so he really hurts your spacing especially if they are playing with a non shooting C.
I mean you have like 2 decently positive defenders. Every player you named is a negative except Vando whos sample size is far to small. You took the 20th defense in the NBA traded its best two defenders, and got back a player in Luka who has serious deficiencies, and is returning from injury, and will probably be extra slow and heavy.
I understand and appreciate your perspective. I think kleber and Vincent salaries would be a good thing to offer with the picks since they don’t help in the current rotation. The Lakers don’t have their first in the upcoming draft so they definitely have incentive to try and win this year.
Not at all. I think LAL would be happy to get off the rest of the *laughs* guaranteed money over the next 3 years on Bronny. Bronny is just an auto include filler in any trade with LBJ.
They dont want to waste money and a roster spot on Bronny if his dad isnt part of the team.
No doubt Lakers will be glad to move on from Bronny. His role must be worked out with Golden State. Bronny was getting privileges for a while like no G League road games. Minutes in nationally televised games. Got to work out the Bronny particulars with the Warriors. Steph put the banners up for GSW, not LeBron.
I think Kerr has enough clout that he could just be like kid your going to Santa Cruz when your ready and you earn it you can play in SF.
Huh? Why would the Warriors have a problem with sending Bronny to Santa Cruz? Bronny plays on GLEAGUE games all the time. I don’t understand where guys get the idea he doesn’t. Kinda bizarre.
Actually, Dunleavy said they would have drafted Bronny if he was available.
Dude. You have some severe emotional problems when it comes to Bronny James. He has traveled and played in away games with their GLEAGUE team. I’m not a
Why are you writing about Bronny?
Who cares?
Because there seems to be a clear understanding that if LBJ moves to a new team that team gets the privilege of employing Bronny James.
Where did you get the idea that there is a “clear understanding” that the two have to be moved together? “No Trade” clauses basically don’t exist in the NBA. So, LA can do whatever they want with LeBron or Bronny.
What does Bronny have to do with it? LeBron doesn’t want to leave LA. Steph doesn’t want to leave his new home for LA.
I am telling you it will be Zion who they end up getting costing the warriors Kuminga among other things.
They can have Embiid!!!! Free to good home!
Or Paul George, not sure if that is possible
And I would throw in Nick Nurse for free
All 300M hes owed until *gasp* 2028 could be yours for the low low price of anything.
Lakers should get embiid since they talked about him last year
If Luka can get traded anyone can!
I’d take Embid on the Clippers.
This is to everyone…apparently the Sixers can’t trade Embiid until next year
A team built around Curry, Durant and James would get smoked in the playoffs. This ain’t 2018.
It would just become the Brooklyn nets again where they all get hurt and never play many games together
However if they are somehow all still healthy… making the GOAT 3 would be so fun to watch
I don’t think LeBron wants to go to golden state he would’ve gone there already if he wanted to last year
@occams_hairbrush its not 2018 but those 3 can still cook the Thunder and Celtics in 2025. Not 100% like last time with KD, and depends on what the bench looks like, but that’s a childish comment. Those are 3 top 10 players all-time. Grow up lil bro.
Found the copium take guys
Just have a feeling that Devin Booker might get traded soon. I just don’t know where but I have a feeling he’s getting tired of the mediocrity in Phoenix and constant trade rumors involving his teammates.
I have a feeling he will end up in Houston
Houston has the PHX picks and young players. Good call
Booker fits the timeline of HOU core too so they have to like the long term fit over the next like 7 years.
Houston has their “vet” with Fred VanVleet. Houston don’t need to add an aging star. Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson and Jalen Green were all major draft hits. Jabari Smith has been injured most of the season, but averaged 13.7 points and 8.1 boards. They ain’t even a full strength right now. They just need to find a defensive answer for Wembanyama with Spurs and Chet Holmgren and OKC. Spurs and OKC is who they have to build a roster against.
Barry, are you calling Booker ‘an aging star”? He turned 28 last October, unless you are talking about Jimmy Butler? Booker still has 2-3 years of quality high level play. Houston can easily afford Phoenix’s price for Booker, and remember they aren’t that keen on Green for the future. Can utilize his 3/105M starting next year plus assets for any Booker deal.
@raz427 Kevin Durant is who I was referring to.
Got it. I agree then. I was confused lol. Good point. They don’t need a Durant on their team.
I agree Barry, Fred would be a great salary matcher for a booker or KD trade
Suns could trade him to Detroit for tim hardaway jr, Isiah Stewart , ivy and a bunch of pick swaps I think the Suns need a reset and the up and coming pistons are ready now..
This would be amazing! Can the best 3 of a generation take a title in the twilight of their careers. Would be must see TV!
