The Magic are expected to hire Nate Tibbetts as an assistant on Jamahl Mosley‘s staff, according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report (Twitter link). Tibbetts and Mosley worked together on the Cavs’ coaching staff during the 2011/12 and ’12/13 seasons.
Tibbetts also interviewed for a position with the Kings, Fischer reports. He last served as associate head coach with the Blazers, working for several years as an assistant coach under Terry Stotts.
The Magic, who hired Mosley earlier this month, finished the 2020/21 campaign with just a 21-51 record. That mark was the second-worst in the East and third-worst in the league, mostly caused by key injuries and a midseason decision to start rebuilding.
Here are some other notes from the Eastern Conference tonight:
- The Bucks suddenly find themselves one win from an NBA title after winning Game 5 on Saturday, as Jonathan Abrams of The New York Times details. The victory was sealed with a steal and alley-oop from Jrue Holiday and Giannis Antetokounmpo at the end of the contest.
- The Heat have released their preseason home schedule for 2021/22, per an announcement on the team’s website. Miami’s first home game will be against Atlanta on Monday, October 4, just 78 days away. The league’s offseason will once again be shortened this year due to the altered schedule caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
- In his latest “Ask Ira” mailbag, Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel examines whether Bam Adebayo should serve as a roadblock in the Damian Lillard-Heat trade speculation. Portland likely wouldn’t entertain any offer for Lillard that doesn’t include Jimmy Butler or Adebayo, and to this point, neither Lillard nor the Blazers have indicated that a separation is being considered.
All teams want to keep Big 2.
Heat have no assets to trade for Lillard
Most teams don’t have enough assets
Bam as the article literally says
Only 1 team has the asset required to even begin trade talks with Portland much less any additional required to complete a deal. With that being said Lillard to the Sixers starts and ends with Big Ben.
I think they ask for Embiid
Cause that makes sense. I know their GM gets called stupid a lot, but no way is he that stupid.
NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!! Without JOJO.. Why the heck would we even make a trade?!
To get worse and older apparently lol
Why would the Blazers want Simmons? They could be better deals from a dozen other teams.
He is 31 though that makes a difference, he has a lot of miles and is entering the age where that means injury
If Lillard asks for a trade and puts a list of teams out to the public…. what makes the blazers different than the Raptors.. Rockets… Knicks… or any other team put in that situation? Why leverage would they have to demand all-star compensation?
Good point, Knicks would have to gut the roster to get somewhat close on the $$
I was referring to the Porzingis situation a few years ago
He has 4 years on his contract, those other guys had 2 or less. But he is also alot older at 31 and has a ton of miles while Bing undersized which means injury and athleticism can ruin his game before his contract is up at 35 years old (which I think will lower his value to perspective teams, if he was 27 still it would be 100% different)
Exactly. Portland will have no leverage. Dame just has to be willing to be “the bad guy” and say I want out—and I want to be traded to A, B, C, or D
And then Olshey basically has no choice. We’ve yet to see it happen where a team refuses. And I doubt the first team to take a stand keep a disgruntled star will be Portland.
Blazers have the 4 available… Go Bam!
Bucks looked good. They have finally woken up. Giannis is best all around basketball if his life. Injury made him use his size more. He’s getting g easier points. And taking advantage of mismatches. This is best I’ve ever seen him play. Holiday is finally paying dividends. One of best 2way guards in NBA. I’ve been hard on Bucks. Nice to see them playing this well. Suns are young so will they respond on road to a clinching gm. Should be fun. Only way Suns win is if Ayton has a big gm.
The only way the Suns win is if CP3 scores 40 again like he did vs. the Clippers in game 6.
Really, they should of won gm5. No team has ever lost in Finals with that FG%, FT%, 3PT %. Chris didn’t have a great gm 21 n 11 is still a great stat line. Bucks made two more FGs and took two more shots in gm. That’s how close it was. When it’s that close. Guess what ???? Usually a D play makes the difference. Two defensive plays have save Bucjs. Giannis Block and Jrue steal. Suns don’t need Chris to score. Just to manage and close gm out. He should be going to Ayton more. He was drafted for his offense. Suns Achilles heal is no backup big.
Bucks are having success crushing Ayton. Last game they had a lineup of Khris at PG, Tucker, Giannis, Lopez and Portis.
Ayton channels the living and is missing Saric to set his tone. He frowns & sweats now mostly. I predicted this turn, not at first, but after the Saric injury. I did say MIL would win eventually. They are taking everything inside and with that big lineup, almost have to, probably the point in calling for it.
Did anyone see Kaminski’s expression waliking through the tunnel after the loss?— very not happy. No PT. I think more minutes for him if the Bucks are going to use this strat.
Officiating is not great so excuses are there.
Crushing Ayton?? Leading rebounder and shot blocker. Bucks have attempted 5 more 3PT shots a gm. Ayton does need help. Since they have no other big.
Forget Knicks and Dame. We do t have the players. Why must we get caught up in this nonsense. Think for yourself. Blazers best bet is to trade CJ. Dame is 31 who can afford to trade for him now and why. Love gets bought out. Blazers should offer mid level . Trade CJ and you have a better team than last yr. Still say Atlanta is best trade for CJ. Works for both teams. Hawks could become legitimate contenders with CJ. Blazers do trade it will be CJ not Dame. Dame should retire a Blazer.
