February 25: Armstrong’s one-year, two-way deal with the Warriors is official, per NBA.com’s transaction log. He’ll be eligible to play in up to 14 NBA games for the rest of the season.
February 23: The Warriors have reached an agreement to sign Australian guard Taran Armstrong to a two-way contract, agent Daniel Moldovan tells Shams Charania of ESPN (Twitter link).
Armstrong, 23, has players for the Cairns Taipans in Australia’s National Basketball League for the past two seasons. He enjoyed a breakout year in 2024/25, averaging 17.1 points, 4.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 0.9 steals in 29.8 minutes per game across 19 outings, with a shooting line of .461/.351/.691.
The 6’6″ point guard also spent two years from 2021-23 playing college ball at California Baptist, earning WAC Freshman of the Year honors in 2022 and claiming a spot on the All-WAC second team in 2023.
After going undrafted last June, Armstrong saw his ’24/25 NBL season come to an end earlier this month when the 8-21 Taipans missed the playoffs, paving the way for him to return stateside prior to the two-way signing deadline of March 4 and to finish the season with Golden State.
The Warriors have an open two-way slot alongside Pat Spencer and Jackson Rowe after having promoted Quinten Post to their 15-man roster earlier this month, so no corresponding roster move will be necessary to make room for Armstrong.
At least he is 6’6″ lol
If his passing translates to the NBA, the Warriors will use him heavily alongside Steph.
Good signing gives the warriors time to see if he is worth to be on the team next year.
Looking at his profile
Good size for a PG possibly a SG/PG.
Played for a low level school, good rebounding and assist rates but not good FT shooting percentage and not being able to make a three a game. Still just 23. Good size. Good pickup. Hopefully a tough Aussie.
Now they only need a young C (22-23) on a two way instead of Rowe. Post is turning 25
I’ve seen bim play in the NBL numerous times. He’s tough.
Do you think he’s a good pickup?
Is his passing his best asset? Is he another Ben Simmons, but for free?
At 6’6 the warriors obviously plan on using him at centre
Jimmy Butler has already played center on the Warriors
Kerr has now also deemed Moses Moody a “power forward”
Nothing matters anymore lol
NBA at it’s weakest era ever
Bob Petit would destroy these players today
@Luke 207 – you dont know ball “weakest era” LMAO
Comparing hack plumbers with lifetime athletes is nasty work.
Davey that’s a good comparison. A shorter poor man’s Ben Simmons who can shoot a little better than Simmons. Looks like that is what he will be it he doesn’t pick up the shooting. Not having dominating numbers at a low level school doesn’t impress either. Looks like a 6’5 passing guard, 23yrs Aussie and had a interesting path to NBA.
If Yuri Collins is 6’2 then I’d rather have him. (If Yuri is 5’11 then nope)
They need a young C (21-23) and a young PG (21-23) who can shoot and develop behind Curry and eventually take his place
His game is nothing like Ben Simmons.
What about their draft and stash guy. How is Jessup doing?
There is no reason for any real NBA team not to have a real center. You have 12 players on the roster. Every team should have two centers minimum. A rim protector and one that can play the perimeter.
Tell that to Kerr. Look at the Cavs with Kenny: he left GSW and instantly went with 2-3 bigs with 2 scoring guards. GSW has the interesting Post, who can shoot an score but also from deep as well as at the rim. A lineup of Post-Kuminga-Dray-Jimmy-Steph might be one of the best single rotations in the league.
lol
Just not an intelligent approach for an NBA franchise. Not just Kerr. GM and owner have a say too. Rose was one who made trade for Towns. Thibs signed off. But Randle was his guy. Knicks didn’t want to pay Randle. Just an example that its not all on coach. I’m the GM I get two Centers don’t care what Kerr thinks. You can carry 15.
Of course there is a real reason why the Warriors don’t have two “real centers”. It is called a salary cap. There is no one worthwhile that is available. Hell, the Clippers replaced Mo Bamba with Ben Simmons. They haven’t had the draft picks to find a player to develop. Why waste assets on someone worthless like Kelly Olynyk. Got any real suggestions? Davey is pretty clueless as to how long the Cavaliers sucked.
Olynyk shoots 40 percent from 3 and is one of the best passing bigs in the NBA.
Not saying the Warriors should have given up assets for him, since they’re going nowhere.
So, they should trade for a player for a role that is already being fulfilled on their current roster.
Did you read the part where I said “Not saying the Warriors should have given up assets for him, since they’re going nowhere.”?
Its been yrs …. the NBA is all about size. Warriors are only team without a real Center. It’s redundant
Maybe the Warriors don’t have a “real center” because nobody can understand what your definition is?
there’s 15 players on the roster….not 12.
Only 12 suit up …. No one cares about the other three. Considering most play 8-10. It called a roster for a reason. There to use and develop. All you Warrior fans. Have no clue of the physical pain your team takes. By not having real bigs on roster lol. Green and Looney don’t even jump anymore. You tajes yrs off their careers lol. Why would any knowledgeable person accept this. Wiggins is glad to be gone from this
Up to 13 can suit up.
Imo Warriors got lucky for last chip. Wiggins has never been the same since.
In every other Finals team. Warriors have had 2-3 Centers. Not always played heavy mins. But had them to throw at other teams. Since most have good centers in playoffs. Kerr thinks he can outscore teams . By using numbers. Tire teams out. This works some if you got plenty shooting. He doesn’t. Teams today load up on perimeter D. Its why wings are so in today. Upu know what works in sports and in life change. Teams adapt and catch up. No reason in the world to not gave a legit center. Even if he is your 10th man.
Wow. You really think Wiggins difficulties the past two seasons had to do with the Warriors not having a “real center”? That is extremely ignorant.
Oh now Armstrong is leading the we believe Warriors 2.0 2025 edition to a chip, lol. Because we’ve seen heaps of guys added in late February as rookies completely dominate the nba….SMH.
Huh?
Dude. What kind of drugs are you on? Do you not understand that there will most likely be a 2025/26 season? Teams usually think years in advance. This signing is for next season. Are you really that brain dead.
Oh I see you are new here…
There’s loads of Warriors homers who comment here…
Every Warriors signing is the second coming of Jesus no matter what they were doing before landing on the Warriors…
Well… According to them… Never mind the red flags in the history… Just believe…
No. I have been on here longer than you. Outside of Davey J, who has other issues, who has ever said a Warriors transaction is the second coming. Where do you come up with this stuff?
Oh I see you think everything revolves around you…
You weren’t the OP… Get ya head out of the sand little one…
@Scarlett666 SO STOP COMING INTO WARRIORS POSTS COMMENTS SECTIONS, IF YOU DO NOT LIKE WARRIORS FANS BEING WARRIORS FANS. IM USING CAPS LOCK BECAUSE YOU NEED TO HAVE IT SCREAMED IN YOUR IDIOTIC FACE.
Holy MOLY people like you DESERVE to lose to Steph like 5 more times. The Warriors DESERVE to win titles, if not only to make losers like you mad.
But seriously, take your meds, same with that no-nothing, low-rent poster Nrg82. Neither of you know ball, at all. Giants74 – you need to get in line and act like a Warriors fan, we are both the same to the rest of them, no matter what you think of me, so stop acting like -they- do to me, when we support the same freaking team!
The warriors decision not to carry two centers is likely a strategic choice based on roster spots and maximizing value. When you are an over the tax team or close to it then every roster spot needs to provide potential value. The most valuable position is a versatile wing player.
We traded Dominique Wilkins for Danny Manning ugghhhh
Who is the Atlanta Hawks best player ever?
Who is the Toronto Raptors best player ever?
