Alex Rodriguez said he has been welcomed around the NBA, according to Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press. Rodriguez is part of the Timberwolves’ ownership group and will eventually become the majority owner along with business partner Marc Lore.
“I mean, I come at it from a different perspective, being in baseball for about a quarter of a century, and now it’s interesting to take my experience from Major League Baseball, from broadcasting and now being here as an owner,” Rodriguez said. “It’s been great. The NBA has welcomed me with open arms.”
He has been especially impressed with the league office.
“Team ownership is 365, 24/7,” Rodriguez said, “I knew that (NBA commissioner) Adam Silver and his team were great, but they’re even better than what they project. His senior management team, all the way through, they’re really incredible, they add tons of value. And I think they’re great at welcoming people, whether you’re a player, media, owner, executive into the room, and they know how to do that better than anyone.”
We have more from the Northwest Division:
- New Jazz coach Will Hardy might retain holdovers Bryan Bailey and Irv Roland on his staff, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports. It was previously reported that Alex Jensen and Lamar Skeeter could remain on the staff. The Jazz are also in the market for a top assistant, Jones adds.
- D’Angelo Russell is eager to get an extension this offseason, as he told Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “Obviously every player wants an extension, and you want to be in a position to do that,” the Timberwolves guard said. Russell, who has been the subject of trade rumors, added that his representation has had some dialogue with Minnesota’s front office. He’s also eager to play with the frontcourt duo of Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert. “For myself, I’ve always realized that if you put a shooter and a roller next to me, I can make the game easier for everyone around me,” he said. “I’m just looking forward to bringing that to the team.”
- Load management will be the way the Nuggets handle Jamal Murray coming off his major knee injury, Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports tweets. Murray’s minutes will be limited to the 20-30 minute range at the start of next season and he’ll also have some games off.
Wolves get Lowry and Herro
Jazz get Russell, Wolves and Heat picks
Heat get Mitchell
No
Never
you have done worst, this isn’t THAT bad.
Unless danny ainge is coming out the clear winner in a trade it ain’t getting done
Hard pass
Wolves don’t have any picks left. They just gave them to the Jazz in the Gobert trade.
Russel is going to need to take a pay cut to get a new contract. A one dimensional player is not worth over $30 million a year.
If there is one thing we need less of in society it’s Alex Rodriguez.
I would start with less bigotry and poverty first, but to each their own.
They didn’t say the most important thing, just “one” thing. I’d suffer a poor bigot over Alex Rodriguez.
Who’s the bigot? Rodriguez was extendively quoted, someone said they want less of that, then justkidding said it was about race. Based on what?
Nevermind A-rod’s words or attitude or solipsism or brown-nosing or positivity or giddiness, or anything that identifies him as a person. it’s like Rodriguez is nothing but his ancestry, a commodity or statistic. There’s the bigotry.
Which, might be so about trueOutcomeFan, but was not specified, so should not be assumed.
He is new tho, so who knows.
Celebrity A-rod also has a known history beyond just being a race or another, which can be thumbs-up or -down.
Adding “poverty” either makes no sense or is, in the larger more metaphoric definition, arrogant.
I am dumb but I think Westbrook on this Timberwolves team would thrive
Yes. Yes you are.
My guess is you are a Laker fan.
Nah just someone who can see Westbrook being the assists leader on that team. If he were not efficient and shot less he’d help any team.
No, you might be on to something. He’d put up 25/12/11 with ANT, Gobert and Towns. He’d have one of the best lob targets in the game in Gobert, he’d have a big that can stretch the floor for kick outs, he’d have a secondary get a bucket guy in Edwards that can attack the basket and who should become a better shooter along with a glue guy to keep in Anderson to keep it all together.
The Wolves just mortgaged their future though and it doesn’t look like Westbrook has much or anything left for the long haul.
Forgot a out the zero media coverage so he can just go back to playing vs worrying about the media and image.
they overpaid for Gobert, yes, but they have their future in ANT+KAT anyway. So the idea of “mortaged their future” is really overblown.
They didn’t overpay for Gobert, they essentially cashed in their pocket change for a $5 bill. That pocket change was mostly what they had left though.
I wouldn’t give up anything for Westbrook. I’d only do it if he somehow got bought out at the end of the Kyrie fiasco.
Over pay is not the right word for what the T-Wolves di but mortgaged the future for now. If they win a championship nobody will care about the future when a championship would be their first.
