Shake Milton is the least likely of the Sixers’ free agents to re-sign with the club, according to Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice.com. Milton is looking for a opportunity to get an expanded role elsewhere, though that could change if the Sixers fail to re-sign James Harden.
There’s also no traction regarding a possible trade involving Tobias Harris and his expiring contract, Neubeck writes. There’s no sense of urgency to deal Harris, as the Sixers believe they’ll have multiple windows beyond this week to potentially move him. They’re not inclined to deal the veteran forward unless it improves their flexibility or top-end ceiling, Neubeck adds.
We have more from the Atlantic Division:
- Julius Randle believes the Knicks are “not that far off” from being a championship team, he said on Paul George‘s Podcast P show (hat tip to SNY TV’s Ian Begley). “We got a great mixture of talent, bro. We’ve got young dudes, we’ve got guys going in their prime. So we’ve got a great mixture of guys and it’s like, ‘How do we keep getting better?’ So from a team standpoint, I think that’s where we at.”
- Mikal Bridges believes that when injuries struck the Suns last season, he got a chance to showcase his offensive ability. That set him up to become a primary option after he was traded to the Nets, he told Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated. “I always tell people I got traded at the right time with having pretty much the whole team out and being the guy for about a month and just going through the pains and the gains and growth throughout every day,” he said. “Having bad games and losing a lot to finally starting to get it going and start being efficient and trying to win games. And then once it kind of got to that and then that’s when I got traded. So it was perfect timing. I couldn’t have been traded at a better time.”
- Obi Toppin’s trade value could be a late first-rounder in this year’s draft, a source told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. The Pacers could be a potential suitor for the Knicks’ backup power forward, Bondy suggests, since they were interested in him before last season’s trade deadline and possess two late first-round picks. However, Toppin has supporters within the organization and he would become more valuable to the Knicks if they deal Randle in a blockbuster.
- Darko Rajakovic presented a straightforward approach during the interviewing process for the Raptors’ head coaching job, he told Serbian media outlet MozzartSport (hat tip to Eurohoops.net). “When I entered the whole process, I had no intention of pleasing anyone and simply wanted to present myself, who I am and what I am, what my beliefs are, and what my basketball philosophy is,’ he said. “In the end, they liked it the most, so they decided to hire me.”
Trading Harris makes no sense, unless it’s a clear upgrade. He is a very good player, who has been mis-casted in the sixers offense by 2 different HC(Brown and Doc)
Huh? Harris is making max money to provide next to nothing? Any even-money trade would be an upgrade.
Next to nothing is just a falsehood
.501 FG %, .389 (3PT %), .876 FT %
15 pts, 6 reb, 2.5 ast, 32 mins
And they don’t even run plays for him. Find another sport lol.
Dude is due nearly $40 million this year to provide what you could reaonably get for half the price. Perhaps it’s not nothing, but it’s not a lot, and Tobi always vanishes in big moments. He’s the Invisble Man.
Again …. they don’t look for him. And don’t run plays for him. And still put up numbers. Yes we all know he’s overpaid. Doesn’t mean you don’t use him.
And that’s not next to nothing …..
Sixers fault imo ……
I will just let u rethink this one.
Careful. Folks here struggle with the fact that trading a player making 40 mil means having 40 mil for other players.
Trading Harris would only make sense is if it helps the team now. If they can trade him to someone who will absorb most of his salary, 39.5M , which could be used to sign a few FA’s including their own -Harden,Reed, McDaniels, Niang, Milton they are 1) getting multiple players who can help the team in areas of need,(Id say a SF who can defend well and make open shots, a PF who can defend and rebound (I think Paul Reed will be a great fit there) backup PG who distrubtes the ball well & can shoot the 3,(Shake Milton would be great, but he probably goes somewhere that will give him more time & $$), backup C (someone like Drummond, who can defend the rim the same way as Embiid does), and any young talent on low level salaries are always helpful. So if they trade Tobias for a player making $20M or less that can come off the bench and do anything, I’d consider that a good deal.
“I think that’s where we at”… knicks could get better by getting guys who can speak English, especially when those guys are from America. How embarrassing.
Seriously though the only way knicks get better is dumping randle… he has to know this right?
Uranus wants you back …..
Randle to Portland for Sharpe and the 3rd pick sounds good to me
Portland’s GM would need an emergency CAT scan if they agreed to that trade.
But I’ve been assured by every Knicks fan that Toppin is worth numerous firsts and that the rest of the NBA would start a bidding war if they graced the rest of the league by taking calls on him
Unfortunately his value is probably a late 1st rd pick. Whoever gets him. Will have stole him.
The Knicks are so close. Should of went for Beal. They are one player away
Thursday night there will be trades. And you can expect plenty of teams to try and get in on them. I’m expecting a lot of movement. Should be fun.
We should not trade Obi. Definitely trade Randle. We are a faster transition team with ball movement and no stagnation with Obi at the starting pf spot. He’s a younger in NBA experience than amare stoudemire but has that potential. A starting unit of Brunson, LaVine, Hart, Obi and Mitchell Robinson would be an upgrade in so many ways. I don’t want to hear complaints about Obi s defense when Randle is the worst defender! Obi s rebounding with increased minutes would improve. Transition dunks and his three point shooting improvement makes Obi super dangerous. If we trade him watch him become a star.
Obi does provide a transition game but he has to improve on his mid & post games. He should reach out to Melo and work with him this summer. Please show Randle the door. Trade him to Dallas, the 10th pick and Josh Green
Trade Obi and Quickley for some veterans to fill the second unit. Go all in on Thibs ball so those of us who want more can stop pretending.
Knicks fans may not want to hear this but trade Mitch Rob for Turner or Ayton. He doesn’t have an offensive game, clogs the paint so it like playing 4 on 5. Lobs, put backs and rebounds. We need 15-20 from the 5
Knicks need, above all, shooters. 19th in 3 PT % and 20th in overall FG %. A few more ppg from the Center position is not their issue.
