Stephen Curry was hot on the court in recent games but he was only hot at the officials and the opposing coach on Sunday. After scoring 125 points combined in wins over the Grizzlies, Lakers and Nuggets, the Warriors superstar had more turnovers (four) than points (three) in the Rockets’ 106-96 win, Anthony Slater of The Athletic notes.
While heading to the locker room at halftime, Curry seemed frustrated about the way he was being defended. He crossed paths with Houston coach Ime Udoka, who said something to Curry that led to a terse exchange.
“When people start complaining about foul calls or crying about physicality, you’ve done your job,” Udoka said. “That’s the first step in winning the battle. So I told my team, when this team starts crying about it, up the intensity, up the aggressiveness, and make the refs adjust to you.”
We have more from the Pacific Division:
- The Kings owe the Hawks a first-rounder which is top-12 protected in this year’s draft. It’s still very much uncertain whether that pick will be conveyed, given Sacramento’s current status as a play-in team. James Ham of The Kings Beat takes an in-depth look at the scenarios where the Kings might retain the pick.
- Kings forward Jake LaRavia is progressing through his rehab for what is now being called an incomplete scaphoid fracture of his left thumb, Ham tweets. LaRavia has been cleared for light on-court workouts. LaRavia has been sidelined since March 25. He averaged 8.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 22.8 minutes last month.
- What should the Suns do with Bradley Beal this offseason — trade the oft-injured wing, waive him and use the stretch provision to spread out the financial burden, or buy him out? Gerald Bourguet of GoPhnx.com takes a deep dive into each of those possibilities.
“Gerald Bourguet of GoPhnx.com takes a deep dive into each of those possibilities.”
Dana, you need to mention that GoPhnx.com is a paywalled site.
If I were Kings. I pull a Sixers now. Keep that pick. 12th pick is a nice pick. Get stronger for next year. Could find their oG there.
I’m disappointed in Dana. He missed the Curry response to the Udoka tiff. Well, I guess it might take a bit of an explanation. But, Steph said Ime made dinner reservations at International Smoke, Ayesha’s restaurant, then canceled. Steph’s delivery was funny.
Steph is great for that haha. Udoka is a fraud Houston was getting calls all game and allowed to be physical as hell and they still complained about every call that didn’t go their way. Not too mention the constant flopping from sengun
Everyone loves to hate on Beal but truth is he is still a really solid basketball player. He’s the third option and is putting up 17 points 3.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds. That’s playing off of an almost career low in minutes and shots per game.
He’s still very efficient with shooting marks of 50-38-80. He averaged less than 2 turnovers per game, and was about on par with his career averages in steals and blocks.
Also while we are at it the Suns rank as the 10th best offence and in part some of that has to be part of Beal.
He’s also only 31, it’s not like he’s Paul George at 34 or something. Granted he is on massive money but that contract runs out in 2 years time (after this season), it’s really not that bad.
Given the opportunity and on the right team he’d easily still average 25 points per game. He’s just clearly not a fit in Pheonix. I don’t know how they thought two shooting guards would work with a score first SF. Clearly someone is not going to be getting touches and shot attempts.
Looking at possible destinations, Orlando ranked as the 4th worst offence this season, 2nd worst in EFG% and 3rd worst in true shooting %. They did well cause they had the 3rd best defence and because they play in the East.
Beal would be a huge upgrade for them. Give up Issac, KCP and either Houston or Howard plus a second rounder.
Suns as I said top 10 offence but 4th worst defence. KCP and Issac would not only be easier to move in another deal but if kept upgrade the defence.
Udoka solved Curry…damn
Come on. That flagrant on Draymond for a 2 handed layup was f***ing insane. That was one of the poorest officiated games I have ever seen, and thats saying something with refs the last couple years…
That Draymond call in the Rockets game was an absolute joke. That is not a foul. His arms were in the normal position.
The refs hate GSW and always have, because they don’t want to see Curry get the 15-20 FTs a game he earns because that means he will avg 45 a game and it will very obvious who the GOAT is, which Bron does not want people to see.
