Howard University freshman big man Makur Maker has declared for the draft but hasn’t hired an agent, leaving open the possibility of returning to college, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Maker, 20, played only two games for the Bison last season because of a groin injury, averaging 11.5 PPG, 6.0 RPG and 2.0 APG. The team played only five games before the university shut down the season due of COVID-19 issues. Maker is listed at No. 100 on ESPN’s Best Available list.
We have more draft decisions and news:
- UNLV’s Bryce Hamilton will remain in the draft process but plans to return to school, Jeff Goodman of Stadium tweets. The Rebels guard averaged 17.9 PPG, 6.0 RPG and 3.0 APG last season as a junior.
- UCLA’s Cody Riley will also enter the draft while retaining his college eligibility, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports tweets. Riley, a junior forward, had 14 points, 10 rebounds and five assists against Gonzaga in the Final Four. In 31 starts last season, he averaged 10 PPG and 5.4 RPG. “I’ve encouraged Cody to take advantage of this time and this evaluation process. I know that he wants to see where he fits at the next level and where he needs to improve,” coach Mick Cronin told the Associated Press.
- Cade Cunningham sits atop Jonathan Wasserman’s big board but the Bleacher Report analyst has a mild surprise in the No. 2 slot, with Jalen Green ranking above Evan Mobley. Jalen Suggs is a close fourth in Wasserman’s rankings.
I just hope he makers the right decision
He’ll be going back to school obviously. You can get a another Maker who’s seasoned and knows the ropes without wasting a draft pick.
Bol Bol and Makur Maker should end up on the same team.
Imagine if he had an uncle named Doodie Maker sheeesh
IMO
2 Jalen Green
3 Jalen Suggs
6 Jalen Johnson
Where was Jalen Johnson at in this article?
He is just pointing out all the top players named Jalen in the draft.
Jalen Suggs would be a huge steal at #4 being a true two-way guy.
Huh? How would Jalen Suggs be a huge steal at #4 when he is projected drafted at #4 in everybodys mock draft? He can be a huge bust #4, but never a steal. Steph Curry was a steal. He was the 3rd PG taken in the draft, and it allowed them to acquire the Center that they needed.
Just because one or two of them has him at #4, how does that mean everyone does? CBS Sports and NBC Sports has Suggs going at #2 while Tankathon has him at #3. The point is that all Suggs needs to do is develop his 3-point shot when he reaches the NBA and he would be just as good as Klay Thompson was before all his injuries.
Jalen Green could end up being a bust just as easily as Jalen Suggs.
If GSW get any of Cunningham, Green, Mobley or Suggs its over.
I don’t think so. They’re amazing players but they’re still rookies. If you keep number 6 and number 14 and plug in two 18 year olds that’s not a championship Contender. It would be another wasted year of the amazing Steph Curry. I don’t believe ownership and management wants to do that.
Swing for the fences, get a stud and trade ALL of # six, # 14, James Wiseman (who’s also not ready,) and of course Andrew Wiggins for salary. I’ll keep saying it until everyone gets it between now and the summer.
Marty I think you yourself said the Warriors “wasted a year of Curry” this year.. how they going to do it again next year? The last rookie to lead a team to the promised land was Magic Johnson (probably a couple other guys that you’ll point out.. I’m not going to Google it and research it but you get my point.)
The greatest of all time.. it takes them even a few years to figure out how to do it. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Hakeem Olajuwon, etc etc. The Warriors will be shopping for veterans absolutely 100%. Don’t doubt me.
If Houston gets any of those four players then the rest of the league will have to take notice. That’s why everyone is hoping they get #5 in the lottery and lose the pick to OKC. I am far more realistic than Marty is, he thinks one of those players will make them the same team they were from 2014 to 2019, but that’s not going to happen.
The Rockets chances of getting one of those 4 are far better and they will be a much better team next season than everyone here expects.
It’s funny. Marty now likes the idea of the Warriors drafting a player early in the draft. This is the same guy that thought 40 year old Kyle Korver was the answer to all the Warriors problems. He said Korver would be the defensive center and scoring guard that they lacked. Marty is wishy washy at best.
Well they could rise to 5th or so with a top rookie. One would think McCrazy would support Curry’s timeline though.
x%sure, exactly right. I mean seriously. What do many teams do as veterans get older? They bring more veterans and try to win it one more time or two more times. Olajuwon Barkley Drexler. Shaq Kobe Payton Malone. Garnett Pierce Ray Allen. Even back in the day. West Goodrich Chamberlain. Frazier Willis Reed Earl Monroe.
Jalen is a serious talent. If has the “Mamba Mentality “. He will be the next great one. He’s going to be a scoring machine. And has the athleticism to play D. Any top 5 pick is a great pick. . I would think team will play a big part here. Like why would Warriors take Mobley, it’s ridiculous. Unless it’s a trade. I like Mobley but he’s 2-3 yrs away.
I bet Mobley gets AS first! The mamba thing is unproven and he is unlike Kobe.
