Pacers swingman Buddy Hield has been fined $25K by the NBA, the league announced in a press release (Twitter link).
The 6’4″ small forward was penalized for “making an obscene [hand] gesture on the playing court,” early in the second quarter of an eventual 115-109 March 20 loss to the Hornets, the press release states. Tony East of Sports Illustrated (Twitter video link) pinpointed the moment of the incident, which occurred while Hield was taking a breather on Indiana’s bench.
Fines aside, Hield has been enjoying another solid year for an Indiana team that remains very much in the thick of the play-in tournament race as of this writing. Despite that loss to a lowly Charlotte team Monday, the 33-40 Pacers are currently 1.5 games behind the Bulls for the East’s No. 10 seed.
Through 73 starts this year, Hield is averaging 17.1 PPG on .459/.424/.819 shooting splits for Indiana. He’s also contributing 5.0 RPG, 2.7 APG and 1.2 APG. The 30-year-old sharpshooter is currently in the third season of a four-year contract he signed with the Kings in 2020.
I told yall Dillon Brooks was the first domino. Now you can’t even breathe on the bench without getting hit for 25k. Something is really fishy here…what does it all mean
The Earth is round….
So is a pancake…
Oops…..he must’ve forgotten (3 times) that NBA games are televised.
Someone has to free Bradley Beal from the Washington Wizards. He’s got paid and doesn’t care to play ball anymore but I still know deep down he’s a former all star, than can give you 27 a night on average for a season. One of the best scorers in the league.
Would love for that team to be the pacers.
Tyrese Beal Turner Benedict McConnell
Give up Heild, Theis, Nembhart, Duarte, this years Cavs first round pick, the pacers own 2025 first round pick unprotected plus the two second rounds the pacers own this year.
Thus allowing the pacers to keep their first this year which is currently projected to be 8th and keep the Celtics first this year.
Next season could line up something like
1. Tyrese. McConnell
2. Beal. Benedict
3. Nesmith. Nwora. Draft in a SF
4. Draft in a PF. Smith/Jackson
5. Turner. FA pick up
For the PF spot I’d look at GG Jackson, Jarace Walker or Taylor Hendricks at the top of the draft.
If they all are gone Kris Murray would be my last resort. Grab one of those guys and your starters are set for next season. Then later in the draft with the Celtics pick look to take a SF with the likes of Leonard Miller, Dariq Whitehead, Maxwell Lewis and Juilian Swrather all names to keep eyes on. As for the back up centre spot I’d go cheap in FA such as Alex Len, Cody Zeller, Nerlens Noel.
Beal one of the best scorers in the league refreshed on a new team with something to prove. Tyrese one of the best passers in the league, also an amazing shooter and would be a great backcourt partner with Beal. Myles Turner one of the best rim protectors in the league, can also shoot the three ball and open the paint up. A new exciting prospect at the 4 and multiple 3 and D guys at the SF position. Benedict Mathurin a potential sixth man of the year contender, McConnell a solid back up point, multiple forward options and then a consistent veteran centre to hold it all together.
Honestly I they’d be a top 6 seed in the east from the rip and be competing for a title in 2/3 years
