The Celtics got down to the roster limit by waiving power forward Amile Jefferson, tweets Jared Weiss of The Athletic.
Jefferson, 27, signed an Exhibit 10 contract with Boston two weeks ago, so he could wind up with the Celtics’ G League affiliate. He played a combined 30 games for the Magic in his first two NBA seasons before being waived in February. Jefferson got into 18 games last season, but played just 4.1 minutes per night.
Boston’s roster appears to be set for the regular season, with all 15 slots filled, as well as a pair of two-way players.
OMG What are Celtics fans gonna do now?? Lol look Jefferson hasn’t done any worse then any other Celts!!I’m openly puzzled why Brad Stevens doesn’t have this team more ready to play?? A good start is gonna be so important! Package Edwards and Langford and a draft pick try to get randle for some 2nd team scoring!!
Wow he averaged 26 PPG and 13 RPG in the G-League in 2019-2020 — granted it was only in a handful of games but that’s still quite impressive. Given that you’d think he’d get another shot in the NBA at some point — though it probably won’t be with the Celtics — especially because their G-League affiliate the Maine Red Claws opted out of the G-League bubble so there won’t even be an opportunity for him to suit up for their G-League squad.
Now that I’m re-reading the article… it states that he could wind up with the Maine Red Claws… but seeing as the Red Claws opted out of the G-League season… what does that entail for Johnson… And anyone else who mayb be on the Maine roster? (Also… I seriously still do not understand why they would’ve opted out of the season given that there aren’t any other alternatives… like it just doesn’t make any sense to me whatsoever)
