The Kings are interested in free agent center Dewayne Dedmon, a source tells James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area (Twitter link).
Sacramento is looking for an upgrade from Willie Cauley-Stein, who is on the market as a restricted free agent. The Kings issued a qualifying offer to Cauley-Stein on Friday, but that can be withdrawn if they find a better option.
Dedmon, who will turn 30 in August, has spent the past two seasons in Atlanta and is coming off a career-best year. He averaged 10.8 points and 7.5 rebounds in 64 games.
A report earlier this week indicated that several teams are considering mid-level offers for Dedmon.
I like Dedmon. If the Sixers lost Tobias, I’d spend money to land Dedmon for 1 or 2 years. But I have a feeling he comes away with like a 3/36
But he should already be on a 3/30 or so and it never happens. Don’t know why. Maybe something off-court/lockerroom.
Dedmond should appeal to a bunch of teams. He had multiple prove it years since last time he was on the market
4/4 leaving Orlando. 5/6 leaving SA. Now 10/8 leaving Atlanta. He’s 30. He really isn’t looking like a guy who will get a big contract.
No come to Boston
Anything more than a MLE makes no sense for Dedmon. Yes, he averaged 10/7 but where does he fit in with Sacramento?
The Kings have plenty of cap and a young core that surprised a lot of people last year. Im not sure why they aren’t hunting bigger fish
Because they are the Kings and in s very small market that has not seen the playoffs in 10+ years. Deadman is one of the realistic options for them and actually fits very well with that team. It would be a good under the radar signing
