The Warriors will have to wait at least two weeks to get Chris Paul back in action.
Paul has been cleared to begin light on-court individual workouts with a splint on his surgically repaired left hand, the team announced on Tuesday, as relayed by ESPN’s Marc J. Spears (Twitter link). He will be reevaluated in two weeks.
Paul underwent surgery on the second metacarpal in his left hand on January 8 with a projected timetable of four-to-six weeks at that time. The latest update suggests he should return shortly after the All-Star break.
Paul suffered the injury during a January 5 game against Detroit. The veteran point guard has undergone numerous surgeries on both hands during his career. He missed his ninth consecutive game on Tuesday.
It’s not out of the question Paul has played his last game with Golden State. He’s been the subject of trade rumors, along with several of his current teammates during the Warriors’ uneven season. His $30MM salary for next season in non-guaranteed.
The Warriors also issued an update on guard Moses Moody, who has missed seven games due to a Grade 1 left calf strain. He’s been making good progress and has been cleared to practice.
This iteration of the Warriors has been so sad to watch, even as a GS hater.
The failed Point God experiment, Draymond’s fight night antics, the Golden Boy of Golden State Andrew Wiggins demise, the failure of Steve Kerr to play Kuminga until he had to publicly state his frustration, Klay showing everyone that he should have retired after his free throws in Toronto…
Bob Myers knew what needed to happen for this team to contend. Ownership clearly disagreed and valued merch sales and happy endings more winning another championship.
When Steph is smiling in another uniform, I hope all Dubs fans can look back and blame the FO more than they’ll cast anger onto Curry. Hell of a run. Back to obscurity you go.
As a Laker fan I’ll remember them as the best dynasty in the 21st century , the motion offense , an uncanny ability to keep the glass clean despite being undersized and how they made the 3 pt shot so deadly
* I don’t like them that much either but those are the first thoughts that come across my mind
As a Laker fan, you should be ashamed of yourself for that statement.
Jimmy – why ? Why build up some false narrative in my mind to suit my fandom ? Seems silly
I just think you’re wrong. I guarantee Kobe, Phil and Fish will end up with more championships than the Warriors when it’s said and done. I don’t remember Golden State completing a 3-peat during the Curry era.
Fair enough
* dynasties never end w a fairy tale ending as you know tho
I respect what they did in the 2010”s
I think you are a little confused. CP3 has been a success. They got rid of Poole. Just look at his atrocious play in DC. And, as was predicted when the trade was made, Kuminga is becoming a budding All-Star. They started a rebuild right after they lost to Toronto in the Finals. Lacob knew they were in a rebuild mode. It was all over the media. That is why they drafted Wiseman and hired Dejian. The FO was not expecting to beat Boston in the Finals; that was a pretty weak team. They could not give Wiseman the playing time he needed to develop and defend a Championship at the same time.
CP3 was a money dump poole is not even close to being worth half his contract. Its strange when somebody says CP3 was a mistake when every Warrior fan knew it was to get rid of his contract and nothing else.
Giants74 – you are so delusional it’s actually kind of admirable. All of you Warriors guys are. If anyone suggests that maybe your teams run is over you have to have some melt down about how actually everything bad that happens is good and it’s been the “plan” since KD left.
CP3 has been fine but they’re paying him 30 million to do so. If that culminated in even a play in spot this might be a different conversation but the Warriors are the 12 seed right now and Paul is OUT for at least 2 more weeks.
Kuminga becoming a budding all star… With his recent stretch I might give that to you but he’s taking 20 shots a game. I just watched Harrison Barnes drop 39 on the Warriors and it took him little over 20 shots. Is HB an All Star? No. So is Kuminga an All Star or a happy victim of circumstance? And all that is beyond the point I was making which was that Kuminga had to come out and publicly say he was unhappy with Kerr about his playing time. He basically forced Kerr’s and it’s paid off but that doesn’t make Kerr less liable for the teams struggles.
This one is probably my favorite statement you made. “They started a rebuild right after they lost to Toronto”. What you mean by that is KD said I’m good even after everyone but Draymond begged him to stay, traded him for D’angelo Russell (a real rebuilding move there), they pay Klay Thompson for 5 years even with the injury scare (again, what all rebuilding teams do), Curry gets hurt and now the team is missing Curry, KD, and Klay. THEY DIDNT HAVE A CHOICE. Willie Cauley-Stein wasn’t going to carry them buddy. The pivot at the deadline to move D’Lo should also show you that the FO had no idea heading into 19-20 that they were committed to a rebuild. So then instead of trading pick 2 for instant returns they drafted Wiseman. They did this because Wiseman checked every box that the Warriors were looking for in a trade with that pick. Klay then gets hurt AGAIN on draft day. Doesn’t leave the FO much room to pivot. Victim of circumstance seems to be a recurring theme.