Every game where all 3 were active (along with Draymond) would be the highest rated tv event of the year, the top 10 will be 10 of those games lol
Dray-KD-Bron-Moody-Steph
Post-Santos-?-?-?
Booker to OKC would be awesome. They have the picks.
Don’t need him, doesn’t fit culture. Takes a whole lot more than picks to get it done. No giving up Jalen, Dort, Wallace, Wiggins or Joe to make salary work for a guy that lacks defensive passion.
“doesnt fit the culture” what culture would that be? zero rings = zero culture
By that logic the only teams with culture would be Warriors, Boston, and Nuggets. Not counting LA as Bron only one left from bubble and that is a side eye title. OKC plays together everyone knows role. Not killing a 5-8 year window for Booker who killed his window by getting Monty fired and team traded. He scores but does not do anything else that wins. No thanks.
Kevin Durant return to okc would be cool
The team that didnt want to trade away their young players because of their future now all of a sudden wants to trade them away for a 40 year old LeBron?
I’d watch for nostalgia purposes. I don’t think that team would go to the Finals or anything but purely entertainment value, it would be pretty cool.
Curry, LeBron, KD, and Butler to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Check Twitter
Please make this happen… I just love the chaos lol.
No no NOOOOO!!! Damn you, Davey J!!! MDJ has been reading your posts!! KD mayyybe, but PLEASE no on Brawny Sensation, MDJ!! PLLLEEEEEEEEZZZZZZ-uh!!!
Sign LBJ to the MLE this summer when he burns out on LA after already getting KD…………
OR maybe I was the only (relatively) sane one on here all along and my takes are commonly-held ones? It’s just honestly funny to watch how genuinely insane all these haters I have are on here for my stating…commonly-held, repeated-by-thousands-online-on-instagram-and-twitter takes?? Yall have lost your damn minds for real. I will continue to post my genuine thoughts that you all hate but like 90% of NBA fans agree with on here, for funsies and to help broaden my own analysis via the posters on here who actually do that and not just purely mudsling from the reply guy section
No one takes IG and X/Twitter seriously which is why no one takes you seriously Davey J.
Do we even know if Durant wants to be in GSW? He already left GSW by choice before. With all the rumors around that and Durant’s tendency to be a bitter diva I’d be surprised to see him go back.
In the hypothetical deal where he comes with LBJ Draymond has to be included for salary so he wouldnt have to deal with him.
Yeah draymond would have to be traded which could either supercharge or implode the warriors
I never thought his techs helped the team but if Steph says he’s the glue then he must be
You think KD doesn’t change his mind every 5 minutes about this? lol He might just want to win and has done before with Steph and Dray. He cannot do that with Booker and Beal. If the Suns had a clue they would reload by trading Booker. They won’t do that, and Beal isn’t leaving, so eventually KD will want to win another chip, and then…
They simply don’t have the assets to make a trade for a star.
If the Spurs can get Fox and the Lakers can get Luka. The Warriors have enough assets to get an all star!
Fox is a fringe All Star, he isn’t an All NBA level guy. Lavine and him are in similar tiers.
AD is a top dpoy candidate All the time. Luka is really good but he is basically prime Harden which doesn’t result in titles.
Gsw does not have a 1 for 1. Wiggins is not at LBJ or KD level. He isn’t ascending with their decline. He may be like Butler. Kuminga has not shown star level # 1 or 2 option.
I love this, but also am okay with nothing happening aside from getting Vučević for very little, I love this attitude 6 months from now and it’s about Giannis.
Moody cannot be traded until end of season, then his $3.9M turns into $39M, which means he can be traded 1-1 for Fox or Sabonis, but also he can be paired with an extended Kuminga for a legit superstar.
I also think GSW could go after Sabonis right right now, keeping Moody and Kuminga. Kings FO seems…vulnerable…
Moody for Sabonis or even Fox? I need whatever you are smoking
Don’t listen to him. He lives in bizarro land. Moody’s making $37M total the next three years at Not $39M AAV. Once again Davey living in Bizarroland and we’re here in reality.
Also Fox will reup with Spurs, there’s a reason he turned down that extension in the offseason.
Bizzaroland Davey strikes again!
Yet hell say everybody else does not know ball lmao.
Considering the new time frame the lakers have just opened up I’d take Wiggins and Kuminga with expirings to fill in the blanks for Lbj and Jr today
No picks required
I’m sure both fanbases might debate they should get more but that provably makes it a fair trade
does anyone realize that it would be either LBJ or KD, not both of them? they wouldn’t be able to field a minimum roster after matching salaries for both those guys.
LBJ also makes much more sense this summer since he can opt out of Lakers deal and do a sign & trade.
