JANUARY 16: The NBA officially confirmed today in a press release that the 2026 All-Star Game will take place at the Intuit Dome, the Clippers’ new arena.
JANUARY 12: The Clippers are “on track” to host the 2026 All-Star Weekend at owner Steve Ballmer‘s new Intuit Dome, though the NBA is still finalizing the plans, multiple sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium (Twitter link).
This year’s All-Star Game will be held in Indianapolis (Pacers), and the Warriors will host the event in 2025.
The Intuit Dome, which is located in Inglewood, California, is still under construction. It’s set to open for the 2024/25 season. Both the Lakers and Clippers currently play their home games at Crypto.com Arena, but it’s obviously far more famous for the Lakers than the Clips.
Former Microsoft CEO Ballmer is the wealthiest owner in the NBA and has shown a willingness to spend in multiple aspects of the Clippers business, including the team’s payroll and new arena. Star forward Kawhi Leonard just signed a three-year, $152MM extension two days ago, and Paul George is “optimistic” about his own extension talks.
The Clippers were 3-7 at one point in the immediate aftermath of the James Harden trade, but they’ve gone 21-6 since to currently hold a 24-13 record, good for the No. 4 seed in the West.
Great
I know the city needs to have a certain structure with hotels to accommodate but I wish OKC was able to host. They have not hosted since getting a team, some other teams have not hosted in ages.
Warriors are getting their chance since they moved from Oakland.
OKC has a mediocre arena, when their new arena is completed they will probably host it as well
Slow night? Why not start a transfer portal rumors list
Why don’t you cancel your subscription if you’re so upset?
Miami hasn’t had an All-Star game since 1990…. it was one of the best AS games of all time (jordan vs. ‘nique slam dunk contest) … why the continued anti miami bias?
The NBA has to get its California fix. Boston never gets an ASG, either, which is absurd. But Boston doesn’t have the “glitz” of L.A.
Why do you have glitz in quotation marks it’s literally Hollywood lol. Los Angeles is objectively a celebrity destination. Boston has a Wahlburgers.
Philly should get it for the country’s birthday
NBA fans hate America
Why would I hate a whole continent? Makes no sense
Seems like a bunch of franchises are getting passed over for ASG hosting rights. I’m not sure why Milwaukee has been overlooked for the bidding with Fiserv being one of the newest arenas in the league. It’s truly a shame the league plays favorites like this.
It is due to hotels to accommodate all the traveling people. Is the arena surrounded by lodges, they don’t want people to have to stay hours away. It is also cold as hell in February still.
Kings have not gotten the ASG game. Living in Sacramento they don’t the lodging around Golden 1 for the people traffic. The March Madness was a good test though.