So now another year without Klay and they need to focus on getting Wiseman ready. Well that doesn’t happen but Steph is good enough to make Kelly Oubre and company an 8 seed before crumbling in 2 horrendous play in games. Lucky for them, Minnesota FO is addicted to smashing their heads into concrete until they saw pretty lights so they get pick 7 and 14. These picks were then shopped around the league with no interest from other teams. Interesting note – in both 20 and 21 the Warriors dangled their picks to try to get Brad Beal from Washington… again, what a real rebuilding move.
Then they traded Wiseman for tax purposes. Not out of some kindness to him so that he might develop his skills elsewhere. That’s gone wonderfully by the way.
And if it wasn’t obvious enough that the Warriors FO is choosing to handicap the team so the big 3 can remain in tact, they sign Draymond to a massive 4 year deal with a play option at the end AND offered the ghost of Klay Thompson 50 million for 2 years…. But Jordan Pooles contract. Thats was the killer right?
One day this insufferable fan base will be forced to gaze upon the bad decisions their team has made. Until that day, I will be here pointing it out for them.
Wow to be that triggered by the warriors so much you almost wrote a book on your opinions. Poole’s contract handicap them for the next 3 years. You think the Wizards would do a do over on that trade right Now? Yes they would. CBA hurt the warriors more than any other team. CP3 is gone next year and most likely Klay. That is $78 million in cap space they get back.
Im triggered but you reply to literally every post not glazing your team? Did you not see that they offered Klay almost $50 million? And they have Draymond and Wiggins locked in for how many more years? Draymonds dumbassery is making him almost not tradable. Wiggins play is doing the same for his stock.
How many good Steph years are left in this tank? He’s not a starting All Star guard anymore. The West has caught up. You’re saying it was smart by the Warriors to waste this season so that Jordan Pooles contract didn’t single handily waste the next 3? That’s laughable at best.
Also, you should really be reading bigger books at this point.
Yours put me to sleep. ZZzzzzzzz……
They offered Klay the money before the season started and it now off the table. It was a 2 year $48 million deal. Green could be easily traded if they put him on the trading block. Both Mavs and Lakers would trade for him in a heart beat. Wiggins looked sharp last night. Warriors has had offers for Wiggins but none worth making a deal. Would Poole make warriors a contender? NO So how did they waste his trade? Poole is now the Wizards problem a player that can’t play defense.
@Washington Oh sweetie. You are kinda cute. The Warriors FO; Lacob, Myers and Kerr stated publicly that the Warriors were on a two-track rebuild after they lost to Toronto, and Klay went down. They gave numerous interviews. They said they felt they needed a new core/foundation. You can google it.
They drafted Wiseman knowing he was raw. That is why they brought in Dejian; who is credited with developing Jokic and Zubac.
Wiseman was traded for GPII because they needed someone to stabilize the 2nd unit which completely sucked last year. They were giving up leads right and left. Draymond did it for awhile, but they needed someone permanent.
I never thought they should have given Poole that contract. They should have let him become a RFA. His defense sucked. He turned the ball over to much. And his shot was iffy. And now he is a big headcase in DC.
Having CP3 come off the bench has stabilized the 2nd unit and allowed those guys to thrive. You can’t tell me Kuminga was better the previous 2 seasons.
Oh…Kuminga is not getting more playing time this season because he complained about his playing time. He complained last season also. He is getting more playing time because they did a lot of film work him. Oh, he also publicly credits Draymond with his most recent output.
You sound as stupid as your username
yea….dudes got it all figured out.
Bitter, is the fruit not ready.
Bitter to go along with immature. While everyone watches your team never winning a championship.
Trade Chris Paul, Saric and Kuminga to Chicago for Lonzo Ball, Craig and Patrick Williams with a 1st. Then trade Lonzo with that 1st to NOP for Janos V and two 2nds.
Or trade Chris Paul and Saric for Vucevic and Carter.
Chris Paul, Saric and Kuminga for Drummond, Patrick Williams, Ball and a 1st then trade Ball to Brooklyn for Spencer D.
Chris Paul in a three team trade for Capela and …..
Trade Chris Paul for a veteran C!!!!!
Sorry but Bulls have no firsts to give out for a while…and Reinsdorf tells season ticket holders that the team is ready for a championship run when Lonzo comes back in 2024-25. With DeMar under his new max contract, they will be unstop-a-BULL!
I like the play on words. If I were the Bulls I would trade Vucevic, Taylor and Ball for a elite older PF and PG, move Patrick Williams to SF sixth man along with White. Waive two of the three two way guys and sign a Jazian Gortmen, John Butler and Kai Jones on two ways
I still believe Chris Paul and Saric for Vucevic, Carter with cash benefits both teams
I posted Urban Dictionary’s definition of what a bonercat is. But my post was apparently blocked by TR because the definition is so disgusting. So I hope it makes you proud WB. Maybe other posters would like to see the definition. Just Google “bonercat”. Not sure how you get away with that username but my posting of the definition was blocked.
