Thanks in part to the Pacers collecting a $10MM insurance policy on Victor Oladipo, who missed all but 13 games of the postponed NBA season, Indiana’s payroll is scheduled to come in at $104.6MM, the league’s lowest mark. If COVID-19 affects league revenue significantly, the Pacers will be in one of the most comfortable financial situations in the NBA, as J. Michael of the Indianapolis Star reports.
Michael notes that a significant drop in league revenue, such as a 5% drop from the projected $115MM cap ($109.25MM) or a 10% decline ($103.5MM), could impede several teams, but the Pacers are stacked with several players on movable contracts.
There’s more out of the Central Division:
- Bulls rookie point guard Coby White‘s late-season scoring streak (he averaged 23.7 PPG while connecting on 39.8%t of his 8.5 three-point looks) was one of the few positives in a generally dismal 22-43 season for Chicago. Morten Jensen of Forbes wonders what White’s performance means for his club going forward.
- Despite the COVID-19 pandemic putting the NBA on pause this month, Cavaliers head coach J.B. Bickerstaff and his assistants have been maintaining their (remote) connection to the young Cleveland squad, according to Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor.
- Pistons rookie point guard Jordan Bone logged time with Detroit’s Grand Rapids G League club and the NBA squad this season, and remains an intriguing player for the team’s future, according to Pistons.com writer Keith Langlois.
Pacers trade Turner and a second for Draymond Green
Pacers add a better defender and a better fit allowing Sabonis to play centre full time. Green is also a better passer and handler of the ball which might be better for the flow of the offence.
GSW get Turner who fills that centre spot and is a better fit because he shoots the 3 better and can play the puck and roll game. It also allows GSW to give Curry and Wiggins more of a role playmaking. GSW get more flexibility in the draft because of this trade, they can have a choice Wiseman or Toppin for starting PF or Ball or Anthony for a bench player.
Turner is also 24 & Green is 30. Nice try! How about GS’s 1st rounder, regardless if lottery (which it will be) & old man Green for Turner?
Def need more than a second to take that on. Turner is the Pacers defensive glue. As good as Sabonis is he’s not a great defender. I know Draymond is more than his stats but giving up turner for 8 ppg and 6.2 reb seems terrible without more compensation. Pacers lose their lone shot blocker too.
Correct
Green = 9 points, 7 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.1 blocks.
Turner = 13 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 2.1 blocks.
But playoff Draymond Green is
12.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.5 blocks.
I think Greens points are slightly lower than Turners but Green makes up for it by triple the number or assists then rebounding numbers Green is slightly ahead and steals he’s ahead but blocks go to Turner so numbers wise Green is better and Green also gives you more on the court that doesn’t show up in the stat book.
Turner is as good a defender as Green.
Green is a 3 time all star, 1 nba second team, 1 nba third team, a former DPOTY, 3 time defensive first team and 2 time defensive second team.
Yes there is a big age difference but I think Green is clearly the better player.
Green Oladipo and Brogdan would make the pacers defensive elite and take them to that next level.
I think Turner for Green straight swap would be fair for both teams
