The Pacers have waived Nik Stauskas and Wade Baldwin, according to a team press release. The pair was acquired from the Rockets at the trade deadline and the move to waive them was expected.
Stauskas and Baldwin spent most of the season in Portland before being traded to the Cavs for Rodney Hood. Cleveland then sent the duo to Houston as part of a three-team agreement that also brought Iman Shumpert to the Rockets. Houston then dealt the two former first-rounders to the Pacers in separate trades.
The move to waive Stauskas and Baldwin opens up two roster spots, one of which will go to new addition Wesley Matthews. GM Kevin Pritchard said the Pacers are unlikely to fill the other spot right away.
The talk the entire time was Matthews to the Warriors, maybe Rockets. Then Pacers out of nowhere, seems weird.
Why does it seem weird? With Oladipo out, Wesley can slide right into a significant minutes on a playoff team. This should help improve his free agent stock in what will likely be his last big payday.
Just weird that no one had it I mean. There wasn’t even a whisper, and usually these guys are pretty spot on. They were reporting it like he was trying his Warriors jersey on after he got traded to NY.
I believe the reporting was basing the connection on Golden State’s level of interest in adding Matthews not Wesley’s personal preferences
Because they just guess like everyone else…
What’s up with no one wanting Stauskas? He’s at least a good player for a bench role.
Not everyone like’s Sauce on their food.
Stauskas to Pistons. Waive Calderon.
