Anthony Davis won’t make his Mavericks debut on Tuesday. He’s been ruled out due to the abdominal strain he suffered with the Lakers before their blockbuster trade with Dallas, Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal tweets. Davis was originally listed as questionable against Philadelphia.
Dallas wraps up its road trip at Boston on Thursday, then hosts Houston on Saturday.
We have more Western Conference news:
- Jazz guard Collin Sexton sprained his left ankle as he drove to the basket in the first quarter against the Pacers on Monday, according to the Associated Press. Sexton, Utah’s second leading scorer at 18.7 points per game, didn’t return. He will undergo further evaluation Tuesday. Sexton is considered a prime trade candidate. He has one year left and $19.175MM remaining on his contract after this season.
- Zach LaVine is expected to suit up for the Kings on Wednesday, James Ham of The Kings Beat tweets. Sacramento’s acquisition of LaVine became official on Monday. LaVine hasn’t played since last Monday due to the birth of his child.
- Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane has a foot sprain but it’s not considered serious, Damichael Cole of the Memphis Commercial Appeal tweets. Bane underwent an MRI on Monday morning. Coach Taylor Jenkins said it was good news, based on the possibilities, so it appears Bane won’t be out an extended period. Bane is averaging 17.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists.
- The Trail Blazers are open to trading Jerami Grant, Anfernee Simons and Deandre Ayton, according to Sean Highkin of Rose Garden Report. Highkin believes if Grant or Simons are moved, the Trail Blazers would prefer a player they can add to their long-term core, rather than prioritizing draft picks. Robert Williams is another potential trade piece but the bar is higher than most people would think for the big man, as a package of second-round picks probably wouldn’t be enough for Portland’s front office.
If they could convince Beal… he could be the face of Portland for the next few years. Score 30 again. Get another AS.
Blazers could get 3 picks from the Suns and picks from the Heat, maybe a FRP and SRP. Give up Grant + to match.
If the Blazers are open to trading younger productive players, they’re not going to have any interest in Beal. Beal makes sense in a package to Golden State centered on Kuminga and Wiggins.
Why would Golden State do that? Beal is a toxic asset with that contract, and they may be able to get something of value for Kuminga.
Kuminga is due for a big raise. Beal is still a star player.
This guy is an idiot. No team wants Beal. He has the worst contract in the league. A low-efficiency, small, bad defender who needs the ball a lot but doesn’t win games. Stop turning Portland into a scrap yard. Don’t comment on the Blazers when you don’t know anything.
Why don’t you get some help. You can’t control what people post. You can only control how much you embarrass yourself.
“A deal got whittled down, and I think Rob Pelinka was able to convince the Mavs that Luka is a lot of risk… His drinking, his weight problem…” Goldsberry said.
Lots of stuff coming out now ……. Here we go.

Never liked Mavs , only Dirk a little. But Im rooting for them this year. Knicks vs Mavs.
They even talk about his drinking ……. LA might not be the place for him ……. buckle up.
Guys involved would say anything to suit their narrative. List of players better than Luka in the world…Jokic. Quite a short list. This is a bonehead trade from the Mavs. You can believe character assassination if you wish. Yes, the two best players in the world don’t look like athletes. Doesn’t appear to hurt their games. Nico has $3 mil in cash under his mattress for sure. Silver, Buss, possibly both. The dumbest decision I’ve seen in a long time.
You do realise if any of this is true this has 2 ways of going…
1 – Luka turns into Delonte West…
2 – Luka has all the motivation he needs to sober up and get in shape with LBJ to advise him on how to spend millions on his body…
It has to be a very deep addiction for him to pick option 1 over option 2…
Mavs fans rightfully held a funeral for the team at Dirks statue today… They ain’t gonna get the support they need to make the finals…
Warriors send Wiggins, Schroder, Lyles, #1pick.
to Miami ……
Heat send Butler to San Francisco …..
How come? Grant, but more so Simons and Ayton are far better players than Williams, puzzling.
