The 2:00pm CT trade deadline has now passed, but word of last-minute deals can sometimes trickle in after the buzzer. That won’t be the case for the Raptors and Bucks though, according to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, who reports (via Twitter) that the Eastern Conference’s top two teams didn’t make a move today.
Here are more deadline updates:
- It was a fairly quiet deadline for many of the top Eastern teams. The Celtics didn’t make a trade either, per Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe (Twitter link). And the Pacers also stood pat, tweets ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
- The Heat were active earlier in the day, finalizing a trade to acquire Andre Iguodala. However, the team didn’t expand that deal to include Thunder forward Danilo Gallinari, Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald confirms (via Twitter). As Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald explains (via Twitter), the Heat’s extension talks with Gallinari were more of a hang-up than the trade talks with the Thunder, given Miami’s desire to keep its cap clear for 2021.
- The Thunder, having held onto Gallinari, didn’t make any deadline deals, tweets Wojnarowski.
- The Jazz stood pat today as well, tweets Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune. So did the Spurs, says Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports (via Twitter).
Cavs buyout Thompson I think the Celtics should get him
Could be a low key solid pick up for the Celtics!
Heat are interested
Why would any player go to Boston if they get bought out? Usually buy out players are chasing a championship. Boston’s not winning a championship. Boston is just a good second their team. They are going no where and no elite players are signing in Boston.
They said the same crap about the Raptors and what did they do
If there is a buy out, he’s Raptor bound.
So pretty much as quiet as originally expected then, save for the few big, but largely expected, moves.
As of right now, as a Heat fan, this isnt a good deal unless something is legit wrong with Winslow, Iguodala is 100% healthy and himself, and they can still flip Crowder and Hill for something else. They gave up 2 current needs, with issues at the 4, especially with size, plus they lost JJ’s defense (JJ could still be flipped somewhere for Memphis), and a guard that can get into the paint at will in their offense
Crowder needs to be used as a playmaker for him to play the way he is capable of, and he hasnt been good 2 of the last 3 or so years, including this year. He would be amazing if this was a couple of years
Like we traded the 3 best current and future players in the deal in my opinion, and barely gave ourselves more flexibility for 2021. We did open up more space for this upcoming offseason though, but that kind of doesnt matter much, except maybe to keep Dragic and Derrick Jones jr. Hoping for buyout market though b/c we did open up some space under our hard cap to make 1-2 moves
I wouldn’t be too excited about getting a 36-year old Iggy who wasn’t very good his last season with the Warriors. He is no longer that player who was an integral part of the Death Lineup. His shooting is terrible and it’s unlikely that he will make Miami’s defense that much better.
Of course the Pacers stood pat, that’s all they ever do and why they never really win big. Yes they’ve made moves here and there at the deadline in the past but nothing big.
I think the heat needed Galo. They’re poised to make a run but I think Galo would have put them in the conference finals. Lets be real though. The East belongs to the Bucks
I like it better for Milwaukke now that the Heat moved Winslow and JJ
shame the raptors aren’t interested in another championship
