Trade discussions involving Jimmy Butler continue to take place, but those talks don’t include the Celtics, and haven’t “for a while,” according to Steve Bulpett of The Boston Herald (Twitter link).

Bulpett’s report doesn’t necessarily mean that the Celtics are out of the Butler sweepstakes entirely — if the Bulls begin to move close to a deal with another team, it’s possible they’d call Boston to see if the C’s want to make another offer. However, at this time, it appears that the Celtics aren’t actively exploring a potential Butler deal.
The Nuggets, Timberwolves, Cavaliers, and Suns are among the teams that have reportedly spoken to the Bulls about Butler. However, since the All-NBA forward still has two years left on his contract and prefers to remain in Chicago, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Chicago ends up not moving him tonight.
Although the Bulls are willing to make a deal if the right offer arises, the offers to this point have been “underwhelming,” sources tell K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune (Twitter link).
Good. Cs have bigger fish to fry (aka Kristaps).
Butler is better then him
Not a chance. Butler is a heck of a scorer, yes, but Kristaps could truly be a franchise player. Still young, on a rookie scale contract, and does everything well at his position. Unless Anthony Davis is feasible, I can’t think of anyone else on the trade block I’d go for more.
Butler is older, more money and not what the Celtics need… kristips is exactly what the Celtics need.. though I think Jackson is nuts on what he asked for… if I was ainge I would over pay for him a bit, nothing wrong with 3, Celtics next year and jaylan brown for kristips… the. Hopefully you can get hayward… team would be very competitive next year…
True but I’d do everything I can to hang on to Jaylen. He’s going to be a special one someday.
Yeah, but Porzingis is special NOW. Not super special, but special enough combined with the future potential to make it worth it. Jaylen Brown is good, but he’s not a 7′ 3″ shooter who can successfully guard multiple positions and is pretty athletic. He’s a freak of nature. I wouldn’t use that term for Jaylen Brown.
And an airplane is better than a Porsche, but since I don’t need an airplane I’ll just take the car. Butler doesn’t make sense in Boston regardless of how good he is.
He maybe better but he’s not a big need for them they need a big who can block shots and rebound
Ainge is a very good negotiator and he has a large bank account of draft picks from which to construct a deal. Take the player at no. 3 who has the most interest from other teams and then wait for the phone to ring.
At that point the value drops because you have your hands tied if you didn’t like the player.
