David Aldridge of The Athletic is the latest reporter to confirm that the Sixers‘ asking price for Ben Simmons remains “sky high.” According to Aldridge, the 76ers are seeking a minimum of two future first-round picks, two first-round pick swaps, and an All-Star level player in most of their discussions about Simmons. A handful of other reports within the last week have passed along details on what kind of packages Philadelphia sought from Toronto, San Antonio, and Golden State for Simmons.
Here are a few more trade rumors from around the NBA, with free agency about to begin:
- The Raptors are exploring the trade market for center Aron Baynes, reports Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Baynes has a non-guaranteed $7.35MM salary for 2021/22 and seems unlikely to return to Toronto. If the team doesn’t find a taker on the trade market, he’s a candidate to be released.
- In an in-depth look at how the Lakers‘ acquisition of Russell Westbrook came about, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne shares several fascinating tidbits, including the fact that Westbrook called Kawhi Leonard in 2019 to talk about playing together in Los Angeles. According to Shelburne, the Lakers had been prepared to move forward on a Buddy Hield acquisition before the opportunity to land Westbrook arose.
- Within his recap of last week’s draft activity, John Hollinger of The Athletic provides a housekeeping notes on trades, writing that the Trail Blazers sent $2MM in cash to the Pelicans as part of their trade for the No. 43 pick, while the Thunder sent $2MM in cash to the Jazz in the Derrick Favors trade.
Ok Philly you can keep him.
I’m not totally opposed to this because I think you can add more scoring around him and better depth if you move Harris.
That being said, Morey is going about this very poorly.
Well said.
Yeah but how you think Simmons feels about comin back? Team thought so highly of you they tried to trade you the sec the 76ers were eliminated.
Although I guess he can take solace in the fact his team wasn’t really trying to trade him….but instead just kill his morale and ego but still have him on the team…..
Where is Simmons? Working with 6ers coaches or playing video games in Australia???
Better question is where is the Philly front office? Working to make an actual deal or playing with themselves in Dreamland?
I mean don’t we all know the Philly asks are hilarious? Do we need every national reporter to say “yes like you have been made aware for weeks, their ask is laughable” we get it, Simmons isn’t goin anywhere because morey has lost his mind
I mean this is the same team dumb enough to give him that contract in the first place. He’s exactly the same player he was back then.
He’s not the same player. He’s actually regressed. Just go back and watch highlights from his rookie season. He actually attempted jump shots back then.
I’m fine with Morey’s asking price. So many fans of other teams make it seem like he has to be traded and acting like we have to get rid of him for whatever we can get because they’re hoping their team can get him cheap. It’s funny. It’s also not gonna happen. I rather keep him if we can’t get good value for him.
Why isn’t the Aussie playing for his team working on his game now?
So far, I’m not impressed with Morey’s moves. Bringing back one of the two players I was praying they would get rid of. (Korkmaz) the other being Milton. Miami up-graded, Brooklyn is already loaded, Milwaukee, well they’re the champs. Right now, we’re looki g at a 4th or 5th seeded Sixers team in the east.
